But we have to take into consideration the hollowed parts may have caused Muffin to go OT but based on an article I read about Aaron Archer when he was at Hasbro, the rising cost of plastics gave him headaches.....this factor probably contributed to a lot of shrinking and hollowing of recent TF products.

Ex-Gokin A-3 cost more, has die-cast, smaller and non transforming, quality almost like Bandai's SOC.....see the analogy?

Hasbro needs to earn regardless (btw, I ain't no shill for them). They have to contend with keeping prices low, safety concerns etc. 3rd party don't have to as their's is a focused collector market...the client don't/can't complain that much.

Now that oil costs around $80/barrel, maybe we'll see a resurgence of bigger, less hollow and cheaper TFs?

That'd be nice. I'd just like to clarify that my OP was strictly concerning the quality of the components used and the cost cutting measures used in this figure. I absolutely love the actual design of Jetfire. I just hate the hollow bits, cheap looking chrome, thin plastic walls, missing paint apps and overall price tag for what you're getting. Amount of toy you're getting vs. cost of the toy you're getting seems waaaaayyyy too skewed lately.

Mostly it's Hasbro that disgusts me. The toy screams bottom line over quality. The movie line is in a similar situation. Instead of spending money to design an interesting transformation the line is filled with 3 steps and other simple designs.

$22 Marvel Legend and Star Wars figures are high on my WTF list as well.

the only movie figure (of the 8+ variety) that said bottom line to me was leader prime and voyager galvatron. though galvy is one of the few AOE figures i dont own, so i cant really comment on it. everything else is pretty normal as far as movie toys go.

and the 1steps and stuff, thats for the wee ones.

I have been pretty upset about the over all quality of these toys lately too. I guess I'm a pretty "glass half full" kinda guy.
It's like, I can't freakin' stand Jar Jar but, at least there was lots of Jedi action.
It's funny the things we will tell ourselves because we don't want to give up on the things we love.

Since then I bought Rattrap as I'm okay with him having hollow bits as he's tiny and that's how deluxes and smaller have always been. Other than him I've not picked anything else up. Nothing in the movie line is interesting to me. I passed on Sunstorm as I have 4 other seekers and I'm tired of the mold. They really need to come up with some interesting molds and transformations soon. Granted I'm happy having extra money, but I miss randomly walking by the Transformers and picking out a random cool looking one to buy. I'd kill a hobo for something as intricate and involved as ROTF Leader Prime again.

The ROTF/HFTD line will be hard to beat. Massive figures, extremely advanced engeneering, hig quality everything. TF was at it's summum then.
Will another line with the level of engeneering and quality that were in ROTF ever come again?

I pine for the days of TF Galaxyforce...............beefy, thick and heavy.

One more thing, the Hasbro Jetfire is surprisingly more accurate in paint apps to the cartoon Jetfire compared to the Tomy version

Galvatron is kind of my favorite AOE guy so far. Simple, yes, but solid.

Yeah, I was surprised when I got it. It's a fair representation of the character, even with the simpler transformation. I keep him in truck mode, and I really like the colors of the cab. Black, silver and gray. It just works.

As for Jetfire, I might get him just to keep him robot mode, that way I can put G1 Jetfire in jet mode. Still, $25 or less.

A week or three ago I had the movie badguys on display in my living room, from 2007 leader Megatron to Galvatron. Galvatron fits the baddies almost perfectly in terms of colorscheme. Granted that be could use some detailing, but overall he does not stand out in any negative manner.

Hi. Some of you may remember me as NOT a movie fan. Some times there is a movie toy I like because it's just a really fun toy. 2007 Leader Prime, Sea Spray, for example.
I pick Galvatron up often when I see him and debate in my mind. That robot mold is just sculpted really well, and the Alt mode is really sleek. Despite the fact that he is just kind of wearing the truck as a "hoodie".
Seeing good feed back on him makes me consider him more.

I know this is a Jetfire thread. Just thought I'd chime in.

Yeah, Seaspray is not technically a movie toy. I consider him a similar reimagining of a character just like the Hotspot/Grapnel mold is.

Ya. Most my fav movie era toys are the ones that weren't in the movie. Bludgeon (both classes), Hoist, Gears, Lugnut, Mindwipe, most the scouts.
As I would like to get rid of my ROTF Megatron, maybe this Galvatron can take his place.
'07 Leader Prime is still gonna need someone to wail on.
