Sonic Canyons - Battlefield

The barrier exploded, rsending ocks and debris his way. Rancid dodged them carefully and performed a somersault to regain his composure.

"I'm fine. Fire at their midsections, got it?" said Rancid over his comlink.

He ran to Swiftsreech and fired his rifle at the offending Sweep. He need to stay near his comrade to stay functioning, this was not ho he intended to lose. It was too quick, too sudden.

Swiftscreech looked up at Rancid. "Thanks for the help!" he said as he got up. He then shot at Torment with his arm cannon, trying his best to hit the midsection.

"It's hard to see through this dust! I need to find my sword, I threw it at Torment!" he said to Rancid.

Their plan had gone terribly wrong. Swiftscreech wondered if he'd live through this battle.

It can't end now! If I can find my sword, I might have a chance!

Torment dodged the projection of Swiftscreetch’s sword as it flew at him. The weapon lost momentum and fell to the ground just below the sweep. But because Torment had maneuvered to avoid the sword it had put him in reception of Aftershock’s barrage of rapid shots. Because his fellow con had chose to fire rapidly with out taking his time to aim each and every shot, the hits made contact on parts of Torments body that he considered insignificant.

Although his firing at the rocks had caused the rocks to shatter all of the weapons each of them were using had been set to low. So if his blast hit the three cons it may have counted them out of the game but it certainly would not have put them in the repair bay by any means. And in turn the firepower that hit him was registered by the monitoring drones and sensors Scourge had set up to registrar the hits. Giving the Sniper a hit count of 7 but nothing to bring down his game adversary.

Torment paused as Discord began her rain of fire upon the three. He watched Rancid move to Swiftscreech. Allowing Discord to play nice with Aftershock, the Hunter lowered his altitude just as Swiftscreetch fired a well placed single shot at his midsection…….. but because the Orange and black sweep was in a downward motion as the shot was fired it did not hit the intended body part, instead it slammed into Torment’s Hull casing ( They look like angel wings on a sweep ) Knocking Torment back a few feet. The drones registered the hit. Sending the info to Scourge. Hovering low Torment raised his right arm, and activated the heat laser upon his head simultaneously he opened fire on both Swiftscreeth and Rancid. The Arm canon aimed at Rancid the heat laser at Swift. He had a third set of weapons but kept them available should Rage decide her time was up.

He trusted Discord to deal her hand without assistance.

Aftershock struggled to aim through the thick dust. And then Discord managed to fly beyond the possible aim of his rifle. And it didn't sound like his comrades were doing well either.

"This isn't working. Change of plans"

Aftershock abandoned his sniper rifle and used his shotgun instead. He knew he wouldn't have time to properly aim at Discord. But suddenly Torment took a hit from Swiftscreech buying enough time for Aftershock to aim at him while the Sweep recovered from the hit. By the time Torment began firing at his comrades, Aftershock managed to properly aim. He fired three times, hoping that Discord wasn't already behind him.

Discord has her plan well in hand, and that plan was assisting Torment in winning. He's one of the more dedicated warriors, and definitely more so than her. Odds are he's going to be the one to finish off most of the foes.
She continues her evasive maneuvers while diving. As she gets closer, she gets more and more accurate with her shots as she fires into the trio of foes.

Seeing Aftershock take up his back up weapon, she focuses her blasts of disintegrator cannon bolts on him from above. She's in no hurry to get into close range combat, yet.
Discord tries to make the best of the sniper's attention being off her, and get in as many shots as possible eager to disable him.
In truth, she saw him as one of the larger threats with his ranged weapons.

450 astro seconds left. She watched the comrades wreak havoc in the allied ranks in the early part of the battle.
She should have seen this coming. 2 of the smartest Sweeps would certainly take advantage of weaknesses, and have something tactically sound in mind. Too bad no one was officially the tactician, though Discord could work that role well.
'Great, this will be harder than I thought. Discord is playing it safe and smart, and Torment is, well, Tormenting them.' She fumes. 'With cons like these, no wonder they made us.'


Kolkular- the Hard light training room.

Octopunch was having a ball in a sea side scenario. Autobots left ripped apart, scattered and dead.

He raises one foe by the neck with both hands. His 8 limbs of his robot's attack mode are deployed, and he mauls the bot with them with malicious strength and brutality.

"Gyahahahahaha!" He tosses the battered bot aside, and launched himself at another foe.
Even he saw through the fact that the programming here made unrealistic combat scenarios some times. Seeing Optimus beaten and dead, the Dinobots (pre-earth) slagged? As if.
They were programmed by Decepticons and tended to act like Decepticons at times. They even liked trying to slaughter Decepticons.

But it was fun! And even though he's trashed the "mightiest" hard light shadows of the Autobot command structure, it still offered him the ability to experiment and expand his combat abilities. He is on par with some of the best though he didn't train under a master.
The competent fighters could see past the false glory, and actually train.

Kolkular – The corridors.

Bugly spent time contemplating soldiers. There could always be more. Especially those grunts who are destined for greatness.
But looking around he saw only the peons that he used like so much fodder, but he used them brilliantly as fodder!
Even the lowest of the low were useful in the grand scheme. A peon's death could save more important units, and even redirect the flow of the battle.
He was not the sort to toss them to their deaths pointlessly. It's deliciously cruel, but inefficient. He hadn't been promoted, twice, by being inefficient.

'Bah! Where are the true soldiers? But then again this is Kaon. It's almost a waste to have a strong military force here. Autobots haven't attacked Kaon in who knows how long. They are more likely to try and retake Tagan, or assault Polyhex, both of which actually bordered their territory. But I can't underestimate them. The moment Kaon looks open they'll attack somehow. Then again as soon as any place looks open, they'll assault that place. Hm.. He chuckles to himself. "I can't wait to implement my plans! But there's no one here I trust to relay them to, fully. They'll steal it, take control, and take credit, I wager."
He continues fleshing out the plans.

Aftershock took several hits from above. He fell over flat on his face.

How did I know that was coming?

He suddenly realised that one of his legs had been hit hard. He could not stand. The armor on his back had been cracked as well.

This is not at all going as planned.

Aftershock turned over and looked towards the sky. He saw Discord hovering above. Slowly he raised his shotgun, holding it in one hand, and fired. He was not going down without a fight.

Oh, great!

Swiftscreech saw Torment activating his heat laser and firing it at him. It hit Swiftscreech's right shoulder before he could dodge the beam, which left a scar. He ran forward, toward his sword. Knowing he was getting himself into extreme danger by getting too close to Torment, he wanted to get his sword as quick as possible.

Almost there!

He dove onto the ground and grabbed his sword.

Now I need to find a safe way to fight him with my sword

Torment was hit again by Aftershock from the side microseconds after the hit on his hull casing. This was not the first time he had been the front line in a battle. Being faster than mostly all the other sweeps caused him to be the first on the field and usually the first to be fired at. His lone wolf nature did not help either, as he was more than always alone when this happened. His internal computers registered this and relayed it to him. Perhaps today it was time to go against his own personality and work in more of a team effort with his sister.

Torment gained altitude to join Discord. As he did his optics watched as Swiftscreetch dove for his sword. The Halloween painted sweep let him go. A sword was no use unless the other con could get the Tracker face to face. Torment hovered at Discord’s side.

>>I suggest we make a more organized assault before their reinforcement joins us. With the three of them firing at me I will not be able to handle her, and by our programming she will go for the weak……… which would be me in that case.<<

He looked at her expectantly. All that time she spent smoozing with the high-ranking cons and High function command must have rubbed off on her or so he hoped. Perhaps she had a better plan than he could create seeing as torment was a loner and group attacks were not his Forte’.

Pellets struck the hull of her alt form from Aftershock's shot, wounding her as she was flying away, but not "killing" her. She finds her disintegrator cannon damaged as well. She leaves Aftershock crippled as he is... For now.
The battle recorders take note of this, and so does she, cursing to herself for not staying out of his weapon's range as she thought.
And with her disintegrator cannons being fire linked it'd take more time than she has to get it to fire just the undamaged one.
She transforms mid flight to make less use of the damaged hull now turned wings and heads for Torment meeting him outside of Aftershock's shotgun range to support him better against the other two. She has no intention of forcing him to fight two on one for long, even if one of those is not as potent as he would be.

Her aim goes towards Swiftscreech and she prepares to fire upon him as she seeks to get out of range of that triple barreled shotgun flying backwards, and also keeping away from Swiftscreech's Melee. He was pretty bold to rush the field like that. Time to make him pay for it!

Drawing a bead on Swiftscreech, having noticed the sword on her route to Torment, she fires on him mercilessly.

She then looks to Brother Torment replying on a secure channel. >>I suggest we focus on taking away their ability to fight as I did to Aftershock. He is alive but unable to move from his location with any quick speed. Further he has abandoned his sniper rifle due to my burying it in debris, thus if we are out of his fallback weapon's range then he is less of a threat if any.<< She chuckles lightly.
>>If we can do that with the other two, then we can defeat them individually, and at our leisure and they can't escape.<<
>>I feel it'd be faster to cripple them than to outright kill them and it would leave them less time to inflict damage upon us. Once Rage arrives, we will likely be in better shape, and we can lure her away from the other two, and defeat her two on one. And we can take advantage of Rage's largely uncontrolled Berserk mentality to make me the more appealing target leaving you able to shoot her from afar. I am certain I can keep her occupied for some time.<< She finishes her tactical assessment with an eerie calm, and she sounded to have thought this out clearly.


400 astroseconds left.
Rage watches, and waits. Maybe the "allies" weren't that useless. They were still alive, and fighting after all. But the infernal wait! She growls.
Then again, no one knows what'll happen. She might have a reasonable side, but that reasonable side knows she's just going to fling herself into the battle with her berserk status. She'll be able to handle quite a bit though. Still she felt like a lot of her plans were flushed away once she went berserk.

Swiftscreech was hit in the back by Discord. He fell to the ground.

Oh no

The hit did a lot of damage to his back. He dropped his sword with a clatter. He looked over towards Discord. He had no idea what she was planning to do with him next, he couldn't move.

Where's Rancid?

Aftershock saw that his comrade Swiftscreech was in trouble. He aimed his shotgun again at Discord and fired again. He knew that Discord was leaving his range and he probably would not hit her but he could not deal with having to say that he didn't try.

He dragged himself closer to Discord as he kept firing. Though one leg was useless he could pull himself forward with one arm and push with his good leg. Though he couldn't move very fast like this, it was better than just laying there. And besides, the last thing he wanted was to be seen as no longer a threat. That, to Aftershock, was worse than being beaten into stasis lock.

Kaon--Kolkular

The response that Soundwave had received had not originated from an expected source. Bombshell, the self-styled field leader of the Insecticons would rarely miss an opportunity to further ingratiate himself to those of a higher rank than he whenever the chance was available. The fact that he did not during this exchange was worthy of note, even if only a brief one, in Soundwave's personal files.

Now would begin the process of sifting through file AC488 and determining that which would ultimately prove to be useful information regarding the planet and that which only the Bombshell and his cohorts may have found to be relevant.

It was a task that few within the Decepticon empire envied, but one that Soundwave reveled in. One of many reasons he had been able to maintain the position Megatron had placed him in.

Unicron's Belly

"Not so fast, Auto-glitch."

A large armored slab slammed down in Sandstorm's path, crumpling the front end of his ATV mode. His tires went flat from the ferocious impact, and, dazed, Sandstorm transformed back into robot mode.

The slab happened to be the foot of one Dirtbag, Decepticon materials transport and all-around large, mean-spirited, dimwitted thug. To his side stood Wingspan, clone brother to the Decepticon that Sandstorm had just incapacitated. In the hands of the clone was an electro-trident, which he handily jabbed into Slipstream's hood. Half a million volts of stunning energy immobilized the scout, and meanwhile Dirtbag's enormous fists did essentially the same thing - albeit much more messily - to Sandstorm.

"I'm gonna go get a medic for Pounce," Wingspan growled to Dirtbag. "Too bad Command wants us to keep these two pieces of scraplet excrement alive. Otherwise, I'd let you have ten breems alone with each of them in a locked cell. Take them back to the cells, and this time, separate them."

The clone walked off to deal with his wounded brother, while the mammoth Dirtbag hefted Sandstorm with one arm and Slipstream with the other. It was back to confinement for the Autobots.

Kolkular – Terrorcharge's quarters

Terrorcharge sat his desk, the surface of which currently displayed a map of the battlefields at Polyhex. Terrorcharge looked at the small 3-D figure of Shockwave.
"Shockwave is certainly smart..." he said thoughtfully. "And an effective commander. Certainly an obvious choice for the next leader of the Decepticons. After all, Megatron will, inevitably fall, and when that time comes, chaos will reign as numerous Decepticons fought amongst themselves. If, no when, that happened the Autobots would take the opportunity to attack. Therefore, there had to be someone ready to take over.
"Of course, knowing how logical Shockwave, he might struggle with improvisation."
Terrorcharge pressed a button on the desk, and the screen on it's surface no longer displayed anything. He rose from his desk and went to the door, exiting the room.

Kolkular – Corridors

As he made his way down the corridor to the training centre, he saw Bugly.
"Bugly, any news from the battlefield?" he asked, walking towards him.

Bugly was on the way to his office when he encounters Terrorcharge.
Bugly regarded him with an intense stare that could make most Mechs wither under it. And that stare intensified as he realizes who had approached him. A fellow tactician, but one lesser in rank. And Terrorcharge addressed his superior as if they were equal, or maybe if Bugly were a lesser.
"In the future, I suggest you remember who are your superiors." he states calmly pointing out the rank difference, though in the back of his mind he held the notion of superiority in other fields.

He does not pursue the informality only because Terrorcharge was the only Mech. he had seen, aside from Octopunch that wasn't fodder. If it were another time or place then the informality would not stand.

Bugly replies calmly "There have been no reports made of the war recently."
He was quite annoyed at the stated fact, but didn't show it.

Kolkular, Skyjack's Quarters

Skyjack proceded to unpack his personal items in his quarters. I could really care less about this stupid war, he thought to himself. Skyjack was originally an accountant in a transportation business. He didn't get his position, however, by playing fairly. He backstabbed, spred lies about his rivals, and lied his way to luxury. However, he wasn't as good as a theif, and when all of his embezzling was discovered, he joined the military to escape the law. After unpacking, he activated the communications system in his room. "Attention," He spoke into it, "This is Skyjack, the new espionage agent, I would like to talk to whoever is in charge around here."

Rancid ran from the blasts of the Sweeps; he was going to survive, even if his comrades were not. He threw one of his energy daggers at Torment, aiming for his only weakpoint, his midsection. If that missed he knew Torment would find it his obligation to get up close and personal. He was a good hunter, but he was still prone to anger.

Rancid then took a running start a jumped high into the air using his flight to aid him. He never liked flying anyways, he wasn't even sure he could fly, only that he had great jumping skills. While in the air he held one dagger in one hand and his small rifle in the other.

Come get me, you blowhard angel.

Kolkular, Skyjack's quarters

With a heavy sigh, Skyjack switched off the communications system and stepped outside.

Kolkular, Corridors

As Skyjack stepped outside, he thought to himself, If I want to get anything out of anyone, it looks like I'll have to do it myself. As he roamed around, looking for someone who had an idea as to what he should do, he noticed Bugly and Terrorcharge. He calmly strode upp to them, and, in his most formal voice, asked "Greetings gentlemen. I'm Skyjack, the new espionage agent that was requested. I wasn't exactly well informed upon my arrival, and I'd like to know where I may be of service. Since you two look well-informed, perhaps you have any idea?"

Aftershock's first shot got her attention, and fell short of hitting her. The second was dodged even though it'd not even welt her paint job if it hit.
And now she were disappointed. He could have at least tried to sneak up on her, though that's virtually impossible. Still, he has some tenacity. Not that it would do him any good since not only is he in range of Discord to fire back, but Torment as well.

In a lightning quick movement she used the damaged wing of hers to shield Torment from the dagger meant for him since she was in close proximity, and the wing is pretty superficial at the moment, so it's better her wing than the vitals of her partner. The dagger does penetrate the wing but stops at the hilt.

>>Dear brother Torment, kindly shoot Aftershock?<< She radioed privately in a kind tone, covering her annoyance at her foes.
The reason why she asks would be obvious in a moment as she fires her heat laser at the closer Rancid in a quasi-surprise attack since she was likely seen by Rancid as the pair are in close proximity, but his attention was on Torment. Just how ready he is for her attack she doesn't know. She doesn't really care. He was the better target at the moment.
And since Rancid can't fly, he'd likely be hard pressed to dodge the fast as light laser beam in mid air.

If he was flying, the sensor array at the canyons would pick it up, and if he tried to flee vertically, the mines would explode upon him, as stated by Scourge in the briefing.


Rage watched time tick away, 250 astroseconds left, and watched her "allies" get decimated.
She boils, and brews. Anger starts taking over. The battle would be over in Kliks. She'd better not be in there alone.
Her mouth becomes a deep snarl. It'd foam over if it could. She almost hated being a sweep seeing things in this light. She's here to mop up after the old guard's foul ups. But every army has their less than potent units.

Kolkular – Corridors

Bugly's intense stare went from Terrorcharge to the newcomer, Skyjack.
"I suggest you try to enjoy the lull in combat. When another such time will come again we never know. Enjoy the hard light training simulator. The fine cuisine. Take some time to learn and better yourself?"
He didn't want to tell him the truth as he knew it. That Kaon is a quiet place. That the odds of a battle here are next to nil short of training. After all this is the capital of the Decepticon empire. It's going to be well defended. But odds are good that every last person here will see actions against the Autobots.
"Our time on the battlefields will come soon. Do not worry. With the recent combat in Tagan Heights, and Polyhex, the front lines need time to regroup and plan the next strike."
He paused a moment. "I have no orders for either of you, but if you are feeling bold, Sweeps Commander Scourge is stationed here as is Soundwave. If you are really eager for orders, report to one of them. They might have need in your talents. Especially Soundwave."
He looks to Terrorcharge. "Maybe you have orders for Skyjack?"

This must be how my targets feel.

Aftershock thought back on previous battles. He had always sniped at the Autobots' legs to cripple them, so they could do nothing but lie and wait for the end to come. Autobots still got away at times. But there was always that one Autobot that couldn't get away and consequently met a very grim end.

I'm not going to be that Autobot.

He crawled back slowly-yet as quick as he possibly could-back to where his sniper rifle was. He pulled it off of its stand and stood up as much as he could on one leg.


This calls for desparate action.

When Aftershock tooka a bad hit to the back, the fuel supply to his jets was disrupted. He could still hover, but he could only do so for a fraction of the time he normally could have. He had intended to save what he could for when he absolutely could not wait any longer and now seemed to be the time. He began hovering; his feet only inches above the ground. It was enough to keep moving without using much of his oh-so-limited fuel.

He raised both rifle and shotgun and fired at both Torment and Discord simultaneously while also moving towards them, getting both weapons in their proper ranges of their targets. He learned something from his initial failure. Firing quickly wasn't the solution. This time, he made sure each shot was properly aimed at a target before firing.

"Yes, I do... sir." replied Terrorcharge. He found Bugly's indignance entertaining. He then addressed Skyjack.
"I suggest you settle in Skyjack, and perhaps train for a while. Bugly, perhaps we shall meet again later, sir." He made his way down the corridor.

Finally he arrived at Soundwave's location.
He saluted, and said "Lord Soundwave, Tactician Terrorcharge reporting for duty."

In orbit above Kaon

The sweep silently approached cybertron, heading towards Kaon. He enjoyed these moments of solitude in the quiet of space. Being away from all the inferior and jealous Decepticons gave him time to reflect on his past and where he is going. These times alone reivigorated his zeal for serving Megatron. Few Transformers had the ability to forsee the future as Megatron could, and that is why Macabre offered his complete obedience and dedication to the Decepticon leader.

Macabre's sensors alerted him to change his vector for his final approach to Kolkular.

<<This is Macabre of the sweep army calling Decepticon headquarters. I'm switching to vector 32.7 for final approach>>

Macabre then opened a secure com-link to Scourge, speaking to the sweep commander in an egregious, calculating tone.

<<My master, I return from my mission... I have been... Well, let us say I was successful. I shall return to Kolkular to await an opportunity to report my findings to you. Everlasting glory to Megatron! Macabre out.>>

Approaching Kolkular, Macabre transformed back to robot mode. He preferred to enter the Decepticon fortress via the front gate. That way he might have an opportunity to gloat to some of the lesser Decepticons. Besides, he felt that a shuttle bay was far too beneath a warrior of his rank.

Landing and heading inside, MAcabre decided to head to the Forge. He enjoyed seeing the rows of automaton sweep warriors in their deactivated state. He imagined the horror an Autobot would feel to see these dolls come to life only to tear him apart. Unfeeling and ruthless. The thought sent a crackle of electricity through his primary sensory system, causing an involuntary shiver. That shiver always made him smile.

Kolkular, firing range

Skyjack concentrated on the targets. He had only used his rocket launcher once, and he didn't want to. But, that pesky secratary was threatening to turn him in to the authorities, so he did what was necessary. As he vaporized one target after another, he thought about what Bugly had told him. He could report to Soundwave, but he was kind of creepy, the way he acted and all. Skyjack thought that he was always upto something, and that didn't sit well with him. Scourge on the other hand, was powerful, and was close to a lot of action. His men also wound up serving high-ranked officials...

...as their personal punching bags. Skyjack made up his mind sometime today, he should see Soundwave. But first, he thought, I should see some of that cusine Bugly was talking about.

Torment nodded to Discord’s request. He had been slightly surprised by her actions, as he stared at the dagger protruding from her “wing”. Turning he made ready to attack Aftershock. He was about to raise his arm canon when a blast from Aftershock’s Rifle hit him in the chest, knocking him from the sky. Torment crashed in what looked to be a painful manor. Groaning he got up slowly, he was but a few feet from his assailant. He placed his hand over the area where he had been shot. Of course there was no true damage but his systems registered it as a Hole in his chest plate for the purposes of the exercise.

If it had been at full power it would have been a dangerous hit. He took the few steps between them closing the small distance in mere astroseconds. With his left hand the orange and black sweep grabbed Aftershock’s functioning leg, and in a solid motion yanked hard, intending to throw the Sniper to the ground.

At the same time His right arm which ended in a canon went up to knock the weapons from Aftershock’s hands. The hunter glared at his prey with burning optics, his faceplate hiding the grim look that would have painted his already frightening face.

Kolkular, Skyjack's Quarters

Skyjack relaxed in his quarters. He was all ready to go see Soundwave. To impress the main espionage director , he had done a lot of reseach on stealth, espionage, and other cloak-and-dagger activities.

He had also done what Bugly had advised, and sampled the local cusine. Two restaunts in particular had seemed "useful" to him. One was an upper class resturaunt with rich, well-to-do customers. Skyjack had managed to get along with and appear fiendly to some of the people there. The other was a seedy bar where the waitresses would walk around minus their torso plates, and it was filled with lowlifes. Skyjack had managed to earned a position of respect there too. This was good. It meant he had friends in both high and low places.
