Kenner Aliens/Predator Action figure discussion

Postby Duke of Luns » Thu Jun 07, 2007 9:40 pm

Earlier this year my brother, in a bit of nastalgia, won a cheap E-Bay auction for a lot of He-Man figures.. Well, he recently decided he doesn't have the room for the figures, and gave them to me for storage/sale in a yard sale if I want to. I might hang on too 'em, even though I dont' have much a nastalgia for them, but I can see generally why they were cool.

Anyway, in this lot he got this guy:

It's to scale with and certainly looks like a He-Man figure, but I'm 90% sure it's not(I checked he-man.org, not on there). Plus, it feels like it's made of slightly different plastic, and doesn't have a spring loaded waist. The back is marked "1982 Remco N.Y.".

So, any idea where this guy came from, or who he is? He's really cool though, and would work well as a generic lizard man.

*Edit* Rather than start a whole new thread, I modified this thread, since at this time, I still have no idea who the Predators I have are, and it sparked a bit of nastalgia in me.

I believe he's from Remco's Warlord series of figures based off of DC's comics.

I'm looking for some proof, so far I haven't found any.

But that's my hunch at the moment

***EDIT***

Well, my hunch was right and thanks to Traks we found who exactly he is.

He is a snake man from the Warlord action figure line.

Based off DC comics? So, what came first, the action figure or the comic?

Thanks a bunch though ;)^ . Now I have learned something, and knowledge is POWER! Or something like that....

Ah, and it even says on a box of another one that it plays with Masters of the Universe, so no wonder I thought it looked like a He-Man figure, cause it is essentially a generic figurre made to scale with MOTU, cashing in on MOTU success. They don't do that much anymore do they?

The creature guys look pretty cool, but I don't really like the humans. They look a bit bland, and one of them is Hercules?

Thanks again for identifying that Snake Man. Also in the lot was a Predator, and it sparked a bit of nastalgia inside me. I can't seem to locate any sites dedicated to the figures, so....

Image

Who might those fellows be? The blue one came in the lot, the green one I had since I was a kid. I don't have any boxes from my Predator though, and I don't think I ever knew his name. I got him cause he was green, and cause he had a staff. Staffs are cool.

I remember I loved the Alien toy line when I was a kid, and an old friend and I got a lot of the figures. So, in the spirit of nastalgia, I took a pic of my Aliens/Predator collection:

Image

Anyone wanna discuss how cool the line was? I'll probably go out and rent A vs. P this week.

the vehicles are the hovertread and the stinger xt-37, far as the others go, from the back, theres the snake alien, two flying queen aliens, a queen, the mantis alien and a warrior drone, not too sure on the predators, are they kenner as well ? would love a full set of these guys, had loads as a kid ( without ever having seen alien i might add ) but only got one o r two left now.

Well, I actually knew who the Aliens were. Sorry I didn't make that clear. But I didn't know the vehicles names. And did you notice that the gun on the Stinger is wrong? The original gun got lost when I was a kid, and I don't remember where it went. So, since the a tab was broken off of it anyway, I "borrowed" one of the side guns from G.I. Joe's Battle Bunker.

And it's not a Warrior Drone, it's the Scropian Alien. The tails gone, but it's very close to a warrior alien. You forgot to identify Bishop, Ripley, and Hicks though :P . J/K. :PEACE:

Yeah, the Predators were Kenner too. I think they had their fair share of figures too. My friend had a couple, and I actually DO remember he had one called "Cracked Tusk", which had two big long tusks coming from his mouth, one of them cracked and broken off. He also had this extremely cool two-pack of Alien vs. Predator which had a black warrior alien, and a cool generic Predator with a gun and spear. I also recall he had pretty much most of the other Aliens and figures I didn't(Apone, Gorrilla Alien, Drake, ATAX, Bull, Rhino, the Power Loader, the ship), and I traded him for the Scorpian Alien that I have. It's amazing I remember all this, but then again, I absolutely loved the figures, and I hadn't really seen the movies as a kid either.

Looking over the figures the past couple of days, I can see that they really have excellent sculpts. The detail is really cool, but, like most figures in the early 90's, posability was extremely lacking. And this was also before the era of "pre-posed figures" that Marvel and DC(and probably other lines) had, where even though posability was lacking, they were in a cool pose. So therefore, the Aliens are kinda boring to look at in some respects.

Still, what made the line great was taking the general Alien look and designing it around an animal. Really went beyond the movies in that respect, and made for a really fun and diverse action figure line. I do wish I had picked up a couple more Predators though.

i used to have almost every alien in that line...think i was just missing the queen, rhino, queen face hugger andsomething else.

my panther's parasite ended up buried somewhere,
my mantis alien ended up lost in some tree's
the rest either broke ( scorpion alien ) or got sold in some sales of work probably (or they are in the loft)

Man I had sooo many of the Alien figures. Gorilla, Queen, Dog, Scorpion, Bull, Ripley, Apone, Hicks, Bishop and the other folks. I even had the Loader and the giant craft with the alien capture container on the back.

I only had a couple Predators though. I had the one in the top picture with the v shaped missle launcher and one that came in a 2-Pack with a movie accurate Alien. The Pedator was based on the one from the first movie.

But now I've gone adult with my collection of them and I own the Hot Toys 1/6th scale Predators....All of them. Well. Except for the Predator 2 figure which hasn't come out yet.

I have a queen, mantis, one that has spikes from its head, panther w/flying parasite and I sent in the points for the clear mail-in Predator. I got them as a kid and always picked them up if I had the cash.
They are great toys!
The panther alien is toy awesomeness with a great paint job.

Dude-

I'm getting a sence of deja vu hear. I just won a big lot of he-man figures off ebay not to long ago. That purple figure you have pictured there was included , plus a dionaousr with a gold sadle strampped on him for figures to ride on? Did I buy your figures or was it a conwenky dink? Buy the way did that dinoaur go with the purple figure?

Say anyone remember the wonderbread premium he-man and skeletor? I know there is a big debate as to were the he-man figure actually came from. Course most don't remember the skeletor and i thougbht i was loosing my mind. Till I game across a web page were a dude had both pictired in his collection. I remember seeing the add for ordereing the figures but don't remember myself what it was on. But I know it wasnt wonderbread. I remember thinking how ugly the figures were and how skeletor wasnt blue like he was suposed to be and why did he-man have brown hair. Also I remember it saying somewhere that those figures were a bit smaller than the original figures. I know to motu collectors the wonderbread premium figure or figures are a great mystery.

one other thing i came aross to casette transformers in another lot of he-man figures i purcahsed. I read somewhere online there worth 30 bucks a piece. I almost5 spit my soda out when i r ead that good lord.
