Question about DOTM voyager Ironhide
Is it me or is the DOTM Voyager Ironhide too small? I know scale has never been a strong point of hasbro but I picked up the DOTM Voyager Ratchet and he's way bigger! I don't know what to do now, I was trying to get just the movie autobots as close to scale as I could

I don't know for sure. he seems about the same as the 07 movie size wise. And Ratchet is a Hummer on steroids. I'd think Ratchet should only be outsized by Prime and Sentinel.

Technically, all of the DOTM figures are smaller than their counterparts from previous lines.
Why? Because of the Mechtech Weapons. To keep the Price tag the same, but still offer a large hunk of mechtech they need to reduce the overall volume of the figure.
So yes, Ironhide is noticeably smaller than previous versions.

No, no mistake on your part, it's hasbro. They need to release a new voyager mold for ratchet, it's so ugly! Not to mention its a total inaccurate brick. you want the best? Downsize to the deluxe verions, and get the two primes and shockwave and megatron in voyager size, it's not the BEST scale, but it's pretty close to scale in comparison, esp. if you bring in the dreads, and you can use a couple of the smaller autobots like sideswipe in bot' mode, and it's all give or take, but my "Mexican Standoff" Looks hilarious on the shelf with sidearm sideswipe, 2007 Voyager Ironhide with 2009 voyager guns and two dreads looks beast! It all depends on how to display them I guess.......

Yes....Deluxe ratchet looks the most screen accurate, but depends on what you display him with. I was hopeing Targets exclusive Ratchet would have been a different mold instead of just repainting it.

THIS. But you could replace Voyager Optimus Prime for the Deluxe version as an option.

I miss my '07 Ironhide!! *cries*
I love my DOTM VC one, but he's nothing compared to the '07 one. Hasbro has really did some strange things with the new scaling. But I am happy with my LC one.

Long live the Decepticons!! I love G1 Starscream!!
Don't tell Starscream, but I'm in love with movieverse Ironhide!

I think it is really hard to beat the 07 Premium. That sucker just looks amazing. The new Voyager IH is one I wanted really badly, but it turned out to be a major step down for me. It is a bit more accurate in bot mode, but the truck mode isn't nearly as good as it should be. And, yes....it is markedly smaller this time around.

The DOTM toy line is on a smaller scale than the first 2 movies so here is my answer to your question from another post."I would display DOTM DLX Ratchet with DOTM DLX Bumblebee & Sideswipe, deluxe Wreckers, voyager Ironhide, HFTD Voyager Optimus and maybe Leader Sentinel Prime(Leader Sentinel is just a little big for this scale in bot mode but just right in vmode). I would display the Target Voyager Ratchet(until we get a Leader Ratchet) with ROTF Leader Optimus, Leader Ironhide and all of the HA figures(Leader Sentinel’s vmode is too small, bot mode is ok but I think he’s on the short side for this scale so I wounldn’t display him with this combo). Deluxe Laserbeak looks good with Leaders only imo." The GMC Topkick is a little bigger than the Hummer in the TF Movies so my movieverse IH will be bigger than Ratchet. Here's a pic of the original vehicles in the '07 movie.

In vehicle mode I think this Voyager Ironhide is perfectly in scale with Leader RotF Prime in truck mode.

This pic is great for showing size in alt mode, but putting deluxe ratchet with deluxe cars makes Ratchet way out of scale there. An middle scale between voyager and deluxe is where Ratchet should fit. He wouldn't be greatly smaller then Ironhide. A little yes, but not voyager to deluxe unless you have scout class Bumblebee and Sideswipe? And unfortunately voyager Ratchet is bigger then Ironhide. Maybe leader Ironhide and voyager Ratchet is your best display in bot mode bet honestly.

I found this list. It isn't the clearest thing but doesn't look to bad actually. Shows Ratchet is a bit smaller then Ironhide and the others.

I agree, but until we get a DOTM Voyager Ratchet mold I'm using the DOTM DLX(in bot-mode) with my DOTM Voyager Ironhide. The Target Exclusive Voyager Ratchet('07 & ROTF mold) is too big for DOTM Voyager Ironhide for me.

I think the pic is a bit in accurate since I don't imagine starscream being that big in comparison to Prime

I think it's pretty close actually. And in the 07 movie interviews with Bay he was saying he didn't want to cheat any. He didn't want a tape player turning into a 25 foot robot. And look at this pic below posted earlier in the topic. Starscream is huge compared to Prime.

Their bot modes in the movies are another story, though. I've watched them a million times. Starscream is nearly the same size as Prime, just wider. Ironhide shifts between coming up past Prime's hips to just under his shoulders. In some scenes Ratchet is taller than Ironhide. In DotM Sideswipe is nearly as tall as Ironhide.
It's not perfect, but I believe DotM voyager IH is the best IH out there. I'm just hoping we'll get a new voyager Ratchet mold.
