Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a long history of wild crossovers with other nerdy properties. But according to the Jedi Temple Archives, the best one that could have happened never actually did. In the early 90s, when Hasbro/Kenner had let the Star Wars action figure license lapse. So Playmates made a pitch for the property, and even commissioned famed Ninja Turtles artist Michael Dooney to mock up some potential artwork for a line of TMNT / Star Wars crossover toys.

I never knew I needed a pizza lightsaber all this time.
These closeups with the call-out details make it even better. A nunchuck bowcaster! Sewer pipe lightsaber handles! A miniature Han Solo In Carbonite strapped to April Leia's belt! Various versions of Donatello strapped to the other Turtles' backs! This is the stuff of childhood dreams.

Two Dons? Surely Yoda should be Splinter. Also, no Han?

But I could actually see Hasbro doing this today. They already did the Ninja Turtles / Power Rangers crossover figures. Probably be a little harder since they don't own Star Wars like they own Power Rangers.

Oh well, if it gets the nickelodeon series released on blu ray with actually labelled discs (something they didn't bother with for our dvd version) then there is that, or the films in 4K would be something.

Picked up retro storage shell turtles at smyths today. They also had the single figures (triceraton, shredder, in disguise) so at least the film is getting toys back in toy stores

I was surprised to see those at Walmart, but I was beyond shocked to see the Pizza Tossin figures back in stores, I was sure they were panned hard back in the day.

Incidentally I've been reading the IGN comics for the first time (just about finished with the second collection), kinda in the mood for buying TMNT figures again...

I considered picking up the IDW series, upon several recommendations. But I'm really struggling for space right now.

Upon hearing about this upcoming crossover, I did have to go down a minor IDW lore rabbit hole. As I had no idea who the fifth, Yellow Turtle was.

I’ve been picking up the Retro figures for some time though various ones in the numerous runs they did. Shredder actually eluded me until this time so I think Playmates realized how popular OG Shredder still is and increased production.

They just released a new wave with Ghengis, Wingnut, Baxter Stockman, and Ratking. I didn’t see Ratking but I picked up Baxter and Ghengis.

Yeah, I've been picking up the reissues myself for all of the figures I don't already own from my childhood that I still have. Picked up Wingnut just this morning, it was the only figure at Walmart from the wave. It's a shame they decided to reissue the paint error version of Shredder over the "correct" version. It just looks dumb with the eyebrows painted on the front of his helmet. I still need a Foot Soldier, Baxter and Genghis to get the figures I need. Since most of these so far have been based on the box set releases I'm guessing Slash, Mutagen Man (hopefully with all of his parts), the Hero figures and the Toon figures will be released at some point. If we're lucky they'll do some additional figures like April, Casey Jones, Metalhead, Usagi Yojimbo, Traag and Ace Duck to wrap up '88 and '89.

Movie stuff of note to me:
2 versions of the proffesser from tmnt 2 and no doubt one makes for a easy, in the style of baxter repaint.
Sadly no tatsu yet despite him being rumored way back (but then I'd be wanting Cynthia rothrock to fight him. Okay.. I will always be wanting a Cynthia rothrock).

Toon/toys
Usagis are multiplying quicker rabbits? 5 if him know? Including spaaaace version. Seeing neca now start to do versions of the playmates toys gives me hope for tmnt 4 figures in live action style.
Day job interview Casey is a must.
Kraaang sized Kraaang, egads.

Universal monsters
Nice to see leo available as something other than the hunchback but think a punk frong might have Ben better as the creature and they are still kind of avoiding what the old toys did (Raph as wolfman instead of leo or even mikey in nickelodeons).
Just nice in general that the line is continuing.

Last ronin
I'm put off these just because Eastman (and idw). Casey looks good though he would be the the version I'd consider the least of getting for him (wasn't that keen on nickelodeons design, but hey its not last ronin) .
Footsoldier bot has a janky waist/crotch but still kinda tempting. Dunno when Splinter became so tall when he got older unless there is a super Splinter idea floating around.
I'll wait for another non ronin version of karai.

On a totally non tmnt neca side note...
Funny thing is if disney doess a gargoyles movie will they not release it in the UK or will neca finally be able to release their toys here.

I really need to start buying those Archie's figures, they were some of my favorite stories as a kid. I hope they do Shredder with an alternat Krang as his head an all black Raph.

I opted to end my Shredders with the Movie ..5 (Red TMNT 1, Purple TMNT 2 and three Super Shredder redecos). Although animated Shredder wouldn't be too expensive. The reason for my reluctance being the Mirage Shredder variants. Because of how Neca chose to distribute them, they are cost prohibitive.

However, on impulse I did preorder these guys*:

*and Yes, I am aware even they have variants now:

^ Note the third, "Claw" Shredder. Is a Loot Box exclusive. So I have zero interest in getting the default for that one.

*really hope they choose better distribution and make some of the figures more available though. At least a mirage shredder is now semi obtainable, not found my April yet to see if the scale is out of whack.

I have Android Krang with Shredder JR. Which means I will have to also pick up the Super7 rendition of the Android Krang figure, whenever that appears.

This is why I want an Archie Comics Shredder. Who knows, maybe that Krang already has a neck peg port under it.

And no, they didn't decapitate Shredder (though Bellybomb was prepared to) Krang just squished his way around his head.

Yeah, I'm OK with that, I liked the wrestling arc in the comic. Doesn't look like their ruling out anything in the future. Well, aside from Rocksteady and Beebop's naturist phase.

I found my previous wishlist so I get to cross a few things off now. Now I want a wrestler Leatherhead to go with the Turtles and Wingnut and Screwloose to finish out the Mutanimals.

While I do like how stylised the Archie Turtles are (Neca once again knocking it out of the park with those likenesses), I just don't have any affinity to them. So no desire to collect them.

I do like that they way they're sculpted and the way the comics were drawn by different artists they basically blend with the cartoon line which also means the cartoon Turtles can probably sub well enough for Archie Turtles.

I don't think I've mentioned these yet, but how cool are these?

For those unaware these are all based on vintage figures and they look really neat fully articulated like this. They cheated a bit with Leo since Don was the cowboy in the original line. I wouldn't mind them using these molds and putting vintage heads on them. Definitely going to be some customs out there. Best part is it's only $30 for the set! The whole Mayhem line is pretty affordable, Playmates is really doing the Turtles right.

Really don't like those designs for the turtles, S7 did ultimates Raph in spacesuit or even reaction based of the orig figure. nickelodeon figures had space suit, even heroclix and 200x (though the heroclix looks the best) but those spacesuits were all partial suits which makes little sense.
neca has a Raph in space suit coming out based on orig figure. Nice idea for the walmart set and probably a cheap way of getting all four, but it's mutton dressed like lamb or whatever the saying is (terrapins dressed like turtles?)

Neca mirage baxter is the next must have for me. Best axns glow in the dark supershredder and most of their line is really good but once again, no releases in uk. Mutant mayhem may eventually have a design I like the look of to want it at some point.

It's funny that - looking it up - I tend to forget that Mirage (and '03) Baxter was in fact a Black guy originally and not a blonde haired Fly.

Baxter The Fly being one of my favourite designs. So I tend to not be as enthused seeing him as a regular guy.

I always remember original Baxter being black from Mirage (and April being white -even if hers and even Caseys hair might have looked originally a bit, well stylised).

Cartoon Bebops the confusing one for me, with his original cartoon based mutating toy being a white guy and also in the toon comics adaption of the first three episodes (if iirc) yet he was black in the original cartoon and most other media he has been in.

And good old mirage ratking just being 'monster' which funnily enough super7s ultimate ratking looked really like, got criticised online for not looking like the original playmates figure that Ultimates were (now past tense) based on. That the wave he was in and removed from is mirage based might be why it was a decent 'monster' figure.
