Generations Impactor

Postby Jin Saotome » Tue Sep 17, 2013 10:30 am

The Wreckers are an elite team of Autobots that are called in when there is a small chance of success and a high chance of casualties. Leading the team is the mighty Impactor, a legend in the field. We have a Fall of Cybertron Wreckers team but they're based off the FoC Bruticus molds, not a perfect choice for the characters really. Here I'm 'reformatting' the Wreckers with all new bodies starting with Impactor! He was created from the FoC Optimus body with the original Impactor head, Veritech shoulder cannon, treads/kneepads/harpoon/grille from various fodder figures/vehicles. I wrapped him up using a weathered metallic orange and purple paint job and modded Roadbuster's gun. Keep an eye out for the rest of the reformatted Wreckers team!

Wonderful work, as always! It really captures the Last Stand of The Wreckers feel of the character, especially the shoulder cannon and harpoon. Thanks for keeping the rest of us inspired! :APPLAUSE:

That last pic! With the dark background, most of the tread on his right leg blends in. This gave the effect that the harpoon is dripping water. I love that pic!!

This was a clever take on the character. From the pics it appears flawless. Very nice work!

Pack it up, guys. Game over. Jin wins. We can all go home now.

Seriously, if Hasbro/Takara mass-produced these, my life would be maximum complete. :x

Best Custom Figure Ever! :KREMZEEK: I tip my hat to you, Jin :BOT: This figure is not only burning a hole in my pocket but it is also an inspiration. Well done, Jin. I did, however attempt to bid on Impactor when he was up on eBay but I lost :p lol. So I have decided to make my own. Using the same figures, parts and colors (as much as I can find anyway, lol). I did some research for the other "Fodder" figures and the list goes as follows: >:oP

Jin's List:

-Impactor: Fall of Cybertron (Head)
-Optimus Prime: Fall of Cybertron (Body)
-Veritech: Unknown figure (Shoulder Cannon)

Jin's Fodder:

-Tankor: Beast Machines or Universe (Tank Treads)
-Hoist: Armada (Chest Grill)
-Unknown figure (Hook)
-Unknown figure (Knee Pads)

The fodder figures were hard to research, especially the two that I couldn't find, lol. But I figured that the Tank Treads and Chest Grill were a high priority, lol. Still, I Hope to find the figure with the Hook... if not... just Heavy/Scratch one. Thank you Jin for your hard work and inspiration! 'Til All Are One!! :BOT:

Impactor's hook is the missile that came with Generations: Fall of Cybertron Impactor.

Ah yes... that is actually very convenient, was going to heavy/scratch my own some how, lol. Thank you, Mindmaster ;) I'll just alter the missile when I get it and attach it.

Also, after much research on the shoulder cannon:

-Veritech: 1/100 MACROSS SUPER WEAPONS SET VF-1J

You could just as well get the cannon from a figure but the Weapon set was cheaper, lol. Plus I decided to get the set for "MILIA" because it was red and I might be able to do some "Jetfire" work with it later somehow 8)

Otherwise, all the known parts have been purchased and are on the way!! I thank Jin again for such an amazing custom figure. I'd also like to acknowledge Hasbro's great detailed work on Impactor's head. Perfect down to the last detail, just needs a new paint job (a Jin paint job!), lol. :BOT:

Wow, thanks for all those comments everyone, I didn't know Impactor would make such an...impact? Heh. Seriously, I hope to inspire you all to make your own Impactors since his head is readily available now. There's a couple different bodies you could use for him, this one just worked for me.

Impactor's harpoon could be anything really but the actual piece is a modified arrow tip from a 200X Jungle Attack He-man. I shaved down one side and clipped the other blade into a barb.

Mr. Jin Saotome... it is us who thank YOU! I am making two of these at the same time right now! lol (I bought two Tankors because I thought that one of them wasn't being shipped :p) Had bad luck with my Pearl Orange spray paint though :( gonna try something different. (I use spray because I'm only any good with a brush on touch up, not whole parts, lol). Many different bodies could be used, but the Prime body that you chose was perfect. And 'He-Man' eh? Well, might not search for him, I already Rotary tooled the heck out of the hook that came with FOC Impactor :HEADHURTS: ;-) I also decided to include the tip of Tankors cannon on the tip of the Veritech cannon. I'll get a photo or two up when I am finished. All Hail Jinatron! for his amazing work and ideas! :BOT:

What I have so far (haven't attached the cannon yet - almost done! :HEADHURTS: ) I went with all the necessary Jin Parts (Chest grill, Tank treads, Macross cannon) with the exception of retooling the missile that came with Generations Impactor to be his new, and fully functional I might add, right hand. Yes, it still turns a swell 360, lol. In addition to the Macross weapon set, I noticed a bunch of small missiles... the tips of these missiles looked like bolts... 2+2=4. I couldn't help myself, so I shaved off a few of those bad boys and slapped them on his shoulders, lol. Wasn't too hard, just shaved the end off is all. I used a "Plum Crazy Metallic" spray for his purple color. I wanted to go for his Old Cybertronian worker yellow so I used "Camel Yellow" spray and glazed it over with a few layers of Testors "Turn Signal Amber Metallic". Also, I decided to use a 'Gold' Autobot emblem on his chest because it fit the color scheme, for me. And finally, I left his knees alone so that I could keep another small part of him close to being 'Fall of Cybertron'(Plus I couldn't find any knee pads I really wanted to use  ). I showed a buddy of mine and he said: "Look, it's Husky colors!" lol. Maybe he should be submitted as UW's new mascot :-? Anyway, here's a few pictures. I'll get updated ones soon. I set Impactor next to Takara Optimus Prime & Takara Ultra Magnus so it could be like a "Trinity" of fancyness :KREMZEEK: Again, thank you Jin for your inspiration (and Hasbro for an awesome sculpt of a head, lol) :BOT:

Here's that "Old Cybertronian Worker" look I was talking about (minus the black & yellow bars on mine of course... I'd like to have a Drill handy though for interchangable fists 8) ):

Those both look great. I was hoping for a generations figure that was close to the IDW character and was highly disappointed with the FOC mold we got instead. I can't wait to see the rest of your Wreckers squad Jin!
