Or bribed an employee. It happens. You'd be amazed at what people will do for $20-50.00 even with a job giving them a constant paycheck.
TRU stockers have been known to do it, many times.
It's nice to have an inside connection. Too bad none of us can get the same deal. =\
Seibertron wrote:Why is that bad? You could've called your local Target as well to find out what they had in stock. Those of you who just randomly hunt stores without a battle plan in place are just wasting your time. Be proactive. Find out the SKU #s, the DCPI #s, etc. Call the stores ahead of time with that information.
Watch the toy reports on sites such as Seibertron or TFW to see when figures start showing up in stores. If there's a news post on Seibertron tomorrow that says Movie So-and-so has been sighted, don't wait until next Wednesday to go looking for that figure. Figure out how you're going to obtain it tomorrow. If you wait until your next paycheck in 5 to 10 days, I can guarantee that that brand spanking new figure will be long gone already.
Remember, every time you point a finger to blame someone else (i.e. the scalpers in this case), just remember that there are three fingers pointing back at you. Take responsibility for figuring out how to obtain new figures. It's not rocket science.
Please top blaming the so-called "Scalpers". They're just doing it the smart way.

Or he did the same thing that my buddy Paul and I did last week. We called around to a couple of Targets here in Chicago last Friday. I gave them the DCPI # for Movie G1 Starscream. They pulled out 3 cases of the figure. We each bought one case and left the other case there. We didn't bribe anyone. We didn't do anything that any of you can't do. Stop blaming the stockers and the so-called "scalpers". Be proactive with your toy hunting, just like my buddy and I were last Friday.

No. It's scalping. Especially in this case. 18 of Jazz? Come on. What about Target's "oneper" rule? That's been violated obviously. You and I couldn't do that, but this guy can. Scalpers know the angles and they sure do know how to screw everyone they can.
You're entitled to your opinion, but turning a blind eye to scalpers even existing is just silly bullsh*t.
Seibertron wrote:So am I a scalper for my buddy Paul and I buying 8 of the 12 Starscreams last Friday? I don't think the guy's doing anything wrong. If anything, he's hurting himself because there's no way he'll get top dollar for all of those on eBay. He has too many.

No, you're both greedy, which is almost as bad. But that's just my opinion. Hey, you asked.
The a$$hole seller is doing a lot of wrong. Not legally wrong, but morally wrong. Bad Karma wrong. He'll be selling those one at a time for $18 a piece, twice the retail price. That's price gouging. He's a scumbag. Every time I see a kid and his mom or pop at a Target or TRU staring disappointedly at bare pegs and shelves, it is because of greedy dirtbags like that guy who played a significant role in that. Toys are for kids first, period.
Autobot032 wrote:EDIT: I went to Target one time, they pulled out a case of assorted figures and when I offered to buy the entire case, I was turned down. I asked why and she said "Everyone has to be given a fair chance to buy these. We have collector rules in effect because of that." I said I'd be buying one of each figure by buying the case and that it'd be the same if I just pulled 'em right off the pegs. She said "Then do that. I can't sell you the case because one of the figures has two of the same toy in here. We're not allowed to sell multiples to one person, especially collectors. We can only sell one of each figure to you at a time. If you want to make several trips, we can't stop you." I bought what I could after she put them on the pegs and I walked away pissed off.
So there's more to this story than we're getting. Either you have one of the sh*ttiest run Targets, or the idea of making a major sale let their greed get in the way.
Either way, it's ridiculous and they should practice what they preach. AT ALL STORES.

Well technically they have the stock, they're in the business to sell the stuff, and if someone wants to buy it, why shouldn't they sell it to them? It's a very fast turnover for the store. It's also good business for Hasbro and Transformers in general, because it helps them to shift stock, and it also means that, years down the line you stand a better chance of still being able to get a figure MISB.
Don't forget the scalpers are also taking on a risk. They don't know that Hasbro's not about to ramp up production and flood the market with the figure they just bought a whole case of. The same figure could wind up at a substantial discount, and the scalper would be stuck with unsellable stock.
