In regards to current topic on the boards, I'm curious to see the fandoms thoughts on the matter.

Cast your votes here, Do you like the Wreck Gar mold or the Optimus mold for Motormaster?

Even though I am not a fan of this set, I think that the Wreck-Gar mold would have been perfect. A boxy head just fits and that color scheme looks great on him ... I might have even have been tempted to pick Motormaster up if Wreck-Gar was the mold choice. I dunno what it is about the Prime mold, but it just looks really awkward and wrong with that choice for a head.

They should have made a whole new mold. I wanted to see Animated go out with a bang. A huge nuclear bomb that destroys everything in it's path. But we just got repaints.

I vote Prime, as I don't really see a semi in Wreck-Gar. I mean, look at him from the side:

To me, that looks like a truck with a box on its bed, not like a semi with a trailer. Let alone the fact it's a garbage truck.

Another reason is that in G1 Prime and Motormaster had (roughly) the same alt-mode. Translate that into Animated, and you basically get (yet another) Prime clone by default. Different style head and body? I say, original body destroyed by Cosmic Rust (see the Bots of Science book) and his head transplanted. Makes sense, no?

I will say that I went for Wreck Gar. Mostly because the Prime mold is too much like Shattered Glass Optimus.

I do like Motormaster, but he's too much like SG Optimus for my liking

If Motormaster came with the Wingblade parts recoloured like the other Stunticons for a psuedo-Menasor combination I would love it.

As it is, I don't even know if the Stunticons were a good choice if Botcon were stuck with these molds.

Botcon exclusives are always repaints, never new molds. There was never any chance of getting a new mold here. No one is debating that. And Animated went out with Rodimus and Ironhide. I think Rodimus was quite a bang to go out on.

I think Wreckgar fits better. Though would have liked Ultra Magnus's mold as Motormaster.

I was hoping to see Motormaster as a repaint of Ultra Magnus more than Wreck-Gar. Motormaster should be a lot bigger than the individual Stunticons so leader class Ultra Magnus would of been a perfect choice.

I pretty much agree with Blurrz. Wreck-Gar woulda made a good enough looking BotCon TFA Motormaster, but I honestly don't really like the mold. After finally buying the Prime mold, on the other hand, I liked it so much I gave the Animated line a whole 'nother chance. Prior to that I was quite anti-Animated. I do like the way the alt mode looks for this version, too...and bot mode is okay.

Plus, without his forks, Wreck-Gar can only stand if you put him in the skiing position...and it woulda been pretty lame if they left 'em on.

I finally figured out what was rubbing me the wrong way about this. It isn't the mold, it's the fact that there's not enough grey on him and what there is is a kind of submarine-y blue-grey rather than the G1 silver-grey. It makes him look not Motormastery enough.

I think I might agree with this on some level. I think having him as a grey truck would've been a better choice than a black truck. I guess it depends on what's most important to you personally. I see a lot of fans who like the choice of Prime's mold commenting on the vehicle mode. Alternate modes are secondary to the robot mode. I'd rather have a good looking robot mode than a good looking vehicle mode.

Bottom line I guess it really comes down to preference. I just got the Allspark Almanacs today and after looking at the Wreck-Gar images again, I can see why Wyatt would have preferred the more "muscular" looking Optimus Prime body for Motormaster instead of the gangly goofy looking Wreck-Gar body. At least for the cartoon. The toy of Wreck-Gar isn't as thin in the legs as the cartoon is.

I'd love to see how many black Optimus Primes people have who like the Motormaster/Optimus Prime choice versus those that don't like it. I can't help but think there might be a correlation there.

That might be a good point. I think the choice looks cool enough, but I don't have any black Animated Primes already. And admittedly, my interest in Animated in general is relatively mild so I don't really care beyond whether they look cool overall...especially if the resale value isn't going to be there and I'm "stuck" with these figs.

I personally feel like it would have been better to have Deluxe Prime as Motormaster and UM as Menasor with Stunticon-coloured arms and legs.

Meh.

I don't like MotorMaster using Prime's mold in general, or black Optimus repaints. They just seem lazy and cliche, respectively.
Of course, the only reason I'd consider using the Wreck-Gar mold is because of a certain fan custom.

I think I have to agree with Diem and say the lack of gray is the main problem here.

I'm not a huge fan of Animated, but I can just about stomach the voyager OP mold, and in my opinion, the leader of the Stunticons deserves better than a 'bin track' or a brick with stumpy legs.

I also like the fact that they choose Primes mold to be Motormaster, as it harps back to the G1 episode 'Masquerade' where the Autobots pretended to be Stunticons to foil Megatron's plans.

Yet another reason it's unfortunate that Animated Ultra Magnus wasn't a Voyager class figure...

Edit: Though alt-mode wise, the UM mold would make more sense for Onslaught.

That is just beautiful as well. A car carrier Motormaster would be awesome in my opinion, especially if he could load up the Stunticons on his trailer.

I think that Ultra Magnus would have been the best. I don't mind Prime, but Magnus would have been the cooler choice. But I think Hasbro didn't want to justify having to produce another big toy like that, so they went with the more financially sound choice, Prime. Smaller, and I think most fans were expecting that anyway, so it wasn't really a letdown.

I totally agree. Prime makes more sense to me. Plus, I really don't like he Animated Wreck-Gar mold anyways.

I vaguely remember thinking that was an oversight on Hasbro's part before I could read the word 'Hasbro'.

But then, I never had the G1 Motormaster toy, so it was years before I had any grasp of how his transformation worked. The cartoon, after all, was not much to go by in that sense.

Come to it... I also remember getting excited watching Knight Rider because there was an episode with a very Motormasterish big-rig... It's weird the associations that come back to you...

Oh, jeepers. I wish I had about eight or nine hours with Photoshop to contribute to this idea. I love it!! :lol:

I might try a Leader Bulkhead, though. As I said in the other thread, I like the idea better, especially with the shoulder "wings" potentially mirroring G1 Motormaster's
