Hey. I'm considering using itunes to download some music, and was wondering if the itunes store is secure when buying the songs? Has anyone ever had any problems with the store? Any help will be very much appericated.

All transactions go through a ton of security and stuff to ensure no information gets leaked. I for one have never heard of a single person getting shafted through Itunes.

Itunes wrote:How we protect your personal information

Apple takes precautions — including administrative, technical, and physical measures — to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

The Apple Online Store and iTunes Music Store use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all web pages where personal information is required. To make purchases from the Apple Online Store or iTunes Music Store, you must use an SSL-enabled browser such as Safari, Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later, or Internet Explorer. Doing so protects the confidentiality of your personal and credit card information while it’s transmitted over the Internet.

You can help us by also taking precautions to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet. Change your passwords often using a combination of letters and numbers, and make sure you use a secure web browser like Safari.

There are plenty of problems with iTunes. For example you can only copy a song to a certain number of computers/disks but if you buy the song again that number isn't reset. Security, however, isn't one of those problems.

Well i think thats standard practice for all legal download services, i found this out after i brought a load of songs from Ripit.co.nz, but really its just nice to be able to get the songs you want, instead of buying the whole CD.

I think it's fair. The songs are licensed to you for personal use, after all. You hardly have more than 5 computers.

Yeah, though it pisses me off that nowadays you can't copy a CD you bought to your computer (Well without using a few bits of software).
They can license downloaded stuff for digital movement, so why not tracks brought on CD?

Eh? I've never had a problem creating a copy of one of my CD's. Hell I do the ripping right in windows media player.

3 working computers at home (a laptop, a desktop for gaming, and a desktop for work and school), 2 iPods (including an older one with a screwy battery), and the computers at work and school. I could see 5 copies per download but it's 5 copies no matter how many times you pay for it. In most cases I'm better off just buying the cd for 3 or 4 bucks more than the whole album download.

Odd, when ever i put a copy protected CD into my computer the tracks don't open in media player, the CD has its own player built in, and you can't just explore the CD to get the tracks either, all the songs and player are just one or two files on the bloody CD.
