Silverstreak: Looks good. A redeco and a slight retool he may be, but so was the original, and so far, the eldest and hardcore of fans use that as their measuring stick for toys. I could pick up both Prowl and him.

Sideswipe: I can only hope that photo was the incorect one. If they were going to retool the head and engines, then I'd be interested. Otherwise, it's just a red Sunstreaker.

Ironhide: Both modes are just ok for me. Nothing too special. I just hope that if a Ratchet retool was made, that it looks a bit mor einteresting.

Silverbolt: Wearing your alternate mode? Pfft.

This is the first time I'm excited for an Ironhide figure.

All of them look sweet...
It does look like there are holes on the shoulders of Sideswipe.
I'd assume he'll get those weapons...
Hopefully.

Check the link on the front page, it should take you to a gallery with the new Universe figres. On the last page there is a pic of Ratbat (Cyb Sideways) and Springer (Cyb Evac).

There is also another repaint of last year's Springer Exclusive, but I don't know who that is supposed to be.

It won't, and I actually appreciate fans who can criticise despite others' expectations. (I just wish others felt the same way about my criticism.) I see what you mean about Ironhide, but even a pessimist like me is willing to bet that all the bits and pieces aren't pressed together properly. Hey, it wouldn't be the first time Hasbro has mistransformed its products. And once you see Hound and Cyclonus, I'm sure your fears about repaints will vanish. :)

I like the new Universe (classics) figures shown here quite a bit. I hope they change Sideswipe's "ears", but I can live with them like that. I don't know why, but he looks a lot better to me than Sunstreaker. Maybe it's just the colour because they're pretty close.

I was kind of let down with the last pics we seen of universe. Especially Galvatron. He's one of my favourite characters and I was hoping for something on par with Energon Galvatron (at least big). I don't hate the figure and will get it, but he oculd have been more. I didn't really care much for Powerglide or Blaster being a straight Soundwave repaint. Overall the last set of pics felt to me a little uninspired. This set of pics looks a little more inspired. Ironhide and Silverbolt look pretty cool to me.

I'm a bit more mixed on the current Classics/Universe stuff that I was about Classics 1.0. Some figures I'm definitely going to get. (Especially the G1 Optimus, because although I've still got the G2 Optimus [mostly] I'd really like to have a complete G1 Optimus, even if I end up keeping it MISB, like I would Star Convoy if I buy the sealed carton from Action HQ.) Sunstreaker and Side Swipe I can get...looking forward to Galvatron, Tankor and Targetmaster Cyclonus... Most others the jury's still out on whether or not I'd actually buy or pass. I'll only know when I actually see them...

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

WOW IRONHIDE!

This is probably the biggest Transformers moment of the last 25 years!

Someone has probably asked this already, but will Silverbolt be able to combine with future Aerialbots perhaps?

I really like Silverbolt's design. The coloring and mold are pretty cool. I like how they have tried to make jet intakes under the fuselage. I hate it when lots of parts are hanging under a plane's fuselage or wings. He'll be really big though.

I'm glad Ironhide is getting some deserved love. Sideswipe definitely needs a retooled head though.

Hmm Silverbolt is good. Silverstreak is good. 25th Prime and Sideswipe(though Im praying he'll have a retooled head on final release) are great. But as for Ironhide...I can't get over the fact that his vehicle mode is so ugly. Robot mode is decent though.

That's a very apt way of summing up what's wrong with Silverbolt. I was disappointed yesterday, when I saw all the endless repaints, but some of this new stuff they've just shown and announced is alright.

I've certainly bought much worse than that Ironhide in the past. I don't like him being an SUV, but using the rear window for the chest is kinda clever, and maybe the panel cracks won't look so prominent in better lighting.

My main bone of contention is that they're still not moving forward with new combiner gestalts. What they're doing with all the repaints does bother me, I mean I'd been hoping for a decent Springer redo rather than yet another repaint. I know people say repaints help justify the expense, but the whole line is starting to feel very watered down.

Though it's a pleasant surprise to see that the legends line isn't going to be all repaints after all.

Wonder if we'll see Silverbolt repainted as Whisper?

Hasbro's been really big on the Micromaster homages lately (WMX Movie Big Daddy & Grindcore, Movie Mudflap, Universe Heavyload, Universe Stormcloud, the Universe repaint of Scattorshot, etc.)
Check out my books, Titanomachies and Divine Retribution, on my blog!

Yeah, I'd been thinking about that toon-accurate retooled headsculpt. What's that on, Ipod Convoy or something?

In a way that'd be nice to have, but I almost think I prefer the original. I guess they might as well go for it. I already have G2 Prime, and my original junked G1 figure.

I wish every time I step foot into an Animated thread I wouldn’t feel like there’s a barrage of riflemen aiming their guns at me… yeah I agree.

And I at least am fine with your criticism, its just when you start calling people “idiot” and so on fourth it becomes name calling rather than criticizing.

I'm sorry everyone, I just can't get excited about this stuff anymore. I know my negative comments will just get lost in the sea of fans' "zomg G1 stuff again this ownz!," but I'm really disappointed in the direction this franchise is taking. If it weren't for TF Animated and my Beast Wars DVDs, I probably would have completely abandonned this franchise by now.

While I respect your opinion Skowl, I am curious what direction exactly would you have liked Universe to take?
We all new where they were headed, and what there point was going to be. Still Universe is still a secondary line to Animated. Animated is supposed to be the main one.

And I find your points valid. I agree with them Silverbolt is a really cheap design. Ironhide's design I like, but I agree his alt mode looks like its been pieced together a bit too much.
Probably mistransformed but you never know.

As for Repaints well this is Universe its going to have repaints.
some are good some are bad. But we are getting very cool new molds in the mix also. I just don't see repaints as a problems, its a way for Hasbro to make money off of their molds, and I know I don't have to buy them if I don't like them.

You know, one thing I didn't realize until now is that Ironhide's chest is actually the rear of the vehicle instead of the front. That's thinking outside the box, Hasbro. It reminds me of the intuition they demonstrated in reversing Grimlock's dinosaur parts in robot mode. :APPLAUSE:

On the subject, can car nuts identify which vehicle Ironhide transforms into?

And I was Gonna import MP whatever...

Wait sorry, it's just another G1 reissue, with some stand deal!?!

I like alot of the new classics molds, the fact that repaints are planned before the initial release is expected, but still depressing. Probably gonna pass on SideSwipe on principal alone.

Realy, would it have killed them to retool the head!
