If you count Torchwood as part of Doctor Who, then yes (I haven't seen it, but I am assuming I'll love it.)

But yeah, referencing the fact that he's seen this face before, it's very curious. Much like when Colin Baker played that Gallifreyan general in that 5th Doctor episode and the 6th Doctor looked a lot like him...

It's always been hinted at in the series, mainly by Romanavelentura, that Time Lord's can, more or less, control their features during regeneration or afterwards ("Might just bring down the age, just to freak people out."). And it would explain the possible future Doctor in the 50th anniversary special talking about how the younger Doctor would be seeing some old faces again...

Yeah, course Torchwood is part of Doctor Who, it takes place in the same Universe and they cross over.

There was an interview not too long ago in which Moffat stated that Davis had plans to explain why two somewhat prominent characters were played by Capaldi, and that he was likely going to base an upcoming story on that. So I'm exited.

I think we'll be able to tell by the next episode whether the Clockwork man jumped or was pushed. Should the next episode feature a Misty scene with someone who committed suicide, we can assume she picks only suicides, and that the Clockwork man jumped.

Just had a look at the episode list, and one that peaked my interest is episode 6 "The Caretaker", it's co-written by Moffat and therefore likely to be continuity heavy. Could this be the return of Tom Baker's "Caretaker" from the 50th special?

Tom Baker was the Curator, sadly not the Caretaker.

Love the idea about how Missy is only taking suicides though.

Seriously! People actually complained about that! I personally find it refreshing to see a unashamedly homosexual relationship in a prime time show that is geared towards younger viewers, the BBC should be congratulated for such broadcasting. I watched it with my kids (aged 5 and 3) neither them or myself batted an eyelid at the "kiss".

Think about it the other way around. Only six people complained about it. That's an almost comically small number.

I always love that they can get away with so much death yet something like a lesbian kiss and people complain. Though it could of been worse, any higher numbers then there would of been a pointless investigation that would of boiled down to wether it was a kiss or not.

Also I wish Torchwood wasn't part of the universe, hate what it became in the end. Sarah Jane Smith adventures were far better.

On the subject of regenerations there is examples in old who, with Romana choosing a form, and the time his regeneration was forced upon him.

Here's something else I want to see this season. The other time lords. Bring back the sub plot of them chasing the doctor to be president.

Personally I think Misty is picking people who have died that The Doctor could have saved, the clockwork man (wether jumped or pushed) could have been saved as could the soldier (in theory) accompanying him into the Dalek.

Watching the previews for this weeks episode I wasn't expecting much from it.

But I enjoyed it.

Clearly you SHOULD bring a spoon to a sword fight.
No appearance by Missy this time. Probably intentional, could have been due to last minute edits (a decapitation scene was removed due to recent ISIS decapitations)
I couldn't look at The Sheriff and not think "That's The Master! Anthony Ainley's alive!"

I thought that as well, at one point I wondered if it was intentional

As for the episode itself, it was okay. Best part was seeing the doctor arguing with Robin. Clara seemed very up herself this time. Is it strange that I like her character better when she's not in control? Aka her not trying to be the doctor.

No missy but talk of the promised land again.

I was really not looking forward to this episode, I thought it was going to be silly, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying it. It won't go down as a classic episode but it was enjoyable enough as an early episode. It did well to establish the new Doctor's personality of pretending to be a grumpy old man despite his obvious penchant for mischief. "You can't keep me locked up with a laughing man!"

Also.. Clara in that dress. :michaelbay:

Didn't really like this weeks episode, it wasn't bad, but it was not all too great either.

whaaaglord seems to have confirmed a feeling I had back in episode 1. You know Missy's Heaven?
It reminded me of that garden from Apapalucia Amy was trapped in for decades, and lo and behold he gave me this over FB:

He also said that Missy might actually be a Clara Fragment, with hints being dropped like Strax calling Clara "Miss C" in the first episode, and Missy's "boayfriend" references.

Gotta admit, that's a damn good theory and kinda likely, that Clara Fragment could have been trapped there due to the way time works differently in those rooms and thus she wasn't salvaged yet by the Doctor.

Now that is interesting, I was thinking that the place looked familiar. Not totally sold on the Clara theory but it makes more sense then the master one I've heard.

I was disappointed by the latest episode. I think it could've focused more on the relationship between the robots and the sheriff. Just wanted more from this episode.

I don't think there was more to the relationship between them. The sherrif probably promised them gold, they followed.

I know, but I was hoping more for of a moral for the story. I get the idea, Robin Hood will be forgotten as a person and live on as a legend, blah blah, you know the drill. It just felt really stale and unexciting. It's been seen a hundred times in different movies. "The person you were will fade to the sands of time, the legend that you leave will last forever." Blech, get me a bucket!

Dr who in the old days had tons of episodes like that though were there was no morals to tell, just great stories like one of my favourites, pyramids of mars. Hail Sutek! :P

I wonder if this will mean more historical episodes in the future.

Thats a nice idea, I would be happy with that.

I was thinking that Missy could be a Time Lord and "The Promised Land" could be her TARDIS interior, bit of a reach I know but we'll see.

So episode 4 down and I really like this doctor, I'm quite confident about him now, as to where he is on my all time fav list is yet to be seen but he's beaten eccleston by a large margin and overtook Colin and pertwee.

The episode itself though. I know that it was vague intentionly, to give a psychosocial look at the characters but there's still a few things that don't add up. I'm beginning to really dislike Clara and how they are using her. At this rate I'll be looking forward to her gone. Danny keeps on being developed but I now wonder if he'll tie into any of the series arcs. Overall a solid entry though people are spreading rumours of a cameo from Charles dance as the master which I didn't notice and I suspect may not exist.

Though I did like the small easter egg in the next episode preview :)

Going from the previews I thought we might have had one of those on-the-edge-of-your-seats episodes like Blink.

It wasn't. In fact it was a let down.

I don't mind Clara, I'm finding her a nice balance for Capaldi's Doctor who seems to be a little more nuttier/insane than previous incarnations.

Curious though as to how the Tardis returned to Gallifrey considering it's still suppose to be lost.

Were there any references to Heaven and Missy this week?

Nope, there was more references to past who episodes but nothing about missy, unless the theory about Clara being missy is correct then she was messing with the inside of the tardis.

My dislike stems from what position they seem to be setting Clara up for, that of the doctors greatest assistant ever.

The galifrey problem is being debated across the net, some folks though are saying it's not galifey itself but another world in their empire. It's an argument that I don't think will be settled until Moffat speaks up.

What's to argue? It was clearly shown that it's the same shack the War Doctor returns to to set off his doomsday weapon which was on Galifrey.

And has any other planets in the Time Lord Empire even been referenced in the TV series?
