But hey, IDW brainstorm, that alone makes it worthwile for me

It is actually similar to the system used for the smaller Headmasters: Hosehead, Nightbeat, Siren, Fangry, Horri-Bull and Squeezeplay: they all used a single tumbler due to size limitations.
It looks like there's just a spring and a clip on the techspec panel

Same principle, no? One single panel or tumbler for all 3 specs.
No i'm not denying that, I was just commenting it's a springy panel. until now I thought the tech specs were the details in the cockpit, like in place of the controls, not a panel that goes over it when the headmaster's plugged in

What was cool about the classic G1 Headmaster system is that each headmasters were interchangable between different robots. Depending of the head the robot was wearing, it's stats changed accordingly. This way, the true powere were only in the heads, the headless body being just a brainless vegetable with zero in every stats.
Still, that new and simpler system on Brainstorm is a nice hommage without creating a costly gimmick.
Come see my latest creation, Death Hand, the actual transforming Transformers!

I like the Targetmaster with Takara Swerve better, it actually looks kinda like his My First Blaster from MTMTE. Looks like Tailgate is more G1 toy coloured as the Hasbro one is IDW comic colours.

I know! I took one look at the Hasbro one at the store then went home and pre-ordered the Takara one. NOT going to deal with another BM Jetstorm fiasco. I can wait til December for it to arrive.

Slightly off topic, why do i have the weird feeling that if Cosmos is released in the Legends line, in might be cheaper than the aftermarket prices for the generations figure.

I dropped both Chromia and Arcee in favour of these two. Arcee looks much better with the soft grey on black instead of the hard black/white contrast. I like Chromia's translucent blue plastic instead of Hasbro's clear plastic.
I don't really have much of an attachment to Windblade, so I don't feel the need to spend more money on her.

There's not many Takara paint jobs i think are worthy of the extra coin , but they nailed Arcee with this one .
That black neck piece on the hasbro version looks ugly .

That shot with Jetfire reminds me of that episode of BW where Rattrap and Una are rafting down the river on Depth Charges back. Almost legitimizes that digibash of Jetfire into Depth Charge that I saw.

My point is that it probably will be removed eventually, time will take care of that

On the plus side I do appreciate that they made it red plastic underneath. So if the chrome does fail it won't be white or grey underneath. That Legends Arcee looks great

Well, is there any concern that the chrome will disintegrate like gold plastic? With the red plastic underneath, that should alleviate any of those concerns, right?
I do like how looking at Takara Jetfire immediately made me nostalgic for the G1 Jetfire toy.

Chrome flaking and Gold Plastic Syndrome are two entirely different things.

Right. That's what I was asking. Were people afraid that the chrome was the entire mold, or just the flaking. Sorry if I wasn't clear in that.
