I remember Chris Evans talking about the positive of Cap's mask/helmet showing so much of his face they could leave it on and you could still see the performance.

But yeah, we need to see the mask.

Loki Season 2 - Episode 1-6

Glorious Purpose

This is not only the best of the TV shows. But probably the best MCU project overall. Season One wasn't bad, by any means. But it did take a little while to build momentum and find it's feet. Season Two is almost flawless. Writing, characterisation and execution. Episodes five and six, which I watched back to back over the weekend, were simply outstanding. This is how to do (and achieve) a lot with a minimal cast. To discuss either in a meaningful way, be that spoilers etc would literally ruin someone else's experience. Which I would never do. Watch it all and enjoy 10/10

Since Marvel/Disney seem to have forgotten about cartoons for the time being. I like to think of this as the Timmverse of another timeline...

Oddly, Wolverine seems the odd one out amongst the group...which is fitting as he was created sometime after (i think it's the juxtaposition of his 80s outfit compared to the original X men suits)

Timm definitely has a legacy theme to using these designs. Much like his 70's Storm design here:

He did so much for DC in general. I would have been keen to see him apply that same love to Marvel. Not just the limited scope and cast of the MCU. But the actual Marvel universe.

Given that Timm started with Batman because of his popularity at the time, I wonder who would have a marvel equivalent starting point? Spider-Man or X Men (I think they were 2 of Marvels heaviest hitters at the time)

Reluctantly, I'd say Spider-Man. Although I think Timm's efforts would have been wasted on the Wallcrawler. But he would shine with the X-Men. Or even Fantastic Four.

As a Marvel fan from before 2008, I would also add that Spider-Man and the X-Men are still the heaviest hitters/A-List of Marvel Comics.
X-Men 1 was the fourth highest grossing film of all time, upon it's release in 2000. Spider-Man 1 achieved even greater acclaim, in 2002. They didn't need Disney money and phases of films to do so.

Fantastic Four is/has always been a gateway to so many more characters also. Black Panther, the Inhumans, the Skrulls, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Annihilus, Blastaar etc The scope of an FF show would have matched Justice League Unlimited with it's ensemble cast.

Really the FF should have been the cornerstone of the MCU. In the same parallel world as this Timm Marvel cartoon, Fox might have never had the film rights allowing the first family of Marvel to have been the first MCU film...thus setting Doctor Doom up

Agreed. Although in said parallel world, there likely wouldn't have been a MCU. Because, as with the success of Batman in '89 and Superman a decade prior. A shared universe isn't needed with the most popular characters.

Meanwhile, the most lucrative film rights were sold. That tells you all you need to know about the pecking order of Marvel at the time.

A lot of people crap on it, but I really liked The Incredible Hulk. Marvel should have kept Edward Norton as Banner. Yes, I have read about him being difficult on set.

Anyway, although I had completely forgotten that, at time of writing, Season Two of What If? was released (in it's entirety) in December. Here's a teaser trailer for the upcoming Season Three:

X-Men '97's Disney+ Release Window Revealed

Image

Sources have indicated to trusted scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus that Marvel Studios has set a spring release window for X-Men '97. The 10-episode season will reportedly premiere on Disney+ in mid to late March 2024. X-Men '97, first announced by Marvel Studios in November 2021, will be a continuation of the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran on Fox Kids Network for five seasons and 76 episodes between October 1992 and September 1997.
X-Men '97 is confirmed to be set several months after the series finale of X-Men: The Animated Series, "Graduation Day," with Mister Sinister set as the show's primary antagonist. While plot details are being kept largely under wraps, it has been confirmed that Magneto will be joining the titular team in Professor X's absence and that the attempt on Charles Xavier's life in the original series finale has "led to this wave of increased sympathy towards mutants and understanding."
Several voice actors from X-Men: The Animated Series are confirmed to be returning for X-Men '97 including Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Lenore Zann as Rogue, Christopher Britton as Mister Sinister and George Buza as Beast. Ahead of the show's premiere, Marvel announced that a second season had been ordered. Zann recently teased X-Men '97 Season 2 back in December, writing on the social media platform X that she was "back in the studio continuing to record Season 2 of X-Men 97 for [Marvel Studios] - this time in Burbank. Grateful to be back and I jes' know y'all are gonna love our new show as much as I do." Prior to this, Zann teased that fans are in for "a wild ride" with X-Men '97.

A couple of notes:

This is now confirmed as a CG animated series. People bemoaning online, seem to forget that: (A)This is a revival for a 27 year old show. (B) When was the last time you saw hand animation from Disney?? The visual designs also seem to replicate Season Five. For those that think Rogue looks a little "flat", from how they remember her.

1. - That means Season Five narrative matters. For those that tried to blank it out

2. That also means, much like Beast Wars' The Agenda pt.3. we are not getting the payoff to the cliffhanger - The Human-Mutant War, in this instance. Sigh

Unknown at present. Considering by colour scheme alone, Reed (all blue) and Sue (white neck) are sporting different era FF costumes.

Not really familiar with Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn, but Ebon Moss-Bachrach is a great choice for The Thing.

I have mixed feelings about Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic. I'm having a hard time picturing him in the role, but that may just be because I usually think of him as stoic characters after The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, but he has shown quite a bit of range in some of his other roles (Game of Thrones, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, etc.). Very curious to see how he does.

Hopefully the fifth time is the charm. When it comes to a successful onscreen adaptation of Marvel's first family.

The last one was pretty dire. Personally, I'm not familiar with any of the actors announced. I haven't seen any of the recent series that Pedro Pascal is cited as starring in. So I'm looking forward to going in blind.
