Not nearly enough paint to justify buying this over the Hasbro one...unless you simply couldn't find the Hasbro version.

On BBTS. He is listed on other sites, but BBTS is stateside so the shipping is less.

I just looked it up and there Pre-Order limit is sold out.

KaPow, YaHobby and 3+ and Up all have it for Pre-Order. 3+ and Up has it listed at $8 cheaper then everyone else.

Does that take shipping into account? Shipping from RobotKingdom to the U.S. is going to cost quite a bit more than buying a domestic Hasbro version.

Also, don't you think the domestic retail release will probably cost less than $130? I believe Hasbro has said the MSRP will be $124.99, so retailers will probably put it on their shelves for like $119.99.

When you take shipping into account, importing the Takara version vs buying at U.S. retail will probably be close to double the price. Instead of $170 vs $130, it's probably going to be more like $200 vs $120.

Paying a 30-60% markup for an extra gun and a few extra paint apps? Not worth it.

I'm curious to see how the two guns can be implemented in the base mode(s). Knowing it could add another tower would be a bonus... plus the comic appearance has two prominent guns in city mode. Hmmmm.

Yeah, it adding another buck or so isn't a big deal in the grand scheme. Honestly I'd rather have had them SELL scamper on the shelf, and then include the extra gun.

Considering Kapow are only charging a fiver more, I think I'll be getting the Takara version. Of course, it's already $250 from them, going by the currency conversion, so either way the UK is getting the shaft big time, still, buying from TFSource for the same is going to add shipping on top of that. Maybe if I see the US version go up for pre-order at $100 or so I'll bite the bullet.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Well while I am not stoked about the price for the Takara version, but I looked at it like this. I placed my pre-order for it, this way I am covered. If I come across the Hasbro version I can consider if I still want to keep my pre-order but if my stores never get it, at least I will have mine.

Wouldn't the shipping charge be identical for both versions? The price for both would increase, and the percentage difference between them would decrease.

If I can find tha mofo in stores, because Hasbro will be suddently intelligent by putting some french on that box and releasing it in ALL the stores, then only the 15% taxes would apply.

It's a definite if minor improvement but as craggy pointed out, the price difference between the two versions for us Brits is also pretty minor. It's be stupid for me to not go for the Takara figure.

Sure, Takara's Metroplex might have more paint in robot mode, but it also has less paint in altmode.

They dark runways on the Hasbro version are left white on Takara's toy.

And many of the finer details made by the stickers on the Hasbro version, like the caution signs, are absent on Takara's Metroplex.

missing the black runways... ie. the top of the land-aircraft-carrier mode? I haven't seen any photos depicting the difference that I could notice.

Either way, I think some drastic differences between the two is nice for those buying two. If the merged double-metroplex mode I found on the G1 still works... gonna build a giant city. GIANT I TELL YOU! Mwahahahahah. :KREMZEEK:

Holy moly. That's new! I kept seeing photos with the Hasbro vehicle swapped in.

I'm actually really glad to see this. Being more G1 accurate kinda ensures I'll get this version. Looks like his cockpit is painted as well, plus some gray paint apps on the bottom of the red guns. Very nice.

And I think I'm most excited to get this guy into some decent fan modes. Should be a load of fun.

As always, I really appreciate the help (and knowledgeable contributions) Sabrblade. Cheers!

Though, he has none of the caution signs the Hasbro toy has, so that's a lot of details lost.
