I don't think Hasbro's relationship with VW has much to do with it rather $$$ and not wanting to be stuck having to license every use of the mold. No licensing requirement means more profit for themselves. The new mold also looks less like a VW Beetle than even the missing link figure, so they can defintely get away without the licensing.

Then perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe we've seen the last of Hasbro working with VW since they don't have many (any?) other opportunities coming up since the movies have moved on. Maybe that's even why Hasbro still hasn't offered the Missing Link cars yet.

Both, actually, according to the latest rumors (with Flame being made from Studio Series Gamer Edition Megatron).Rtron wrote:I'm guessing the next figure will be Flame and/or Xaaron.

He's a retool of Skullgrin and those are just either a recolor or a variation on Skullgrin's accessories.

That was going to be my guess. For a minute, I thought they might do something crazy and dust off the TR toy, just with a permanent head. But thehn I remembered that was a Hardhead retool. Quake was more of a classic tank that a Skullgrin retool can pull off...
Man I must have been looking at pics of those TF One toys for too long

"Parts-sharing", then?Emerje wrote:SpaceEagle wrote:Maybe a case of shared engineering?
They still share parts, but just based on the art it's only some of the torso. "Retool" (or partial) is such a broad term that can mean anything from a head swap to only sharing joints.

And only briefly appeared in one more scene afterward (Starscream's botched coronation) as a silent cameo.

I hope the other two are Slugfest and Overkill. Probably too much to hope for, for them to be Squaktalk and Beastbox. None of those 5 have had releases in the seige and up scale.
The latest rumors say it's a 2-pack of Xaaron and Flame, with Flame being made from Gamer Edition Megatron. Xaaron is also a short guy with yellow hands, so that'd be his hand on the packaging.Guuhatsu wrote:as for the next release of the comic book series, I think that it is Scrounge, maybe with a Blaster. the hand is at Straxus' knee and if the little yellow bit is a more exaggerated shoulder piece, that would make that bot the same height as Scrounge in the comic. (shoulder to Straxus' hip) and I read somewhere that it would be a two pack. So a Voyager Blaster and a Core Scrounge would make up the leader level of the other releases. Also Scrounge is tied to Straxus in the comic, and Blaster is a foil for both Straxus and Grimlock, so he would go well with the theme.

It's not, he has orange arms. Most likely it's Flame since that would be his red Shoulder as well. Colors are right but the layout is wrong.

I don't see it being Xaaron, even though I would like to get him. I hope it's not Flame. I would love it if it was a Blaster-Scrounge set, even it that was the 5th release of that Blaster mold.Guuhatsu wrote:as for the next release of the comic book series, I think that it is Scrounge, maybe with a Blaster. the hand is at Straxus' knee and if the little yellow bit is a more exaggerated shoulder piece, that would make that bot the same height as Scrounge in the comic. Or, his original head.Overcracker wrote:New Pics of the Thundertron set.
Loving his new head sculpt. Reminds me of Davey Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean for some reason.
