At that price point it would have to be some thing like the G1 Prime we just got. Probably going to be a 25th anniversary figure.Wonder who its going to be?

A set like that you say,
For even 5 dollars I would not pay.

LOL!

Well for that price I'm betting it's the Soundwave Reissue, or some kind of 2 pack. MAYBE minibots, the same assortment as the TFC version, though that would be rather expensive if it were them.

Or it could be something along the lines of the recent Prime "reissue"...like, say, a Targetmaster Hot Rod molded in bright pinkish-red (and pale grey, almost white guns), with a comic that won't be included in the Canadian release. And a soundbox that plays "The Touch", which would be the only halfway cool part of the set.

Then again seeing they are bring him out again is Japan maybe it's the Combaticon pack. Cause I'd buy that.

It's funny that you shold mention the Combaticons because that was one of the original thoughts that ran through my mind but I dismissed since I didn't figure it would fall into the price range. Myself, I wouldn't mind having the Technobots set. I think my kids would get a kick out of seeing that.

I can almost go for Metroplex79's idea of the human pack but I think they should throw Autobo X into the mix since I dont think anybody wants to throw out that kind of cash for a box of "fleshlings".

Has anyone considered the Deluxe Insecticons? That would be about $50 bucks worth of G1 figures. Not saying I would want to see it hit the shelves, I'm just trying to think like Hasbro as best I can without hurting myself or feeling the need to shower afterwards.

Hasbro was only loaned those molds in the 80's(or something to that extent), so it can't be them, since they don't own them.

I doubt it would be a new mold.

For $50, it's gotta be something somewhat big, and it would have to have major selling power, so only major G1 guys would apply.

My bets:

Powermaster Prime with Apex Armor. He's been reissued before at that price, oh I hope he is again cause I missed out and my PM Prime has no weapons.

G1 Seeker Trio. Easy to sell, easy to market, and only one mold to use. Of course, they could just throw in several extra's and sell just Starscream.....

G1 Ultra Magnus. No real reason, just seams reasonable, as he's somewhat big and would fit the price range.

However, you wanna know what would be REALLY crazy? If we got Universe 2.0 Thundercracker, Thrust, and Dirge  . The molds exist, and wouldn't discount the Botcon figures if colored differently enough....

Yet as Takara had the molds back it should be an option to them.

At the price they are selling Pinkimus Prime for, I doubt it.

I have 3 Starscreams already, only if it's the ghost or in a shattered paint deco

Concidering they already released him as the Target exclusive, and that Fansproject has run with the trailer option, I doubt that.

If Hasbro pulled that one, then the level of fan rage would be thru the roof. unless again Shattered paint apps but I don't see that happening.

G1 Magnus, not Classics  .

G1 Magnus was also part of the initial "Commemorative Series" back in the day for $30 I belive, so it's not unreasonable they'd sell him for $50 with all the movie hype. If they had to throw in an extra, I'd wager a reprint of IDW's Movie Adaptation #1.

I wasn't going to mention it, but yeah... :SMUG:

Since I mentioned reissuing the Jumpstarters...anyone up for some reissued Battlechargers or Throttlebots? ***ducks***

What about giving the Duocons some love? Everyone could always use more Duo....
***ducks, and raises shields***

Seriously....I'm torn about this news, don't really want straight up re-issues of vintage figures, and how many of us are sick of repaints of existing molds? Man, it's hard to make people happy...if it's going to be repaints of post-BW/BM molds, I would have stuck it under the Universe flag, rather than Commemorative Series.

I would be more than willing to shell out my money (to slag with the current economy) on G1 molds repainted into new characters.

I mentioned Artfire earlier, but I'd settle for interesting new color schemes:
-red Jazz mold with black detailing
-blue Sideswipe mold with red detailing
-"Decepticon-styled" purple Insecticons with grey detailing
-red/blue seeker mold
-yellow Bluestreak with red detailing
-black Sideswipe mold with red flames (much different from reprolabels' Hotswipe, of course)
-dare I say it, original G1 molds recolored with Shattered Glass theme? :-B

Come on guys, I'm just kidding about Wheelie. And really. I've heard from reliable sources inside TRU that the listing is for a MicroMaster playset.

Those Wreckers gestalt and Jumpstarter repaints are fantastic ideas. Though maybe Buzzsaw's head would suit Topspin better than tha Cyclonus head.

Wouldn't mind a 3 basic repaint set if it had some of the following:

Clocker as Hot Rod/ WW Streetwise
Divebomb as Banzai-tron
Hard Top (with head remold)as Ruckus
Cruellock as Tyrannitron
Ransack/Rapid Run as Rad/ WW Groove
Strong Arm as Roadbuster
Overhaul as Crankcase
Robotmasters Mirage as G2 Double Clutch or Dragstrip

Deluxes I'd like would be:

Demolisher as Hard Head
Titanium Seeker as Windsweeper/ Whisper
Defence Hot Shot as Ruckus
Sharkticon as Scourge/ IDW Finback
Slugslinger as Cyclonus

I know none of these are likely but I'd still love them.

Closer to reality but still highly dubious, maybe RID Ultra Magnus as Motormaster or Energon Omega Supreme in G1 colours.

I like that G1 Sideswipe as Wheeljack idea if it were Armada Wheeljack with etched insignia. Also like Sideswipe as Stunticon Breakdown or that yellow RID Spychanger whose name escapes me. Or just remold the head and give us a new G1 Sunstreaker.

I'm not sure which I admire more, your reflexes or your sheer ballsiness. :P

I could actually see them releasing a complete Throttlebot gift-set. The TFA and Movie-line Activators and FAB's seem to be a hit and I think the Grav. Bots will win over the really young kids. A throttlebot set would actually be a G1 good set for young TF fans to get their hands on. Besides which,my original collection was only missing 1 of them (Freeway) and I really liked Wideload. Damn, now I'm starting to miss my old G1 stuff all over again.

The others I'd like to see released are the Headmasters. I used to have Chromedome w/Stylor and my buddy had Skullcruncher and Snapdragon. You know, Apeface and Snapdragon I could totally see being dumped into the aforementioned price-range but I think Hasbro has purposefully been steering away from the gimmic toys with PM Prime and Ricochet (I think) being the exceptions.

Ya'll are nuts.

Dollars to doughnuts it's going to be the SDCC version of G1 Soundwave.

Think about just how much sense that makes with the listing, price, and the trends with SDCC exclusives the past few years.

Vegas Odds would agree with you CP, but you know how fanboy heads work so we'll speculate for weeks to maximize our displeasure or happy smugness when whatever it is, is announced.

As I have the bookbox Soundwave I'm happy, but the temptation if it is him, will force me to buy him.

as far as my loong shot prediction, I'll say Thunderclash. :-B

I say this with the utmost respect but in response to the first comment...well, duh, what was the first clue? :P
(gave ya props on the Legends Devs. thread btw)

As for the SDCC Soundwave, do you think the fans are going to go for yet another redo of Soundwave? We have the first re-issue and then the release at the start of the Classics/Universe line. I think with as many as are still floating around in the specialty shops and online stores gathering dust, another version wont exactly fly off the shelf. I know 2 places I could head out right now and pick one up but I'm also looking at my G1 SW on the shelf next to me so there's no need. If you know something I don't I'm happy to be educated further. This whole thread has been rather enlightening and nostalgic for me.

I think we've bantered back and forth enough times for me to say that I'm fairly sure you are the type of guy who would be right there alongside me letting the air out of the tires of the Care Bears Cloud Car when they aren't looking. B-)

That's the only reason I'm not going to give you a hard time for whizzing on my vision of a cool figure by bringing up the silver/grey knock-offs. :P

$70 dollars, and no DVD. Ours were packed with a reprint of Marvel Transformers Issue 1.

On sale til Monday for 40% off thou. I didn't bother to pick one up, the color is just off putting. How the heck can I put it on display anywhere near my Pepsi Convoy where the 'red' would make it look less legit than my KO Black Convoy.

Sounds like fun T-Mack, just remember they are pretty powerless if they catch you, all you need to do is knock them out before they finish counting down

A guy on TFW2005 says that it will retail for $35 in the US, and that the reissue hasn't been seen in the States. I'll let you guys hunt down the specific thread and post from the front page, but let's establish one thing: this doesn't exclude Wheelie.

Ever since the Drug Task Force took away all my fun (I used to spend my nights intimidating the tweekers that were harassing my older brother) I've come to realize I have too much freaking free time on my hands. I actually dug through my old computer files till I found copies I have of the original G1 figure catalogues so I could add other guesses to my list.
So, what do you guys think about Six-Shot...no, too big for the 50 range.
How about both sets of the clones? They didn't exactly suck and the adjusted price would just about fit. I can't believe I'm actually devoting this much time to this. Even I'm starting to find this disturbing.

Oh, and Editor...trust me, that "if" in "...if they catch you" is a REALLY big "if". Besides, I'd cut my own throat before I let one of those puffballs blow sunshine up MY ass!

Hey, this is the first non-HMW thread where I posted more than 3 times :shock: 8-}

This thread is open enough to warrent wild speculation and putting down other people's ideas

Speaking of which, my new speculations are it's going to be:

-Optimus Prime (with fancy packaging, new stickers and no extras)
-some tank that they'll name Megatron (or Galvatron)
-repackage some of the Movie's Real Gears together and call them Reflector  :P
-repaint 10 Micromasters and call them by their Series 1-4 names

My greatest and wildest and craziest speculation...

-have 5 sets where each comes with 1 basic, 1 deluxe, 3 Energon cubes, and a piece of the Ark (or Nemesis)

-the basics and deluxes could be anything from actual re-issues, or repaints of any mold.

-since purple Energon cubes have been done already, they'll make the color rainbow version.
http://www.tfrollout.com/Energon.jpg

-like what they did with the MASS Device sets, you have to buy all to complete the diorama.

-this idea will be to satisfy all the markets, the completists, the MISB, the mold collectors, kids, collectors who don't care about value, and diorama collectors.

-certain people would buy the sets then sell the diorama set to the diorama collectors
-the reverse would be true too, get the sets just for the diorama, and sell off the figures.

My reasons:
Hey, Hasbro already did that to us for BW 10th Anniversary to get Transmutate, the GI Joe fans to get the MASS Device, the Target exclusive Classics Skywarp/Ultra Magnus, how many people are guilty of buying it just to sell off UM?
