Burnout v4.0

Got a great pic of G1 Op or BW Megs? Whether it's 2-D or 3-D it's welcome as is any other form of art outside the custom figure world.

Burnout v4.0

Postby GeeWerX » Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:55 am

Well, every year and a half, I like to take the ol fembot and give her a nice upgrade. This will be the third upgrade of sorts, so I'm really happen to announce her latest incarnation. I really didn't want to deviate from what I found to be her shining attributes, so you'll find that in spirit, she's essentially the same, minus some technical details.

This is a really rough sketch I did last night. I added some colors to get her major color scheme down. The design was started a couple of weeks ago. Let me know what you think.

If you're interested in comparison pics, here are some links to her earlier incarnations:

Like version 2 the best as well, but the V4 shows promise as well. Only crit is that she looks rather fat though.

LOL :D

Also, guys, one of the reasons I decided to keep the big thighs and enlargen them a bit was I was planning on having her thighs contain some of the car parts inside. I know it's a stretch, but thought it'd be cool to see them split open and red car parts flipping open and snapping together before she falls to the ground. I see her transformation looking somewhat like she's exploding apart, and then snapping back together.

All the larger thighs do is make her look fat. It seems each time you revise her, her thighs and hips get bigger and bigger. This is not good. The Versions 1 and 2 are really the best versions. Even in your Version 3, the thighs and hips are too thick. The larger thighs and hips would also interfere with transformation. Sometimes, it is better to leave well enough alone.

I like 2 best as well. As for three, Its not so much that the thighs and such are that fat really, its that the top half of her is smaller. I mean from jsut below the breast line down everything is in proportion but the part above that is all much smaller. Her arms are very thin as well which jsut makes her look off to me.

As for 4. Its rough so hard to say. Looks like it has the same problem of 3 in that the top half looks to small for the bottom half. Although the thinner lower legs do look better in 4 then the large boots on 3. Again the arms look way to thin and this time the head looks a little small. But again its a rough sketch so hard to really judge. And personally I think you should put those red parts back on her wrist/forearms. But thats all just my humble opinion.

Shade, the waist isn?t too small on Veriosn 3 and 4, the hips and thighs are too wide for both the waist and shoulders. Ideally, the hips should never be wider than the actual shoulders (not any armor). In versions 3 and 4, the hips are much wider than the shoulders. This is true for both male and female humanoid figures. At most, the hips and thighs should be only slightly wider than the chest.

The main reason I don't like the other versions as well as version 1 and 2 is that the robot is looking more and more like a female wearing armor rather than a robot that looks somewhat female. A lot of an artists just tack robot bits onto a female frame and say it's a fembot. I know the G1 show did that too,but I didn't like it then either.

Each drawing is still an awesome piece of art, don't get me wrong. I just prefer a more robotic look.

she's a pear shape as opposed to being an hourglass shape.

I know in G1 such was not the case... Though you are going to sit there and tell me Arcee was not the exception...?

Okay, you got me there. I would say Arcee is the exception. She may still look like a human female in robotic armor, but kitbashers and Rabid Squirl's work prove that her design is realistic. I still like my blocky fembots though!

While a ?pear shape? is better, healt-wise than a barrel shape when is comes to overweight women, it doesn?t make them any less overweight or disproportionate. The ?hourglass? shape is the ideal female shape and most attractive to the majority of men. This is a statistical fact.

Hey, guys! Wow, this topic has gotten pretty interesting. I won't bother addressing everyone's points, since that's the fun of the freedom of speech, the right for each person to have his or her opinion.

I will make one comment though. This is merely a sketch, although the bold idea of such huge hips is intentional. There are too many images out there that focus on one view of the female form, typically that seen in television, movies and videogames as well. I, for one, have always been attracted to the diverse form. I love the slim bodied woman like the next man, but I also appreciate the slightly disproportioned female form even more when it works right. I think it's wrong to force an opinion of what's beautiful onto people though. Everyone can have their taste in men or women, but to say, "you're stupid because everyone knows that this is what's really hot in a man or woman", is insulting not to mention a bit pigheaded. I'm not addressing this to anyone in particular, just making a note as I'd hate for a conversation like this to get out of control on my account.

Besides, this is a fem-BOT, so that means that there is an even more amount of creative freedom in the fembot form, right? Who's to say male bots don't dig a little junk in the trunk too? :D

there's nothing wrong with someone dissagreeing with eachother. i respet both Shades and tramps opinions. But you both have made this Personal and it had gotten out of control. Take it to private messages and settle it there not here.

It's like GeeWreX said it's a SKETCH, enjoy it for what it is, not for what it's not.

Well, aside from the disproportion factor, the other problem with the large hips and thighs is it completely inhibits transformation. They are too big to allow the car parts that make up the lower legs to cover the hips and thighs during transformation. Based upon the drawings, it looks like the lower legs are supposed slide up over the thighs. If you make the thighs and hips big, the lower legs can?t slide up, so slimmer thighs are essential. This would also be true if the lower legs rotated op and over the thighs. In either case, the thighs and hips need to be relatively slim. She can?t have big hops and thighs, and still transform.
