I've seen this number thrown around a couple times and I hope it comes to be as I think I could swing for both at this price, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, to be honest I can't even remember where I first heard that quote, but it's been circulating for a while now. I believe they are also supposed to be releasing these in two packs for about 100 a set.

I think it was stated at the Con in Canada, although I thought they said Approx. $130 per set. Although, IIRC, I think they said only the G2 Yellow would be in the 2 pack variety with G1 Green as a full set with less accessories/

I've seen $136 per 2-pack and $410 for the box set, I've seen talk of $300-350 for the box set, and I've also seen 30,000-40,000 yen. In other words, I've seen all kinds of numbers thrown around, but until we actually see a pre-order and what the mark-up heavy retailers to do with it, it's all just speculation as far as I'm concerned.

The problems with HL are isolated to the ratchet joints stripping away almost immidiately. If you check their Fackbook page it's on there quite a lot at the moment.

A post on their Facebook page says they are taking requests for replacement parts (to ship late next month), so there's that if it helps.

Hope the rumor of the G1 version having less accessories is just that: a rumor. I am not interested at all in the yellow CAT colors for G2.

If the Crossfire figs were about $50 a pop (at least on BBTS), hopefully this will be within the same price range ($100 for a 2 pack?), specially considering the Hercules deal is a complete budget breaker.

I feel like long haul really got messed with too much in both 3rd party devys.posting.php?mode=reply&f=215&t=82067# None of the constructicons were really short and squat.

Both versions of not-Devy are great both companies are gonna have something that the other one missed or didn't touch on so well. They both are great you cant go wrong yes TFC's is more accurate in the sense of size if your going by the cartoon, but maketoy's is more fitting if you wanna have one that's gonna go along with the Bruticus or Superion scale that most of us own courtesy of Fansproject, either way to buy one or the other or to buy both u won't go wrong. So a standing ovation to both companies for putting out what hasbro is bullcraping on putting out.

They look too small to me in both modes. How many times have you seen a dump truck or any of the alt modes used to make Giant the same size as a car driving down the road? Hercules is actually a lot more accuarate in terms of scale in my opinion. People have complained about quality on Hercules but mine have been fine. In Robot mode, they stand just a litte over the deluxe sized it is true but not much. To be fair, if it were a reality with no mass shifting, the Constructicons would have been larger than most of the Decepticons.

Incorporating the combiner parts as trailors just looks wrong to me (as it did on G1 Devy). Also, Giant makes no attempt to hide the combiner head attached to Hook, its sitting out right next to the cab. His own head can clearly be seen at the back too. I haven't seen many cranes with a large robot head attached to it.

Giant:

Hercules:

Longhaul looks too Movieverse for my liking but could be good for a kitbash into the Fallen. At first glance my first thought was Stockade:

Image

So, yeah, I'm not regretting going with Hercules as my 3rd Party Devestator. If the cost of Giant isn't too high, I might consider getting one to repaint ala Shattered Glass though.

You're not the only one

I only collect Classic-verse fig and try to make up the scale as good as i can. And no, a combiner that can be slap in the face by a voyager class bot just aren't enough.

The bot mode....looks a bit weird to me personally. Still, to each their own.Btw, complaining bout the QC issue of TFC (ones that had been released)...how sure are u that Maketoys won't have any?

Also, how can people say they like Giant due to their G1-like design and but also like the not-Long Haul cause it's great update?

I think this is scaled to the combiners previously released in the classics style, not to deluxe and voyager figures. Hercules is to small to be scaled with them as well. From what I've read, Hercules will only be 2-3 inches taller than Giant anyway.

After looking again at the SG fiction, I believe MakeToys Giant would be the perfect molds to be changed into the SG Constructicons. I need to brush up on my white painting to get that crisp look but hopefully they will look like this when done:

Image

There is currently no picture of SG Bonecrusher and only a head shot of Long Haul which is why they are not included.

I like how the bots in the two universes can have different bodies so that works to the advantage here too. Oh, my wallet just cried out in pain.

I was really on the fence as to which set to go with.

Up until these pictures, I was almost certainly going to get Giant.

I nerded up the place by doing a scoring chart for the toys and the TFC version came out on top over all. So, I bought Exgraver and Heavy Labor tonight.

Both are great figures, but if I were you I wouldn't even bother moving Heavy Labor's hip ratchets until A) you open him up and do some custom repairs to the ratchet tabs or B) wait for TFC to make an official announcement on how they plan on handling this situation. At the moment they are just asking customers who have had trouble to email them for replacement parts that will ship in December. At least that's what customers who have gotten their replies are reporting. I assume the long wait time is to allow them time to redesign the joint, otherwise they would just be sending out more flawed parts that would fail after installation. Luckily you don't have to use that joint for transformation.

I've had no problems with hip tabs. :???:

But on the subject at hand, it's nice, but I already have a third of TFC's Devastator and a third on pre-order. I'll be passing on this guy.

Course, the bigger question is what to do with the 'official' Classics Devastator now.

I agree with your conclusion, but would be curious to hear a summary of your scoring chart. Or save it for the next podcast...

RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:I've had no problems with hip tabs. :???:

I'm sure yours has the same issue. It may not have made itself apparent yet, but it will ultimately affect all made with the original parts. But the 'hip tabs' aren't actually the issue at hand. It's the joints that move the legs forward and back...and as El Duque mentioned, avoid doing so until you take measures to correct the issue.

The problem is in the hip ratchet that allows for forward and backward movement of Heavy Labor's legs. The ratchet joint is composed of two pieces, a cog and a tension tab. The tension tab engages the the teeth on the cog to provide the ratcheting effect. If it were working properly as you move the leg the teeth on the cog would push against the tab, which would in turn flex allowing the tooth to pass. However the tension tab was not designed properly and does not flex at all. Since you can apply a lot of pressure using the leg for leverage you can force the tooth pass the tab, but something has to give. The result is the teeth being stripped of the cog. This is particularly problematic, because Heavy Labor's hip joints become Hercules' hip joints, which need those ratchets to hold the weight of the the three Voyager size figures that comprise Hercules' upper body. There are some fixes out there, but at the moment TFC hasn't made an official statement. Check this topic on TFW out for images and proposed fixes:

Thanks, but according to the first post there TFC is sending out replacement parts in December. And I don't plan on really moving the hip joints. And if I tried anything I'd probably break him and/or myself. ;)
