Grimlock's line was an omage to the movie "of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck, where you could hear Lenny saying: “Tell me about the rabbits, George”. That would be enough to make many people think that Petrorabbits are just a joke, but not me:)
The first useful thing I found about petrorabbits was page from "Cybertron Bestiary". Sadly I found only one photo in low resolution so I am not sure if it is official or just fanart. Nevertheless this was my starting point for this figure. Because I've never seen any custom Petrorabbit before I can say this is probably the first one ever done:)
Main materials I used for this custom were table tennis balls, some styrene, plastic spoons and a little screw which will be the tail.
I wanted my figure to be something in between cute puppy and dangerous beast.
That's why I used some silver paint with shading effect to counter soft lines and round shape.
Another minor details I added were pinkish spots on "cheeks" and ears. Those help diversify colours.
I also installed some ballast in the lower part of the figure. This way it won't roll all over the place and it always comes back to the neutral position.
To make my figure feel more evil and dangerous I added red eyes with glowing effect. I also included small energon cube to accompany my Petrorabbit.
When main colorurs were done I added some black lines to highlight the paintjob more. When it Cured I applied some gloss clearcoat.
The paint scheme I used works best in darker lightning but I forgot to show it in my gallery. Luckily above picture shows what I mean:)
I scaled my Petrorabbit to match Masterpiece figures. I believe it will look great with them.
Grimlock always wanted to know the story about Petrorabbits but he probably never thought he would own one as a pet.
