Hi guys, I picked up Outback on the weekend and thought I should review him. You can see my review below, and the rest of my stuff at http://teletraan2.blogspot.com/ Enjoy...

Figure Details

Manufacturer - Hasbro
Toyline - Transformers 2010
AKA 'Fallback'

Additions/Mods:
- Added an Autobot symbol to the centre of the chest
- Added a split Autobot to the bonnet (removed the rubsign)

Review

Appearance (Robot Mode) 6/10
I have fond memories of Outback, due to his role in the story arc leading up to issue 100 of the UK Transformers comic. I was not going to buy this figure but relented whan I saw it for the bargain price of £6.50! Being a redeco fo a movie-verse figure, this figure has his issues. Namely, there is a lot of kibble hanging off of his back and shoulders and his arms are extremely long, and his hands connect to his forearms at a slightly funny angle, so they seem to point down a bit. That said, he has a very nice headsculpt and looks imposing. I also love the earthy colour scheme.

Appearance (Alternate Mode) 8/10
This figure is actually Fallback, but figures of Outback have been called this before so it is unambiguous as to whether this is supposed to be Outback - but the alt mode makes me believe that it is. The original Outback was based on the Brawn mould, so it stands to reason that this is the same case here. The original alt mode was an offroad vehicle with a gun mounted onto the roof, as is this. It's actually a very nice alt mode indeed, with chunky tyres and lots of great detailing.

Transformation 7/10
There is a fair bit of shellforming going on here, but the transformation is actually very satisfying. You would never guess how the arms are incorporated into the alt mode either - shame they are so damn long.

Poseability 8/10
This figure has fabulous articulation, until you get to his arms, which have no bicep swivel - making the upper body poses limited. However, his arms bend at the elbow over 2 joints, so he can fold his arm as if he were doing a bicep curl. His head/neck is on a ball joint and can pitch back and forth.

Image

Durability 9/10
This mould feels really solid, I have no real compaints here. All the joints feel tight, and it doesn't feel like any undue stress is applied during posing of transformation.

Overall - 38/50
I like this figure quite a lot. If only the arms were in proportion, I would be a lot happier. I would prefer a scout class figure as well, in order to keep the 'Minbots' to scale with each other, but Hasbro have already made a pig's ear with that one by bringing out Legends, Scout, Deluxe, Voyager and Ultra sized minibots! This is a good stand-in for Outback, despite not looking that much like him in robot mode.

I know what you mean - it isn't very 'Outback'. But it's not remotely insectoid or anything.
