I henceforth declare that all KFC bashing be done in the form of chicken puns and allusions! Let the games begin! :P

Looking at his shape compared to classics cyclonus, theres a little too much meat on the bones for my taste...

It appears the support this tempest had in the start of this thread. Took a nose dive on the last few pages.

Perhaps it was... a recipe for disaster

Yeah, I'm not really interested in this guy either. The official Cyclonus just does it better.

People were saying this is pointless from the very beginning. Those who weren't, said "wait & see" knowing that they were already happy with the Classics version.

Well, the support from the beginning assumed it was scaled to voyager size, right? I'd still be down for a voyager sized Cyclonus, honestly. But, since it's deluxe size, and the current deluxe is actually quite good ... well ...

For me, it's just so... pointless. Universe Cyclonus hits the perfect trio of having a great robot mode, a great transformation and a great alt mode. As pointed out, aside from his left hand not having a hole for Nightstick, he's pretty much spot-on awesome.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

If this had been a couple inches taller, I would have paid for it. I think he should at least look eye-to-eye with Maniaking. I love the jet mode, much better than the crappy Hasbro jet.

The Targetmaster is amazing though, lots of articulation. I think that mold should be sold in a variety of recolors as updated versions of the Targetmasters.

I kind of like it, perhaps I even prefer it, but it is far from perfect.

I agree it is not quite tall enough. If you are going to go bigger than the HasTak version, then make it more than negligibly bigger.

What's with the blue? Not loving the recent trend of wrong-colors-first then show accurate colors later.

And, I have a perfectly serviceable version of the character. Personally I don't mind when 3Ps redo characters Hasbro already released, but they need to be significantly better to warrant the purchase. This does not warrant 3P prices IMO.

Yup know when you have figures like stack being made a bit too big, tempest close to cyclonus in size and a giant hexatron it makes you wonder.
with the financial investment these 3rd parties are taking it wouldn't have hurt them to simply post a poll on what people might bite on. not bashing the figures just an observation >:oP

Alas, with my somewhat finicky pallet, my choices are limited. I don't care for seafood at all, so fish and shrimp are out. I don't like lettuce, pickles, or mayo; so if I ordered a Po Boy it would basically just be chicken tenders on a roll. And while I'm sure the roll would be good, at that point I may as well just get tenders and a delicious biscuit. (Or two.) And, of course, some sweet tea. (Just because I can make it myself for home use, doesn't mean I still won't drink theirs while eating at their establishment!)

Every Sunday, eh? I envy that. My girlfriend and I already have plans for dinner that night (making homemade calzones!) or I might have suggested we stop there. We have a group of friends we get together with most Sundays whose place the localish Popeyes is not too far a detour from, and she usually doesn't need convincing to go there, anyway. She'd likely not think twice about killing a man if it got her a Popeyes biscuit. (I exaggerate... slightly...) I suppose we could try and plan on a trip in the near future, though.

*cough*

Oh yes. KFC Tempest. I watched Peaugh's review, and much like I was expecting I wasn't too impressed. Even if I wasn't biased against figures that are covering territory Hasbro'd already done, I think I'd think the official toy was the winner here. I will grant that the KFC targetmaster is much better, and if it was available separately for something cheep like $10.00 or less, I might have considered it as an add-on to the official Cyclonus. But other then that, I shall stick with what I have, thank you.

(There! Officially not completely off topic! )

Fans voting polls rarely work as their is too much cheating, Domination and trolling going on. *Cough* , Erector, *Cough*.

Recently, KFC did that Citizen Stacks poll. Find it hard to believe most voted and wanted the robot mode to be Thirteen inches tall. On all the forums I visted Most wanted the toy to be Ultra or Leader scale at the Biggest, not Supremne scaled . Suspect a OCD person or tiny Group cheated in the polls by voting in the OCD excessive amounts. Which resulted in Keith thinking all those votes came from hundreds of fans. Instead of the cold reality that it came from One or a tiny group of fans.

So youre saying one crazed fan got hold of 200 or more computers with different IP addresses to rig a vote ? Unless ultra magnuses biggest fan works for a computer company, I highly doubt it. The death of citizen stack was due to MP-22. BBTS probably has stacks of them. No pun intended. Maybe they can dunk them in dye and make some kind of crazy colored exclusive to help unload them.

The poll was done on TFW2005 too, so it would need to be fixed by someone who went out and made up a bunch of fake memberships on that board. I really doubt anyone would do that.

Here is the poll:

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transform ... agnus.html

The toy was always intended to scale with Masterpiece toys. The question on the poll was to whether make it the same size as MP10 Optimus Prime in truck mode (and have big robot), or the same height as as MP10 Optimus Prime as a robot (and have a tiny truck).

Same size truck mode won, so the robot mode had to be HUGE.

Thought it was a Facebook poll. Maybe it was a TFW and FB poll.

You make it sound like it's so hard and all fans are angels when it comes to not cheating on polls.

Need I once again remind you of the Botcon HOF poll voting. When some fans where litterally jumping from board to board and creating numberous accounts to get Erecter to win the polls. Hasbro had to step in and disqualify all of the Erecter votes at the Botcon convention that year.

From KFC's perspective, Citizen Stacks was a success as it sold out. as Keith unloaded & sold them all to imports sites. It's now the imports sites job and risk to sell citizen stacks to buyers.

KFC has the MP UM market for another Six plus months,Until Takara releases their version. This is plenty of time for KFC to uload all the Citizen stacks repaints and retools to import sites and deem this a success.

id be curious to see how this thing is selling. aside from being chunky and strangely colored, he looks plain. theres much more they could have painted on him. not that it would have saved tempest, but it would have helped. he has a proper gun, and a kickass target master. jet mode is pretty nice.

but that flat bland robot mode. if he were on clearance, or given a nicer repaint i might buy. i liked mania king, but didnt buy it cause he just wasnt right in some way. thanks to that i now have the vintage color (or whatever its called) mania king on the way. patience paid off, and i think it will here too.

This is exactly why KAPOW is cutting down on 3rd Party products...

I think Tempest is too G1-esque to actually display with Classics; that's the problem, IMHO. His jet mode is spot on, and Nightstick looks fantastic, but they really should have updated the robot mode - curvier lines, slimmer profile, a new head sculpt, perhaps - if they wanted him to actually compete with Henkei/Universe/RTS Cyclonus. Just look at the comparison shot between Tempest & Mania King. Tempest just seems... out of date. Much like Impossible Toys' products.

I'm also thinking of making the plunge on the vintage color Mania King. Between the color adjustment (which makes him look TONS better) and that LED, I think I can overlook my issues with it (monkey arms, no wrists, exaggerated crest, etc.).

totally understand. ive harped on the same subject many times, how classics/generations are a modern re-imagining of G1 as opposed to perfect representations (thats what MP's are for).

and its because of that that my mania king will probably not sit with my other classics. he'll be in a league of his own. i like the character (and new paint apps) enough to buy a stand alone figure, and asia specialists galvatron will sit on my classics shelf.

thinking about it further though (i waffle a lot lol) even with a better paint job i wont have any need for tempest. since i only like the jet mode and target master, i keep 99% of my figures in bot mode. so yeah. maybe 1/2 off just for the target master.
