No brilliant was when they released Silverbolt, Onslaught, Menasor, and a few versions of Motorbreath before and we bought them.

But Ultra Class Onslaught and Silverbolt are awesome... I have no regrets there.

I know hasbro won't do this, so I shouldn't even say it, but am I the only one hoping for Raiden? However, I am sure that's only a dream. :-(

It's probably because the picture is using just figures from wave one while Air Raid is wave two. If you look at the Optimus Prime combiner, it has Dragstrip as an arm for the same reason. Menasor is using it's "correct" limbs because all of them but Dragstrip are wave two and since you'll be getting wave one before wave two well you know; reasons, things and stuff. :BOOM:

I'm sensing a HOT SPOT repaint from the Motormaster/Optimus mold. I wouldn't mind if we get some Good Protectobots out of it that aren't all repaints. Also, I didn't read the entire thread yet, but did anyone notice that Superion's arms are where his legs should be and vice versa? Fireflight and Slingshot are supposed to be the arms (not ruling out the whole Scramble City thing, I'm strictly referring to the G1 cartoon where they were sort of pre-configured and never really changed up like they did in Scramble City).

They basically said, lets nail 4 and get the 5th one all wrong just to piss off the fans. It's always something with Hasbro. If they are scramble city, we can always hope Funpub makes good on where Hasbro failed. A proper Slingshot repaint with retooled wings from the Fireflight mold. And a repaint of Breakdown with a new Wildrider head. And maybe Dr. Wu can make a new head that looks more like Menasor and less like Unicron.

What if, Hasbro did this on purpose, and Wave 3 will have a proper Wildrider and Slingshot? Enforcing the ScrambleCity nature by replacing two figures you WANT with new characters and forcing you to therefore buy Add-on figures?

ueah, I don't think Hasbro's that smart either...

EDIT: Aannndddd WolfmanJake said the same thing a page back. Nevermind...

Also, I'd bet (someone else's) money they designed Menasor's head based on the PCC Crankcase figure.

Optimus is the remold.

Honest question, and I've been wondering this since Springer/Sandstorm, how do we tell which came first? In this case, we can sorta guess based on the Stunticosn, but the artwork shows they were planning on using Prime for Combiner fodder anyway so...

These combiners are a great improvement from the recent Combaticons fiasco. I feel there is room for improvement from some 3rd Party groups for both Superion and Menasor. :VEHI:

Am I bummbed cos I already have generations onslaught and silverbolt? nope. Same with powerglide and the multiple iterations of Optimus prime. I'd have been more pissed if i invested in third party figures cos of the costs involved.

A few gripes - slingshot might've been better as fireflight's mode as he was a vtol and the new fireflight seems to take after that look (tho a helicopter can make sense too), I have a feeling the chopper's been included because it will feature in repaints for vortex and or blades.

Stunticons look great and they all look great fun to play with... but menasor's head is atrocious. They always seemed to have problems getting it right. my g1 toy also bothered me for being a bit bug eyed. I thought my wallet would get a break cos of the film, how wrong was i??

 Excited for these...good to know that HasTak hasn't forgotten about all of us willing waiting and wanting combiner fans (although I bet the healthy, overpriced secondary market for gestalts probably swayed them), and I'm sure that we'll see a few revisions and tweaks for each set yet to come. As an aside, I would put my money on a Devastator set - I've been working on a Scoop repaint, and I've been curious about all of the extra detailing inside his hollow legs, seems like a waste of design dollars unless those two radial-pump looking thingies in their are male connector points, and given the fact that he can not only stand in for Scrapper, but he can be turned into a darn good replica of Devastator's foot. I know it sounds crazy, but hey, I called the Windblade/Cyclonus thing, and everybody body thought I was waaaay off base... so who knows? Mebbe our favorite toy company has some more surprises right under our noses! I'm just stoked that some of us that collect on a budget will finally be able to afford some modern-era combiners!!! :APPLAUSE:
...back in my day, you had one alt-mode. ONE! Articulation? why, if you had enough articulation to transform, you had plenty. And if you wanted more articulation, you know what you did about it? NOTHING. You transformed, stood there with your faceplate closed, and your optics sharp, just like everybody else who didn't have ball-jointed this, and swivel-jointed that. And when your were told to, you transformed and rolled out! ...And another thing...

What idiot Hasbro executive thinks the children (to whom this toy line survives) will give a **** about obscure combiner characters? Not to mention the fact that parents are not going to shell out $90 each for these. Yeah, the adult fans will buy them, but they are a VERY small percentage of sales. And at $16 a pop, this line is finished.

With Hasbro's crap quality these days, I will be surprised that if they can even stand up straight.

Yep thats the same mold as Prime. Looks good as Motormaster. Hopefully as good as prime.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

The resemblance is very apparent, but that head sculpt is Vortex all the way. It would have been nice had they bothered to pretool a different face for "not Slingshot." I still think we'll be surprised with what Hasbro and Takara have up their sleeves with these combiners.

Also, just to further add fuel to the "brilliant marketing" fire...what if we get proper versions of Slingshot and Wildrider, but ONLY as part of special edition giftsets of Superion or Menasor. Hasbro will make you rebuy four figures just to get one new one, and have a perfectly plausible reason (excuse) to do so!
