It's not what could make sence it's what works for the show and it's limited characters it's not like g1 with a bunch of bots everywhere and it's a kid show we don't wanna confuse them right lol
All I'm saying is that Prime Wheeljack used to be an engineer for the Wreckers, but isn't anymore. While Ratchet may have some tech smarts, it isn't his primary function.

After Ratchet left Cybertron on the Ark, Wheeljack was the guy the Wreckers turned to for gizmos and weaponry. But, that's in the past since he's grown to be more of a warrior now. None of this comes from G1 or comic books or whatever. It's all in the continuity of TF: Prime.

Do they make a comic book with like back stories or something because the only stuff I know about wheeljack is from the show they don't say that much about him. If so I would like to read it because the only thing TFs to read now is the 2 new series from IDW plus autocracy and it's not enuff to keep me satisfied lol. I do have to finish exodus it's hard to get into it since I kinda know the story.
This info on Jackie came from the Exiles novel, sequel to Exodus. ;)

Here's a list of all the main fiction for this continuity:
War for Cybertron (video games)
Exodus (novel)
War for Cybertron (single-issue exclusive comic book)
Prime (cartoon)
Exiles (novel)
Rescue Bots (cartoon)
Fall of Cybertron (video games)
Universe (MMORPG game)
Online (MMORPG game)
Prime (video games)

So wfc is leading up to the prime series I heard that but dosnt make sence because megatron looks nothing alike from his cybertron look in the came to the show plus they showed bee on cybertron when ratchet tells the story about his voice box and he looks the same as he does in the show not like wfc or FOC do they explain this at all. And I didn't even know their was a sequel to exodus I'm slacking I've been so wrapped up in trying to find the new prime figures and 3rd party stuff plus all my dcuc figures and the crap Mattel is pulling I'm just glad they don't make TFs we would all be **** out of luck lol. But thanks on the info now I got something to read between all my green lantern series batman and his crew and IDWs TFs.

In triangulation, Prime comments on how Wheeljack is... not like Ratchet, and isn't a scientist. They sorta manage to solidify the fact that Wheeljack isn't the Wheeljack we know as being a tech savvy inventor, which is kinda lame. But then, Starscream isn't really much of a "scientist" in Prime either... sooo whatever I guess.

It's worth noting that Starscream obviously has some experience with protoforms though. He didn't hesitate to extract some of his own energon to transplant into those protoforms in the episode "Armada". Not only did he know that putting energon into them would awaken them, he knew specifically that the result would be clones of himself.

And it appears he knows HOW to install the T-Cog, even if he might be a little afraid to do it.

This is true, and while I was thinkin about my comment, it occured to me that he sort of does demonstrate enough scientific capability to go along with the rest of the back story. Fair enough. Wheeljack on the other hand is warrior this warrior that. He might have changed into a warrior in the past thousands of years, but we didn't get to see enough of that transition for it to feel too right. Ah well, I'm so off topic. Guess I'm just bored, :P

Also don't forget starscream was running the space ridge operation so he knows about that to and he obviously built one because he used it last episode from a destroyed decepticon war ship

He knew about that stuff because he looked it up in the database. Remember, he said "thre procedure seems simple enough" or something like that, so he had an idea of what he wanted to do, and basically googled how to do it

Okay Okay ...WOW !! :PEACE: I did not expect my little opinion on how I feel about "Jackie" :BOT: would cause all this .It is kind of awesome though ,I do love reading different viewpoints . I guess I just don't really understand why they just did not make a "Prime" version of Drift ,if that is the direction they were going with the character .It just seems like they wanted to add a G1 inspired design to the cast . Most of my comments are really just for fun ,and I really do like Wheeljack :BOT: in Prime ,I even have his figure .It seems like all decisions are made "on the fly" .Take what they (Hasbro ,producers ) said on the Prime DVD bonus feature -They were first going to use Ironhide :BOT: in the series instead of Bulkhead ,but since he died in DOTM ,they changed it to Bulkhead :BOT: ,so that "kids" would not get confused .Plus they only used the name "Cliffjumper :BOT: " just to use an classic (not heard of for a while ) name .
The real BIG issue I have is Hasbro "trying " to connect all these "Very unrelated " series together (Prime ,WFC,and Exodus ) .It is as bad (or worse) as connecting the Unicron trilogy together (yes Armada and Energon fit together ,but not Cybertron ) .Just let the series stand by themselves ,it is a lot less confusion .
So too sum up ,I don't mind Wheeljack :BOT: (he is cool ) but is not a great homage to the show I grew up with .
But since I do love Transformers :BOT: :CON: I am always open to change

At BotCon 2011, I asked about why Wheeljacks seems Drift-like at the TF: Prime panel, and the guys on stage said that they were wanting to create a warrior-like character and asked Hasbro who it should be. Hasbro's answer: Wheeljack. They made Wheeljack be the warrior because Hasbro told them to.

michael alex kawa wrote:It seems like all decisions are made "on the fly" .Take what they (Hasbro ,producers ) said on the Prime DVD bonus feature -They were first going to use Ironhide :BOT: in the series instead of Bulkhead ,but since he died in DOTM ,they changed it to Bulkhead :BOT: ,so that "kids" would not get confused .
Derrick Wyatt also commented on this prior to DOTM's release. He said in a podcast that, when he was briefly brought in early into the design process of Prime, Bulkhead was going to be Ironhide like you say, but as they began to flesh out his character more, they realized that they were basically making a new Bulkhead-type character rather than an Ironhide-type. So, they decided to simply switch him to being Bulkhead instead of redoing the character from the ground up. :-B

michael alex kawa wrote:The real BIG issue I have is Hasbro "trying " to connect all these "Very unrelated " series together (Prime ,WFC,and Exodus ) .
Thing is, all of these individual series are indeed adapted from the same continuity production bible. It's just that Hasbro's giving each creative team so much leeway that it's making it harder for fans to put the pieces together. And Hasbro simply doesn't care.

michael alex kawa wrote:It is as bad (or worse) as connecting the Unicron trilogy together (yes Armada and Energon fit together ,but not Cybertron ) .Just let the series stand by themselves ,it is a lot less confusion .
Cybertron was intended to be a sequel, but Takara apparently didn't get the memo (or just outright ignored it) and tried to make it a reboot. But after Hasbro attempted to retcon it back in with Armada and Energon, Takara turned around and did the exact same thing with Galaxy Force. Many discrepencies were given explanations and corrections in the Fun Publications comic and story fiction for Cybertron, and even the show itself was not above making callbacks to Armada and Energon in its animation (Unicron's Armada body debris floating in space, Alexis appearing in her Energon design, Armada Mini-Cons showing up on Gigantion cave murals, etc.).

Mindmaster wrote:I really hope Ironhide will make an appearance in the show. I don't care if he ends up as a generic Transformer model, he needs to make an appearance!
I wonder where Ironhide's been all this time and what he's been up to.
