Yup, the ROTF Bludgeon-design seems to have been officially repurposed as G1 Bludgeon. So too in my collection (with the Headrobots upgrade).
I sold off my Animated & Unicron Trilogy figures long ago. I was a fan of TFA cartoon, but not the figures, and I was a fan of the Unicron Trilogy toys, but not the cartoon. To simplify my collection and fight purchase impulses, I've closed off those molds from my collection, even as stand-ins. Outside of Classics (including WFC/FOC) mainline-type figures, I shoehorn Movie & Prime into my Classics collection.
I tend to use Movie-verse figures that have repaints, since mold duplication helps the movie-styling seem less out of place. So, Lockdown/Axor/Circuit, Bludgeon/Banzaitron, DOTM Space Case/TFCC Depthcharge, etc. Lugnut is a notable exception, but he was intended for Classics all along from what I understand.
As far as Prime, I've been using BH Smokescreen (until I can find a reasonably priced Henkei version), GDO Cliffjumper, TFSS 1.0 Slipstream, a couple Sharkticon Megatrons (the brutes complement my UT Sharkie grunts), and a dozen PRID Vehicons as generic decepticon soldiers. I look forward to adding TFCC Protoform X/Transmutate, TFSS 2.0 Barricade, and Cloud Brawn to this list. If something doesn't give, and soon, I'll probably pick up BH Shockwave as well, since the line is on clearance at Target right now.
Oh, almost forgot - and this is a true filling of the gap - I'm going to use Predacons Rising Darksteel as Classics Deathsaurus, pending the free reprolabels set & ZF head upgrade. Can't wait!
