Hey gang - it's my first post here. I'm a mega fan of Transformers and when I found out about this guy, I had to create an account to tell you all.
The other day scrolling through Facebook I got one of those 'suggested' posts and it was a picture of the Optimus Prime truck from Transformers 4 (also the same one they are using in T5 next year). So I clicked on it and it took me to a Facebook page of a dad who actually built it!!
I spent some time reviewing his profile and he claims to have gotten permission from Hasbro to do the build (very cool if he did). He apparently did not have any specs or plans or detailed files from the original creators, and did it all using photos from the internet. And he has posted the entire build (pics, videos, commentary, etc.) from the very beginning. So you can actually see what he started with and how far he came.
I have to say I was blown away at what he was able to put together. There are some obvious differences if a mega fan stares at it long enough. But on the road you'd never know the difference. What made it even better for me though is that he did it to inspire his son (not because he was wealthy or wanted to profit from it), and even takes to places like children's hospitals.
Here's a link to his Facebook page of the truck if you want to check it out:

For those who don't have Facebook, here's one of his photos from the page. Regardless of whether or not you like the truck or the Bay movies, you have to give the guy credit for what he did in the name of Transformers. Incredible work!!
