Just wanted to let you all (but mostly Canadians and hockey fans) know that my little town, North Bay Ontario, has been named Hockeyville 2007 in the CBC contest! (In your face Cornwall

This means we get $50000 to fix our arena, $10000 for a local hockey team, and a pre-season NHL game! The city will probably use the $10000 to help buy the Mississauga Ice Dogs, and we'll finally have an OHL team again! (we lost our last team to Saginaw, though it is fun to see Stephen Colbert cheer on our old Centennials).
I am super stoked, the game's going to be between the Atlanta Thrashers and the New York Islanders. Some people were disappointed that we wouldn't get 2 Canadian teams, but I say to hell with it, I can see the Senators or the Leafs whenever, it's not too often the Thrashers or the Islanders come up here, let alone to North Bay!
