Devastator issues

Devastator issues and how much I like the comic version.
I've watched every episodes of the G1 Transformers and read a lot of comics and I've closely watched most the Transformations/mergings of Devastator. (Which is very interesting.)

There are 3 kinds used often:
The first is the correct one where everybody changes into what they supposed to be according to the toy and the regular base.

Mixmaster - left leg
Scrapper - right leg
Long Haul - Belly and partially the back
Hook - Chest and head
Scavenger - right arm
Bonecrusher - left arm

What I never liked about the G1 cartoon is the fact that the torso was drawn as one part: meaning that it was never clear where Long Haul and Hook met, which presumable should be behind the chestplate. But even then it was often drawn wrong. Hook was even only the head in The Core.

The second one is the wrong one where it is all drawn bad, which happened too often during the G1 cartoon, especially during season 3. (I've seen a merging of 7 constructicons in Carnage in C-minor where Scavenger even acts as the right leg. And Devastator was shot into peaces by Perceptor. )

The third one is the one often used in comics. They managed to draw the torso just right because they where able to draw Long Haul and Hook as two parts connected to each other.

What I also liked was that the catterpillars from Scavenger and Bonecrusher became their lower arms instead of black blocks that just appeared like in the G1 cartoon.
And the fact that Long Hauls legs changed into the upper legs of Devastator, making Scrappers and Mixmasters part look smaller. But I might vote for an option of a 7th Constructicon where Hook stays the chest, Long Haul becomes the belly and his legs the back, and the 7th becomes the hip and lower legs part.

This picture comes from the newer comics RiD, where in this case Hook is the right leg because Scrapper was dead. And..eh..Prowl is the chest part, which is why Devastator's head has those red things. But it shows what part Long Haul is and the lower arms of Scav and Bone.

My take on Devastator, cartoon or comic:

Badass toy. (All versions, official and 3rd party)
Rarely used in comics. (Dreadful shame)
Mis-animated in cartoon with as much regularity as anyone else.

In ROTF, Bay's version of Devastator is more flexible in that extra Constructicons can join if necessary to increase the gestalt's size and power. However, a large gestalt like him is so heavy that he usually has to walk on all fours to distribute the weight more evenly. Steel can only take so much load before it starts to buckle.

I always thought that was a dumb argument. He should have walked upright. They aren't made of steel, they're made of Transformium, as we learned in AoE.
