Having seen the thread over at TFW2005 myself, I was of the impression that these were just test pieces. Although I cannot say so with any sort of certainty, one hopes that if they were made available to the masses, they would indeed come in more palatable color options.

They provide options. They don't look great, but they exist.

What options though?

The option to use Energon limbs with Combiner Wars torsos. I thought that was pretty obvious, myself. Just because it is not an option you seem enamored with does not mean the existence of it is negated.

Dead Metal wrote:Aren't the actual CW compatible figures enough?

Sure, yes. Personally, I'm the kind of guy who is happy with the four standard limbs in the standard configuration. That said, options can be fun. And also, we have a few torsos without G1 equivelents, such as Optimus Prime or Cyclonus. So if you have Energon limbs handy, and if these adapters are an option... why not?

Dead Metal wrote:So now you have the option of having a CW torso with gimpy out of place looking arms and legs, that require the torso bot to be mistransformed to the point of looking even worse.

One, I don't think the Energon limbs look "gimpy." Your opinion may differ, as is your right. But me, I don't see it. Heck, if anything, I feel that the Combiner Wars arms look a little long. (But not to the point I was going to complain or rage about it.)

Two, what mistransformation of the torsos? The only thing that seems out of place to me is that apparently the person who did this doesn't know how Ultra Prime's (or, presumably, Menasor's) crotch plate is supposed to be positioned. This has nothing at all to do with the limbs, however.

Dead Metal wrote:Or sticking with only CW figures.

Yes, that is an option. One you are free to avail yourself of.

Dead Metal wrote:I'm all for options, but this, this is stupid.

So, you're all for options unless they are ones that you don't like and that no one is forcing upon you?

Personally, I don't have any Energon limbs outside of Bruticus, so I am unlikely to get these. But if I had the drones from Energon Optimus Prime, I think that combining them with Combiner Wars Optimus Prime is an awesome idea, and I'd do it in a heartbeat.

But... to each their own.

Oh it's pretty obvious, it was also pretty obvious that that line was a sarcastic remark at how ridicules this concept is.

They do have limbs though, the excess limbs, the new characters like Alpha Bravo, etc and the upcoming figures (like the AUtobot Menesaur homage)

They do look gimpy, look at them, the arms and legs are far to short, and the hands too small. Sure, Wingsabre would be pretty awesome due to how badass his combined mode with Energon Prime is, but the pics here make it look terrible. The styles and designs clash far to much to be ascetically pleasing.

No. Of course nobody is forcing these upon me, doesn't make the concept any less stupid, the size difference alone will make these pretty useless. Since "options" would imply that now you have even more limbs chose to mix and match, when in reality you can't. You can either go with CW or Energon, since if you try to mix them, you'll end up with an arm or a leg being shorter, or the arms being too long for the legs, or the other way around.
It's unnecessary, just like back when someone started selling extensions like these to combine Energon combiners with PCC, probably the same guy now that I think about it.

You know what would actually give more options and be way better than this? Universal ports, that can attach to most Deluxes, that way you have a larger selection to choose from (well, umongst those that can form a psydo limb, which is easier done for feet than arms).

Yotsuyasan wrote:Personally, I don't have any Energon limbs outside of Bruticus, so I am unlikely to get these. But if I had the drones from Energon Optimus Prime, I think that combining them with Combiner Wars Optimus Prime is an awesome idea, and I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Not exactly, I have them and they kinda work with the Optimus they're intended for, they would just look terrible on this new even beefier Optimus.
Oh and
Yotsuyasan wrote:But... to each their own.

Then why get mad at my opinion in the first place? I mean, it's not like I was forcing anyone to not buy these or hate them. I stated that I thought they were stupid, and I said why.
So why complain about my opinion, and try to ridicule me for stating my opinion on something just to then end it all with "but people have different opinions". As if you're trying to invalidate my opinion by stating all opinions are equal.
News flash, opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one, and when someone has a different opinion than you because of different taste, that does not make their opinion any less valid.

I did think of one huge advantage to those connectors. TFC's combiners use the Energon ports, so if you want you could pair up the Uranos limb-bots with CW Silverbolt, thus getting to enjoy them without having to endure the awfulness that is TFC Silverbolt.
