Maybe we will finally see the USS Titan on screen!

I’m very, very stoked for this.

Yes. Picard states it’s been 20 years since Data died.

You know, I have to wonder how they will handle the Romulus destruction plot since it is supposed to be key to the story. STO did have players investigate and found that the Remans were experimenting with Protomatter ultimately learning that everything was the result of something Tasha Yar's half-ROmulan daughter, Sela did in the past by stealing an artifact from the Iconians which set off the chain of events. But STO is not cannon. One has to wonder how the mystery will deviate from STO's version.

Seeing as how that part of the franchise is dead, I'd imagine they will just pretend it never happened.

Sadly no USS Titan and no sign of the Enterprise E. Riker and Troi are retired and enjoying the quiet life with a kid of their own.

I'm assuming they will ignore it. There is a long standing tradition of ignoring alternate media material for the on-screen canon. As an example: I seem to recall that there was a series of Star Trek comics stating Kirk and Co. taking command of the USS Excelsior after the events of "Search for Spock" right up until "Voyage Home" was released.

I was talking to an acquaintance and she was excited at the prospect of the Picard series "using STO storylines". I had to point out that the Picard series using the same source material as those STO storylines is not the same thing. Whatever Picard says happened regarding the destruction of Romulus is going to take precedence over anything that STO has already established.

I'm more looking forward to Star Trek: Picard than just about anything else.

Highly recommend checking out the latest "Short Trek" "Children of Mars". Short Treks have mostly centred around Discovery, but this one is clearly pre-Picard and gives a major indication of what will be the focus for Picard.

It ain't the Romulans.

I’ve been out of the loop for a long time

Where can these short treks be found?

Maybe they reversed the ruling from "Measure of a Man" after the events of Nemesis?

Wouldn't quite explain where they all came from and who made them :-? Plus I can't see them rescinding Data's rights when crew members being forced against their will to do things is par for the course in Star Trek

Unless it's an army of EMHs...

It's been implied in previous trailers that Picard is on the outs with Starfleet, that unnamed admiral declares that it isn't [Picard's] house anymore. This is entirely speculation, but is it possible that Starfleet isn't quite as ethical as it once was?

Well he's supposed to have left as the federation was supposed to have taken on isolationist tendencies (wonder what real life situation that's referring to...)

My point was more that it would be silly to rescind data's rights just because of that one time when Geordi was mentally used a fair few times  then there was the time in tng when that game brainwashed everyone who played it... You get my point

I get your point but I don’t really see how that would actually factoring

I could actually see how those events might actually lead to the idea of either resending the rights of artificial life forms or bypassing them

Remember events from the war in DS9.....Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges, And I’m referring to the term not necessarily the episode, in times of war the law falls silent and the same typically applies to times of great danger, I can see how the dangers of the recent past and possible those coming from the future would have led many in Starfleet security to see the usefulness of Data ,even in those particular events as more of a reason To overlook those laws in favor of creating an army of soldiers that they don’t need to concern themselves with to avoid the loss of human life

And it’s not like Starfleet hasn’t tried to do something like this before....:M5 anyone

It’s something that Starfleet considered/tried, to a lesser degree, back in Kirks day with the M5 unit

The idea being that they could accomplish all their adjectives, exploration defense etc. while risking Minimal “human” life

And this is something i could see Picard not agreeing with
