Help me decode BBTS categories please?

Postby Adrobiel » Sat Jul 17, 2010 6:22 am

Hi Everyone.

I was looking at Big Bad Toy Store's online shop in hopes to preorder the next wave of the Generations series.

I was perplexed, however about how they were labeling their sets of 4 and could not determiine what the "next waxe" was exactly. For example, you can get a set of 4 of Series one, containing Optimus, Bumblebee, Drift and Thrust yet Series Series two contains Optimus, Bumblebee, Darkmount and Megatron. Series 3 which is the one I think I need to get next has Megatron, Soundwave, Darkmount and Red Alert. Also thrown in randomly in some packs for good measure is Dirge and Blurr which I can't seem to find a definitive category for.

Maybe because I'm not a long time collector I'm missing some key elements in the way they are organised, but can anyone just tell me which ones are coming out next or clue me in on how to decode their listings? :)

Or if there is any better place to be getting these considering I live in Australia. The figures here are $30 AUD and even converting and adding shipping, it seems getting them from elsewhere is still cheaper.

Thanks for any advice :)

Adrobiel.

Motto: "The only good is knowledge, and the only evil is ignorance."
Like other retailers, BBTS orders the figures by case, and sells them either individually, or per case if you wanna get them all in one go. What people often think is that a case equals a series of "wave", and that figures ship in only one of them. That's not the case. Most figures, especially popular characters, are shipped within multiple waves to ensure a good stock, and in later wavess the others are switched out for new figures to keep stock up-to-date.

Here's an easy to understand list:

Generations Wave 1
Cybertronian Optimus Prime
Cybetronian Bumblebee
Thrust
Drift

Generations Wave 2
Cybertronian Optimus Prime (repeat)
Cybetronian Bumblebee (repeat)
Cybetronian Megatron (switched out with Thrust)
Darkmount (switched out with Drift)

Generations Wave 3
Cybertronian Megatron (repeat)
Darkmount (repeat)
Cybertronian Soundwave (switched out with Optimus Prime)
Red Alert (switched out with Bumblebee)

In short, each new wave has two repeats, and two new figures. Crap, this means Thrust and Drift are wave 1 only!
Top 5 Priorities:

1) BW Neo X-7 Elphaorpha
2) BW II VS-18 Powerhug vs. Autocrusher
3) Universe 2003 Night Slash Cheetor
4) RiD Landfill (regular, not the yellow)
5) BW Convobat (red) & Megalligator (purple)

Also looking for any clear Arms Microns, like Shadow (Gora & R.A.), Hellflame and Shining (O.P. and R.A.).

Thanks so much for clearing that up for me :)

So I guess it is safe to say that Wave 4 will consist of Blurr and Dirge with a repeat from from wave 3 or something of the like?

With a repeat of Red Alert and Soundwave, that's quite possible. :) Can't wait.
