New Cartoon screen shot? (rumor)

Fast on the heels of our reporting on a news article about the new cartoon, two new items have come up that are interesting...

The first is an article much like the one we featured yesterday that adds just a little more description about the cartoon premise:

"Little is known about the new series except for the fact that it will take place in a future era during which humans and robots both inhabit the Earth. Optimus Prime (supposedly now a fire truck) and Megatron will be featured in the new series, which reportedly features a brand new look for the long-lived Transformers characters."

(The whole article can be found here.)

But the most controversial NEW information may be the new screenshot that has shown up. It's hard to make out the characters, but you can feel free to discuss and speculate.

Take a look at the five unclear characters here!

Please stay tuned to Seibertron.com as we bring you more updates about the new cartoon, movie, and toys, as they become available!

Looks like maybe some shots from the opening sequence? If I remember correctly they are going for a Clone Warsesque style for this show. While that is very different from anything Transformers has done previously, I applaud the entry of a fresh style (and it certainly stands a chance to beat what has been coming out of Japan for the past 5 years)

That's just plain stoopid.
As long as the toys are good and to my liking, I couldn't give a screw about the cartoon anymore.

Here's who I believe is represented in the five different blocks, from left to right.

Image

Block 1 - Optimus Prime
Block 2 - Thunderwing or Sixshot
Block 3 - Bumblebee
Block 4 - Repugnus
Block 5 - Scourge

Primus knows I'm wrong on one or more of these. Speculation is fun, though!

It looks like they're using the same animators as The Teen Titans or something similar.

Well, #1 is almost definately Prime. 3 look like it's probably Bumblebee. 4 looks like a big jawed hulk, so I'll say Demolisher-type character. As for 2 and 5? Either could be Jetfire, Starscream, or even Megatron.

While it is a refreshing change from the anime crap we've been getting ever since RiD, and it does have the talent from G1 and BW working on it, I can't say I'm terribly excited. Especially if the toys are done in the same style as the toon.

Those shots remind me of Batman the Animated series and JLA. Which I like, because as far as I'm concerned, those are some of the best animated and well written cartoons ever. And if Bruce Timm has anything to do with it (which I have no idea if he does), I would be even happier.

No amount of aspirins can save you from the might of the virtual boy. It'd melt your eyes as soon as let you play super mario on it.

Bleh. If this has the same look as those Clone Wars shorts, I may not even bother. I hated that animation style. D:<

You can clearly see the Teen Titan/Batman influence in these shots. Hopefully none of these bots have the barrel chest, stick legs style that some of the bigger animated characters do in these series. Otherwise we'll have a bunch of toys that'll be top heavy flopping all over the place.

I am up for anything at this point, the latest Transformers cartoons havent done it for me. The Beast Wars was pretty cool for the time. If its going to be like Teen titans it will be even more simplified than the original g1 series. I just hope the writting is better than energon or armada. Thats what made the Justice league so cool the show was very well written. If they get the characters right I'm sure we will enjoy the show, no matter how simple the designs are.

I doubt the toys will follow the visual cues of the animation models so much as vice versa. They'll be cut down and simplified for ease of animation, but I imagine they'll still have the 'small thighs, giant shins' look of most TFs.

Not much to see here, but it does hint at the way the animation is likely to turn out. It is indeed rather Titans-esque, and if it gets a similar animation budget and the writing nails the appropriate amount of action, drama and lightness, we could be looking forward to 26 episodes (and one feature-length TV special) of solid grooviness.

Thanks for getting the pics posted/mirrored in the thread Thanos. I do agree, the third is pretty much unmistakably Bumblebee (or Cliffjumper, Bumblejumper, or Bugbite).

I think you are right. The fourth looks animal-esque, could be a pretender animal. It's not a lot to go on, but at least it is something.

Do they automatically halt it and just throw out the cartoon line really fast?
