Questions about older comics and newer TF series.
I have a set of comics from the original series listed here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190662984406?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 I have the complete first set of 80 and the headmasters and 80s 3D series. I have a number of the 1993 series but without looking through a ton of boxes I have no idea how long I followed it. Anybody know how many issues that one went? Anybody know much about the 2004 series? Anybody have some of the 2004 series for trade for my extras of the 84 series (picture in link)?

"Generation 2" only lasted twelve issues, crossed over with G.I. Joe for four to five issues and had a separate Halloween special that was printed in issue two.

Thanks, there's a good chance I have all the G2 then. I picked up some of the new series that just started and it mentioned more recent series.

Just G1 series? Okay, from Dreamwave there were three volumes of The War Within set in the early days of the war on Cybertron. The first two volumes were 6 issues each, the last volume was only up to issue 3 when the company folded. Micromasters was a 4 issue miniseries set between WW and the main DW G1 continuity. There were 3 volumes of the main G1 title, the first 2 being 6 issues each and the last (planned to be ongoing) volume got up to about issue 10. There were also 8 issues of More Than Meets The Eye, which was a profile book series geared to the DW continuity and a handful of 'zero' issues and one shots.
IDW picked up the license after DW went under, initially publishing story arcs as self contained miniseries before going over to an ongoing, and now 2 ongoing titles. Leading up to the ongoing were Infiltration (6 issues), Stormbringer (4 issues), Escalation (6 issues), Devastation (6 issues) and All Hail Megatron (12 issues) as well as various one shots tying into the ongoing story arc under the Spotlight title. {i]Last Stand of the Wreckers{/i] goes between AHM and the ongoing, and the Bumblebee and Ironhide miniseries concurrent with it.
Both DW and IDW story arcs were their own unique continuities with no real links to each other or what had come before in comics or cartoons.
I was writing a guide several years ago that I fell out of the habit of updating, and some of the info may not have dated as well as it could (IDW changed some of their planned releases), but if you want to take a look it can be found here

Between both publishers there have also been various non G1 titles over the last decade covering Beast Wars, RiD (in a one shot), Armada, Energon, Cybertron (reprinted from the Club comics), Animated and the Bay movies.

Thankyou for the answer. I wish there weren't so many #1s. It defeats the concept of a numbering system.

Waaaaghlord, I had no idea you had written that guide.
Very nicely done!
It would have been extremely helpful a couple of weeks ago, when I picked some stuff up!
Are you thinking of adding the post '-ation' series too?
It could come in handy for a lot of people in my same situation.
Although I guess now IDW is publishing the complete collection it won't be needed as much. Hm.
But again, nice work! And sorry if I doubted you and called just for Sabrblade.

By Post 2000, do you mean the Dreamwave run or what came before that?

Thanks. It has been -shock horror- almost 5 years since I last did any updating. I was without internet for some of that time and never got round to picking up where I left off. I'll have a look through my comic boxes and see what else I can reliably update as I've not been keeping up with IDW's output lately. I'll bump the thread back to the first page once I've added some new content.
