Skywarp turned at the sound of Thundercracker’s voice. “Oh, there you are! You snuck up on me, which is more than I can say for that loud mouth, Runamuck. He can’t even orbital bounce quietly.” Moments later, Swindle materialized in the canyon near the battle charger. “Is this all we got? Great, looks like you and I will be doing most of the work, ‘Cracker.” Warp then leaned up against the rock wall near his friend, but before the teleporter could get too comfortable, Soundwave’s orders quickly came in over the comm. link. “Well, that didn’t take long, thankfully. I was afraid we’d have to wait out here for several cycles. Let’s blast some Autobots!”

And with that said, Skywarp exited the cave, transformed and took to the air, heading for Megatron’s coordinates.

Outside Area 51

Smokescreen stood in awe as the ground opened up and he watched Megatron fly out with a purple Cybertronian slung over his shoulder. “Is that…..Shockwave?!”

“Sure looks like it, Smokey,” Trailbreaker replied in an equally stunned tone. “At least Shockwave appears to be in stasis lock. Otherwise, we’d have even more problems to worry about.”

“You ain’t kidding.”

Meanwhile, Skywarp was about a mile out from his destination when his scanners detected the Autobots approaching Area 51 from the ground. He decided to take them all by surprise and strike them hard. Vanishing from sight, Skywarp quickly reappeared over the human compound, where he saw his leader carrying another Decepticon he knew all too well. Well, I’ll be a son of a slag. That’s what the humans had! ‘Warp thought as he came around into attack position.

“Hey Autobots! Time to die!!!” The seeker shouted, as he took aim at the group and unleashed a barrage of air-to-surface missiles. Megatron will reward me for this.

Smokescreen looked skyward. “Incoming!! Everyone take evasive action!” He was about to launch his own missiles as a counterattack until Trailbreaker stepped in.

“I’ve got this,” the black mech assured everyone, activating his force shield. It expanded quickly, protecting the entire team from Skywarp’s missiles. Each warhead struck the shield causing a series of explosions that never reached the Autobots beneath it. Once the attack was over and Skywarp had streaked by overhead, ‘Breaker lowered his shield.

Smokescreen walked over to the defensive strategist and placed a hand on his shoulder. “And you thought you wouldn’t be useful. Nice job, buddy!”

Up in the skies, Skywarp cursed his bad luck. Slaggit!! Now Megatron will think that I’m a failure. The teleporter was about to make another run on the Autobots below when he noticed Aftershot flying nearby. Perhaps the new Autobot flyer would make a better target. After all, Trailbreaker couldn’t extend his shield all the way up here.

Skywarp made his move and brought his weapons to bear. “Hey Aftershot! There’s only room for one of us in the skies, and that’s me! Let’s see what you got!” The black and purple seeker then opened fire on the Autobot flyer.

Outside Area 51

Arcee transformed and made a roll behind a large rock before Skywarps missles had hit Trailbreakers forcefield. She made a mental note to thank him for that before taking aim into the sky with her laser pistol. It wasn't the best weapon for ground to air combat, but it was all she had. Maybe Ratchet could hook her up with a new gun after this. She fired off a few shots, calculating the angle and velocity of skywarp into the shots firing path.

"Heh, you are right about that." Thundercracker smirked at Skywarp's comment about Runamuck's orbital bounce. "I have yet to see neither Runabout or Runamuck to do anything silently. I wonder who hardwired their circuitry."

"Too bad you seem to be right about that other issue too." He sighed in response to his friends comment made after Swindle bounced in - recalling the number of Decepticons Megatron had ordered to take part of this mission.

With Soundwave's orders reaching him, Thundercracker didn't waste any time on checking Runamuck's or Swindle's reaction to their new orders. Instead he launched himself to the air, transformed and soared after Skywarp recalling the Megatron's original mission briefing. >>"Keep the 'bots busy 'Warp, I'll destroy the bunker."<<

Outside Area 51

Thundercracker had been flying only few dozen meters apart from Skywarp when the teleporter decided to jump into action. However due to the short distance of Skywarp's teleport, it took only few seconds more for the blue seeker to reach the human military installation than his friend had won through teleportation.

Giving a quick warning signal for the Decepticons already on the area he had zoned in, Thundercracker let his engines to speak for himself, emitting an extremely powerful sonic boom to distract the Autobots his scanners had picked out from miles away. Of course, the same sonic boom caused a quick end to any resistance the remaining fleshling outside the base interior could have offered.

Seeing Megatron with his rather shocking cargo to leave the human compound behind with Soundwave and his minions trailing closely behind, Thundercracker locked his targeting computer to the hole Megatron had created earlier and fired two bunkerbusters into the open wound in the surface of the Area 51 in hopes of creating a chainreaction that would make the whole base to cave-in.

Outside Area 51

Aftershot cursed to himself when Skywarpmade his appearance. Knowing that air combat was likely unavoidable with the appearance of a Seeker, and the the likely chance more were to follow, he had knwo choice by the jettison his compliment of bombs. Now the only weapons he carried were a half dozen air-to-air missiles and his pair of laser cannons.

"Oh well now who am I to turn down an offer like that? I promise to when I tell the others about shooting you down to at least make it sound like you put up a fight Skywarp!"

Aftershot pulled up sharply and gave a powerful burst from his engines before cutting them, allowing him to turn faster and fall in behind and above the black and purple Seeker. As soon as his targeting reticules dropped over the fuselage of the 'Con Aftershot opened up with both of his laser cannons, firing them as fast as they could recharge. AS he poured a deadly stream of energy fire in the direction of Skywarphe dropped two of his missiles as they locked on and watched them race towards their target.

Inside Area 51

"Incoming!"

Bumblebee yelled his warning as soon as he spotted the rapidly approaching pair of missiles launched by Thundercracker and then ran for cover. He dived through the opening Megatron had blasted to get into the reinforced doors of the chamber. Wheeljack had no time to see if his efforts had worked to bring Grimlock back on line before he had to dive for cover. He jumped behind the heavily armoured body of Snarl seconds before the missiles hit, hoping the deactivated Dynobots armour would keep him safe.

Seconds later the powerful missiles struck, the entire facility shock violently as they detonated, ripping the entire place apart, sending debris into the air.

With Bumblebee and Wheeljack in the bunker the rest of the Bots had to take on Megatron, Soundwave and the two demented twins, Rumble and Frenzy. To Hot Rod’s surprise the Decepticons were severely outnumbered. With the Bots ready to fight Hot Rod took it upon himself to take on the con leader. The cavalier took off at top speed straight towards Megatron.

In a quick motion Hot Rod transformed and finished his run on his feet. His fist raised he headed right for the Decepticon’s face
.
“Erahhh! You’re mine Megatron!”

Hot Rod’s clenched fist made contact with Megatron’s faceplate only causing the Con’s head to turn slightly. The Autobot landed just behind Megatron. He quickly turned to the back of the Con ready for counter move.

Sideswipe flinched slightly at Skywarp’s missal drop. Thankfully Trailbreaker’s force field was able to hold and protect them. As soon as the shield was down Sideswipe noticed, not to mention heard, Thundercracker arrive. A smirk made its way to the twin’s face as he looked to his brother, and without a word Sideswipe engaged his jet pack and took off after the blue seeker.

Sideswipe flew as close to the Con as he could when he drew his weapon and opened fire.

Runamuck can see the explosions and laser-fire in the distance, as he rushes down the highway, "That must be where the party is."
A few human military vehicles are rushing toward the highway, eager to leave the area. Runamuck reveals his ram-plates and wrecks into the side of the jeep, flipping it repeatedly. "Last warm-up."
Not far off he notices the laser-fire coming from near a large rock, Runamuck has chose his first target.
"Always did like the pretty ones," as he blazes threw the desert.
Moments later he approaches and in the blink of an eye transforms and opens fire on Arcee with a few quick bursts from his friction rifle, "Hey toots wanna play a game of hide the piston?"

Outside Area 51

Arcee didn't have time to see if her shots had hit their mark before being rocked by the underground explosion from Thundercrackers missles. The ground beneath her collapsed from the explosion and her weight on it. She tried ducking from Runamucks friction blast as she fell, but is still caught her left shoulder. "Slag it!" she called out as she fell, firing at the ground beneath Runamuck in hopes of knocking him back at the very least, or better yet, dropping him down the hole with her.

Outside Area 51

With the battle underway, sparks were already flying hot! Thanks to Trailbreaker’s force field, Pipes paid no mind to Skywarp’s deadly missile attacks. However, it was when Thundercracker made his strike that he took notice. The sudden explosion of debris in the air interfered with his optical sensors and the violent shockwave resulting from the exploding missiles had the Autobot rather stunned, to say the least. Thankfully, he managed to maintain his balance, transforming into robot form. It was then that he saw the ground beginning to collapse under Arcee, and Runamuck firing shots off after her.

“Hang on, Arcee!” Pipes called out, running over as fast as his body could carry him. While he did, he let loose a few shots of covering fire at the Decepticon Battlecharger, hoping that it would be enough to throw his concentration. When he made it to the female Autobot’s position, he quickly made a grab for her hand to pull her up and out of danger.

“I’ve got you, now. Are you alright?” He asked.

Still following closely behind Runamuck, Swindle too could detect the signs of battle. From in the distance he could see Megatron rising into the air, carrying a rather large, cumbersome load. It looked to be like…

Shockwave?” He asked incredulously, “Here, on Earth? I’d always wondered what happened to him…”

However, the time for quiet musings was lost on him; a battle was being waged. Swindle drove in closer to the field, watching as Runamuck began his attack on a female Autobot. Turning his sights over all the terrain, he noticed as another fighter actually made a move upon Megatron! Inside his thought processor, he mused to himself about the ball bearings one would have to do such a thing. Though, he had his orders, and with Megatron watching, it would be best to look as though he was truly contributing.

With that, Swindle drove in closer towards his leader’s position, coming in behind for an attack on Hot Rod. Transforming into robot form, he drew out his gyro-gun and released his shoulder-mounted scatter blaster from its confines. Leveling his weapon in-hand at the Autobot, he fired several shots.

“Sorry about this, Autobot. Just remember, it’s nothing personal.”

Weapon: Energo-Sword
(OOC: The fight in this thread was agreed upon by both of the players of the characters prior to posting.)

Area 51

Megatron deposited Shockwave’s inert form on the ground near the hold he had made. The Decepticon commander, while not the brilliant technician or engineer that Wheeljack, Ratchet and the like were, he was capable of doing some repairs. At this point he had neither the time nor the equipment to attempt to reactivate the other Decepticon. He had survived for this long deactivated on this planet. He would just have to survive a little longer.

The Decepticon landed on the ground next to Shockwave and faced the incoming Autobots. A smile spread over his face as he saw who was leading the charge. “Prime.” The Autobot commander himself had arrived, just as he knew he would. Both sides would take a breach of infiltration this seriously.

It had been a very long time since the two faction leaders had met on the battlefield. Often they were both more preoccupied with the grand strategy of the war; the fates of entire worlds were their concern. They did not have time for such minor actions as this infiltration and single combat. This opportunity would be one he would relish. It had been too long since he had a real challenge on the battlefield. Still, he had to keep in mind the greater mission. He could only indulge himself so much here. Shockwave and the Dinobots were too valuable for him to squander on some small bit of self satisfaction. Still, he would enjoy this as long as it lasted.

The Decepticon leader was leveling his fusion cannon at the center of the Autobot formation when he noticed one of them separating from the pack. It wasn’t Prime and was therefore beneath his notice except for the fact that it was charging at him specifically. He lowered his cannon. He would see what this Autobot was capable of.

Hot Rod transformed and lunged at Megatron, his fist striking him in the face. The blow sent his head turning with the strike but had little other effect. The Autobot landed behind him in some sort of acrobatic move. Megatron was not impressed.

The former gladiator quickly whirled around, his natural warrior instincts taking over. He struck Hot Rod in the face with a backhanded blow from his right fist, the attack staggering the Autobot. The blasts from Swindle then struck Megatron but had little effect. The Decepticon looked up to send an icy glare at the other Decepticon. Fire discipline was going to have to be another lesson taught to his troops.

The cavalier launched a roundhouse kick at Megatron, but the Decepticon, despite his massive bulk, was faster. He caught his foot in mid strike with his left hand. Megatron pivoted towards the Autobot, still clutching his upraised leg and slammed his right elbow down on his knee joint. Armor crumpled and tore and his internal skeleton snapped at the point of the blow.

Hot Rod howled in pain as Megatron released his leg, the lower half of which held on by only a few cables and wires. Hot Rod, fighting through the pain as best he could, threw another wild swing at the Decepticon. It was a weak attack and Megatron caught the blow easily with his left hand. The Autobot was brave, he would give him that. He had nothing else though. Megatron brought his armored cranium smashing down on the Autobots face in a brutal headbutt. His face plat and optics cracked and began flickering.

With the Autobot now crippled Megatron moved in for the finishing blow. He released his arm and seized his neck with his left hand, effortlessly lifting him into the air. He struck him in the torso with his right hand. He gazed into the broke blue optics of the young Autobot and said only one word. “Insect.” With that said, Megatron fired his fusion cannon. At point blank range the weapon cut through Hot Rod like he wasn’t even there, leaving a gaping hole in his lower torso.

Megatron discarded the Autobot like the scrap his was, flinging him off to the side. If he survived then he would live to tell how he had been so easily defeated. If he died then it was one less obstacle in the path of the Decepticons. Either way the Autobots would be torn over the plight of their comrade. It was just another advantage to be exploited.

He had enough of the preliminaries though. There was little satisfaction in terminating a weakling. There was only one worthy challenger among these Autobots. Megatron turned and stalked towards Optimus Prime. Anything that got in his way would befall the same fate as Hot Rod.

Hot Rod smirked as he landed behind the Slagmaker. He was full of confidence and knew he was faster and more agile than the bulker, older Megatron. The cavalier was in for a surprise when Megatron turned and landed the back of his clenched fist against Hot Rod’s face. He staggered from the force of the strike; however, he caught himself and attempted a roundhouse kick to the Decepticon’s head. He was stunned when his leg was caught and then slammed into by the gladiator’s elbow.

“Aaaaaaghhhh!”

The cry of pain carried throughout the area. Hot Rod scowled as he attempted to strike Megatron again, and his fist was caught. He looked on in near shock as Megatron’s head collided with his faceplate. A look of dread crept onto Hot Rod’s cracked and battered faceplate as his neck was forcibly snagged in Megatron’s left hand. The fire encrusted Autobot attempted in vain to pry Megatron’s hand free when he was struck in the lower torso with the Decepticon commander’s right fist.

“Gahh.”

The prone Autobot could only whimper one word as Megatron stared into his azure optics.

“No…”

Before he could say anything else, Megatron uttered his final word and fired his fusion cannon into Hot Rod’s already broken body. A gush of energon and mech fluid spilled onto Megatron’s hand before he pulled free to toss Hot Rod to the side. The now shattered body of the cavalier landed in a heap on the ground some yards away from his would be destructor. His optics flickered faintly as an abundant amount of mech fluid pooled on the ground under him. He attempted to talk, but only a bubbling mass of internal energon was expelled. When vocalizing failed he tried to lift his body but could not move. He lay there for what seemed like an eternity staring into the sky.

He tried desperately to stay online, but every system began to shut down even as he attempted to override the protocols. He tried once more to vocalize but could only cough up more fluid, and before he knew it he had slipped into stasis lock.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Across the battlefield Optimus Prime staggered as Thundercracker made his presence known. The Autobot commander caught himself but was shocked to see one of his team break formation and make a run on Megatron himself. He wasn’t surprised when he finally noticed who was making the attempt, but Prime knew that Hot Rod didn’t stand a chance. As Megatron took control of the attack, Prime could only watch as Hot Rod was battered and then beaten when Megatron’s fusion cannon cut a hole into the warrior like a tin can. With a raised hand Prime called out in vain.

“Megatron, no!”

Optimus Prime’s optics shone bright as he lowered his weapon and began running towards Megatron. He’d Make sure Hot Rod’s death was not in vein and if he could end this war by ending Megtron’s existence, then so be it.

Runamuck, momentarily distracted by the spectacle of Megatron blasting Hot Rod, doesn't pay any attention to she shots Arcee or Pipes fired until it was too late. Just in time he keeps sliding into the hole in the earth along with Arcee, only to be shot in the front left shoulder by Pipes. "Takes more than that to take down a Battle Charger!" He returns fire at Pipes and Arcee.

======================================================================

This was not boring. This was actually a fun change of pace for the restless Decepticon. Runabout speed toward the battlefield, he observes the situation. "Shockwave?" Shocked at the presence of the long unseen Decepticon. He sees Pipes running, as he spots Trailbreaker and moves in. He makes wide circles around the Autobot, firing his vehicle mode weapons, ramming gear exposed. "Time to take a break autobug," he taunts his opponent before lining up for a charge. Guns blazing, engine roaring, he speeds toward Trailbreaker.

Smokescreen secured his footing as Thundercracker’s missiles ripped through the underground portions of the human base. The first thing that entered his mind was not his own safety, but Bumblebee and Wheeljack, who were both down inside the facility when the explosions went off. He wanted to leap in and help them, but then Arcee fell under attack by Runamuck at the same time that the ground around her began to cave in. Pipes was the first one there to grab her, but Runamuck was still a problem.

Smokescreen made his move and quickly transformed to his Nissan 350z alt mode and then raced towards the battle charger. “Hey, Runamuck! Choke on this!” As Smokey zoomed passed the Decepticon, the diversion expert unleashed a thick cloud of magnetized smoke from his tail pipe. He then turned and circled the white mech twice, which allowed the smoke to engulf the battle charger. Hopefully, this would keep Runamuck busy long enough for Pipes and Arcee to get to safety.

Smokescreen then broke off his attack and went to offer aide to his comrades. “Pipes, Arcee, are you guys okay? Can I help?” Smokey asked, reverting back to robot mode. Just then he heard the distinctive sound of Megatron’s fusion cannon. It was unmistakable. Smokescreen looked up and saw Hot Rod’s limp form being tossed aside by the Decepticon leader. “Oh, no! Hot Rod!”

Smokescreen was about to run to the cavalier’s side, when Trailbreaker stopped him. “No, Smokey. Stay with Arcee and Pipes. I’ll see what I can do for Hot Rod.” And with that, Trailbreaker ran for Hot Rod’s position.

Unfortunately, Trailbreaker didn’t make it very far as he found himself under fire from Runabout. The ‘con was driving circles around him, yelling juvenile taunts as he went. “Who are you calling an Autobug?” ‘Breaker said, avoiding several of his opponent’s shots with ease. One laser ricocheted off Trailbreaker’s left shoulder, causing little damage. “Ow! Okay, that’s it! Try ramming these, Decepticon,” the defensive strategist said as he raised his right arm and launched two highly explosive missiles from his wrist sockets. Both were heading straight for Runabout.

Area 51

"Thanks Pipes! Now it's time to give that slag heap a taste of his own medicine!" Arcee said as Smokescreen was busy enveloping Runamuck. She turned her feet to skate mode and raced towards the distracted con, taking advantage of the smoke to catch him off guard and to dodge his incoming fire. Her left arm burned from his hit on her, but she knew friction was caused by kinetic energy, and kinetic energy liked to travel. As she reached the smokescreen, she ducked low, sticking one foot out infront of her to trip Runamuck, while bringing her burning arm up to grab him, and her good arm down lower, firing blasts from her laser pistol into what she hoped would be the weakpoint in his armjoint.

Weapon: Energo-Sword
The Past

Grimlock took one agonizing step after another. He could see him standing in front of him, his single eye glowing. Even without a face Grimlock could tell that Shockwave was mocking him, mocking him for not being prepared, for being beaten again, for being outsmarted by the most intelligent Transformer in existence. He couldn’t hear him but he knew that’s what he must be saying.

Another step.

He would show the smug Decepticon. If he could just get to him he’d tear out that single glowing eye. He’d make a decoration out of it, maybe a necklace. It would serve as a reminder to everyone that no one defeated the Dinobots and lived. No one humiliated them and got away; they’d be hunted down and gutted. The Dinobots were the toughest unit on either side. No walking calculator would beat them.

The Dinobot lifted his left leg for another step but it locked up on him. He could feel his systems shutting down. The energon radiation that was all over the planet was too much for him. He stretched out his right arm, reach for Shockwave. If he could just get one hand on him he could end it. His arm froze up. All that was left now were his optics and they quickly began flickering. He had been prepared for this, as unlikely as it had seemed. No one beat the Dinobots, no one beat him. He would make sure of that even if it killed him. He just wished he could be there to see it happen.

Area 51 – The Present

Energon surged back into Grimlock’s systems. It took a few seconds for it to work completely through his body and for systems to reactivate. His visor flickered back to life and his outstretched hand clenched into a fist.

“Arrrgggghhhhh.”

His vocalizer had little time to activate before two missiles detonated in the bunker. The explosion ripped through the massive chamber. Girders, steel plates and equipment were torn a part and sent raining down on anyone and everyone inside. The entire place shook with the force of the blast but did not collapse. Built to withstand a head on nuclear blast it would take more than a couple of conventional missiles to bring it down. The interior was wrecked however.

The blast flung the newly awakened Dinobot hurling into one of the chamber walls. He then fell to the ground and was quickly buried in debris. Once the last of the wreckage had fallen The Dinobot commander began clawing his way out, quickly surfacing. “Hnnnn.” He did a cursory look around, not seeing anything but wreckage in the now darkened chamber. He glanced up at the hole in the ceiling, the opening still fairly intact. While he didn’t know what was going on or where Shockwave was, he knew there was a fight going on up there and someone had just taken a shot at him. Now it was time to return the favor.

Grimlock climbed up on the largest pile of wreckage he could find. He drew his sword and made a leap at the mouth of the opening. He was barely able to jab his sword inside of the opening. With that hold secured he pulled himself up into it. Using his own brute strength and sword to create foot and hand holds the Autobot began making his way up to the surface.

*******

Soundwave had observed the two Autobots, Wheeljack and Bumblebee, leaping into the hole Megatron and he had just left through. He also saw Thundercracker deploy two missiles down into the bunker. With the majority of the Autobots and Decepticons already engaged in battle Soundwave wanted to be sure that the Autobots had been terminated. Megatron already had a failsafe plan in case events turned rapidly in the Autobots favor but even that plan would be strained if they were able to produce multiple reinforcements in the form of reactivated Dinobots.

The Communications officer leapt back down into the bunker, controlling his fall with his flight capabilities. He noted with concern the Dinobot Grimlock clawing his way up but quickly moved past him. Grimlock had nod desire to go back down the hole to fight one Decepticon, not after the effort it was taking to climb out, and so he continued up.

The Decepticon landed, bits of scrap metal crunching beneath his giant feet. If the formerly deactivated Dinobot had survived then there was a good probability the other Autobots had as well. They must not be allowed to reactivate more Dinobots.

“Ravage, eject. Operation: Search and Destroy.”

Ravage shot out of Soundwave’s chest, quickly transforming into his jaguar form. He quickly began examining the area, hunting for the Autobots buried or hiding beneath the debris. Soundwave produced his concussion blaster and began his own scans. Wherever the Autobots were they would not remain hidden for long.

*******

Rumble and Frenzy staggered under the ground shaking force of Thundercracker’s sonic boom followed by his underground missile detonations. Rumble shook his fist up at the Seeker. “That’s my gimmick ya stupid piece a scrap! I’m gonna give you an aftkicking like you’d never believe when you come down from there!”

Frenzy glanced back just in time to see Soundwave disappear into the bunker. “It doesn’t matter anyway man. I just saw Soundwave head down into that bunker and unless you wanna dig him out of there later no earthquakes today.”

Rumble threw up his arms in annoyance. “So what are we supposed to do then?”

Frenzy pointed at Pipes. “I say we take out shorty.”

“I guess he’s the only one left then,” replied Rumble, both of them ignoring the fact that the minibot was still twice as tall as either of them. “You go high and I go low?”

“Sounds good to me.”

The two cassetticons ran over towards Pipes and lunged at him. Rumble aimed for his knees and Frenzy lunged at his chest and head.

*******

Astrotrain dropped through the atmosphere like a brick. He sighed to himself. It was the nature of this Earth creature’s spacecraft to reenter the atmosphere in this way. They didn’t have the sophistication of Cybertronian spacecraft. Those would cut through the atmosphere with their sleek and streamlined forms and rapidly begin flying across the planet to their destination. They way they used spacecraft was to simply drop them down in the right place in a practically unpowered landing. It was pathetic really. Fortunately he was only mimicking the first part of their landing procedure. Once he was through the atmosphere he could fly under power.

There was a loud sonic boom as the triplechanger finally cleared the atmosphere. His powerful engines flared to live and he rocketed across the sky, swooping down to join the rest of the Decepticons. He saw the two seekers already engaged in aerial battles, something he wasn’t really interested in or built for. The same went for providing ground support from the area. No, it was finally time to get his hands dirty in some nice, up close combat.

With one pass over the battlefield Astrotrain picked out his target. He came about for another pass, this time gliding low over the ground, almost scraping it. He rapidly transformed into his train mode, maintaining a good portion of his speed and momentum. He quickly charged at the Autobot Smokescreen, transforming at the last minute to his robot mode and hurtling at him, right fist raised to smashing into him.

*******

Sunstreaker transformed and glared up at Sideswipe as the other Autobot rocketed up into the sky on his jetpack. The little punk was way too pleased at himself and his little gadget. Next time before they went into battle he was going to make sure he stole it so he could use it himself. Of course he’d have to get it painted yellow so it wouldn’t clash, but that wasn’t a big deal. If Sideswipe could use it in battle then he knew that he would practically be an expert with it. His brother was still a rookie compared to him.

The warrior looked back at the battlefield just in time to see Megatron gut Hot Rod in brutal fashion. Sunstreaker wasn’t really surprised. The other Autobot had a reckless streak in him a mile wide. Some Autobots accused Sunstreaker of being arrogant, cocky and a jerk, but he definitely wasn’t stupid. If your name didn’t end in ‘Prime’ then charging at Megatron was pretty much suicide, and even then the Decepticon leader had made a reputation on killing Primes. They would just have to see if Hot Rod would live to learn that lesson.

A quick glance around showed that most of the Autobots and Decepticons were already locked in combat with each other. He wasn’t about to team up with anyone else. He could only tolerate fighting alongside Sideswipe, and that was just barely. All of the rest of them would just get in his way. That left him with fighting Swindle, a C-list opponent if ever there was one. He would just have to waste him quickly and move on to someone else, probably pick up after where some other Autobot had fallen.

Sunstreaker charged ahead, opening fire on Swindle with his electron-pulse rifle. “Come on Swindle, lets see if you can use those guns have as good as you peddle them!” He dived and rolled up behind one of the human buildings and continued firing from around the corner. He’d rather just take down this chump without scratching up his paint job from any near hits from whatever weird weapons he might be using.

Thundercracker didn't have much time to check whether his missiles had done their job as Sideswipe decided attack him. And in his element none the less. Such an attack would have been an insult against any seeker, let alone to Starscream's aerial elite. From Thundercracker's point of view he could have as well hit the highway in his F-22 Raptor mode in an attempt to give a chase to Sideswipe. A disaster.

Unlike the likes of Ramjet, Thundercracker kept his sensors on alert. He had registered Sideswipe's launch to air early enough to be able to prepare for his oncoming assault. Flipping slighty to avoid being hit, Thundercracker made a turn no human made jetfighter could do and rotated 180 degrees around his own axis while still moving to his original direction close to speed of sound thus still increasing the distance between him and the slower moving Autobot. Now, facing his pursuer, Thundercracker opened fire with his lasercannons towards Sideswipe and locked one of his drone controlled rockets on Sideswipe. "Send my greetings to your brother."

"Time for a payback." With that said, the intelligent rocket was launched at its target. Were it to somehow miss the headon collision with Sideswipe, the missile would still be able to track its original target without being distracted by heat-emitting sources as the issue was with Skywarp's heatseekers. It either had to be outsmarted or evaded until it run out of fuel and even so, Thundercracker could detonate it remotely.

Pipes weathered through Runamuck’s attack, wincing from the shots fired on him. He didn’t want to make any sudden movements, lest he endangered Arcee, but thankfully Smokescreen and Trailbreaker both came to their aid. With that, he was glad to see the female Autobot back on her feet and rushing to face the enemy.

“Thanks for your help there, Smokescreen, I really-“ Pipes stopped however when he heard a large, echoing sound. His focus turned to see Hot Rod stricken down by Megatron’s fusion cannon, the young Autobot falling. Naturally, his first instinct was to help him, as anyone else would, but he never had a chance to finish his
thought.

Before he realized what had happened, two forms struck from out nowhere and assaulted Pipes. Frenzy had grappled the Autobot from behind his head and shoulders, while Rumble struck at his lower back. The blow caused him to topple face first, plummeting to the dirt with his two Decepticon combatants still on him.

“Where’d you come from? Get off of me!” Pipes snarled, struggling to grab Frenzy from off his back and toss him aside with his great strength.

Meanwhile, Swindle had tried to discretely move off to the side after his accidental attack on Megatron. He was sure that he would be reprimanded, more than likely with menial labor if not physical punishment, which was preferable in the long run. However, as he tried to move behind cover of a rock face, he was met with a volley of Autobot fire. He could feel the electrical bursts hit his free shoulder and chest, then looked to see Sunstreaker firing upon him from behind a human building.

“Well, slag.” Swindle quickly sprinted off to dodge the continuing fire. Running a quick diagnostic of his weapons systems, he was pleased to see that his major implement was undamaged, loaded and ready to fire. Holding his ground, he raised his shoulder-mounted scatter blaster and took aim at Sunstreaker. However, he then switched his focus to the house he hid behind and the patch of dirt to his side. Firing two pellets of energy buckshot, it was hope the resulting attacks would greatly encumber the Autobot.

“Call me a peddler, will you? Now that’s just rude.” He said to himself through gritted teeth.

Area 51 Bunker

"Oh my achin' processor."

Wheeljack rubbed the top of his head as he sat up. Dust filled the air and was slowly starting to settle once the debris from the missile blasts had stopped falling. The Autobot engineer was actually surprised how well the human built bunker had held up to the missile strike. He had honestly not thought it was possible for the humans to be capable of building a structure capable of withstanding a direct strike from a Cybertronian bunker buster. He had expected this entire bunker to be ruble and for himself to be dead. As it were Wheeljack had a large portion of the steel girders that were once on the ceiling of the bunker now collapsed over him. Though he had enough room to stand up and move around it was going to take some work to get out.

He began to wonder what he could do to get out, he figured a well placed explosive charge would get him out no problem. However, he wasn't sure how well the bunkers structural integrity had held up from the blast and he was worried a blast could cause a further collapse of debris. He needed a better solution and it was possible he had a solution sitting right in front of him. The force of the blast had only done enough to move Snarl's stasis locked body grind a few inches across the floor and he was still in top shape. Although he wasn't aware that his efforts had already awoken Grimlock, Wheeljack figured he had best give them a shot at bringing the other Dinobot on line.

Wheeljack knelt next to Snarl and exmained his strange alternate mode, finding the humans had done little work on him. Opening up Snarl's cranial plate, Wheeljack found only a few systems out of line and were easily corrected, next he used his tools to purge the built up energon radiation from the large Dinobots systems. With the repairs and purging done all that was left was to inject some fresh energon into Snarl's fuel system and let it work its way through his body and reactivate him. It took Wheeljack nearly a bream to find the port, this odd beast mode was something that both interested and confused the engineer, but once he found the fuel port he injected a full tank of reserve energon into it, hoping it would bring him on line quicker. With that done all the engineer could do was to wait for Snarl to come back on line, explain what was going on and hope the powerful Dinobot would punch a hole for the two of them to get out of their debris imposed prison.

Less then half a bream had passed before Wheeljack heard someone land and move around on the debris above him. He thought it might be Bumblebee, but changed his mind when he noticed the individuals heavy foot falls caused a section of the debris to fall away, letting a small beam of sunlight to trickle in. Wheeljack realized a small explosive could blast a big enough hole for him to get out of, and he didn't need Snarl's strength after all, though he was sure the others could. The engineer produced one of his explosive shells and removed its warhead, and then opened up his tool kit and quickly broke apart the rest of the shells casing. He then rebuilt the shell into a timed charge with greatly reduced explosive power and placed it near the small breach in the debris canopy.

Wheeljack got clear of the area and a few astroseconds later the charge went off, bursting a hole in his prison that was big enough to let him out. He quickly scrambled forward and hauled the upper part of his body out.

"Hey thanks for coming down here to check on us!" He began to say to his potential rescuer as he carefully began to pull himself out of the hole. Then he looked up at the other mech for the first time and he was sure he felt his Spark flicker for an astrosecond as he and Soundwave looked optic to optic. "Oh frag."

* * *

Bumblebee had faired far better then Wheeljack from the impact of the missile blasts, the worst he got was a slight ringing in his audio receptors. Once he was certain the worst of it was over the minibot picked himself up and moved back to the destroyed door he had dived through a bream before to avoid being caught in the blast from Thundercracker's missiles. There was some debris in the way that Bumblebee had to clear away. It wasn't to heavy, just awkward to move, but after a bream or two of work he managed to get it all cleared. He stepped through the blasted door, laser pistol in hand just in case anyone unfriendly had wandered down into the bunker after the missile strike.

"Wheeljack? You still in here?"

There was silence as Bumblebee scanned the bunker, not seeing anyone. Then he heard Wheeljack curse and the minibot looked to the far side of the ruined bunker to see Soundwave standing over the engineer, who was half out of a hole cut in the debris.

Reacting quickly Bumblebee brought up his pistol and snapped off a few quick shots in the direction of the purple Decepticon and then ducked down behind some cover. He then popped up far enough to fire a few more shots at Soundwave before ducking down again.

Racing threw the dissipating smoke and leaking a little fluid, Runamuck spots Pipes grappling the casseticons. Runamuck doesn't sit and fight one opponent. Thats not his job, he is for fast, disruptive, attacks. Wasting no time on this opportunity Runamuck barrels down upon him, ramplates exposed ready to smash into the downed Autobot.

As the twin missiles are racing toward him, Runabout targets them with his vehicle modes armaments and fires. He knows he's about to take damage and he might as well take advantage of it. Milliseconds before the explosions he transforms, absorbing the damage from the explosion and using it to propel himself high into the air. "Death from above it is then, vile Autobot scum!"
Runabout fires a few powerful shots at Trailbreaker, before transforming back to vehicle mode, diving at the black mech. Bracing himself for impact, Runabout is amused at the havoc he has begun.

(OOC: This post has been agreed upon by both me and Smokescreen over PM. If need be he can confirm it for me.)

Skywarp was taken by surprise by Aftershot’s sudden maneuver, and it didn’t occur to him just what happened until he felt some of the Autobot’s lasers rip into his fuselage. Since Aftershot was firing wildly most of his shots missed the Seeker, but Skywarp’s battle computer screamed at him that two deadly missiles were locked onto him and homing in quickly. However, the veteran Decepticon flier had been in situations like this before.

“Amateur.” He said with disgusts as he suddenly angled his nose down and dove quickly and rapidly towards the devastated remains of Area 51.

Skywarp’s engines screamed as he kicked them into high speed, Aftershot was close behind him, his missiles rapidly closing on the Seeker. The black and purple jet was diving right for one of the few remaining buildings still intact, and when it seemed like he was about to ram it he pulled up suddenly. The missiles lost their lock on Skywarp, but picked up the building right away. They slammed into the building, exploding on impact, shredding the structure in a massive explosion.

Aftershot roared in frustration at Skywarp’s mocking laughter as he pulled up to pursue his target. His lasers were hammering away, but Warp was using evasive maneuvers and was only clipped here and there. Suddenly the seeker transformed and turned to face the Autobot, a wicked smile on his face, his arm mounted lasers raised at Aftershot began to open fire. Taken by surprise Aftershot’s fuselage was suddenly racked by the opening salvo that burned holes into his armoured frame on his nose. Spinning to the right and twisting upside down the Autobot flier managed to dodge out of the line of fire.

Aftershot then slammed his engines into full power and was aimed right at the Seeker. He suddenly transformed into robot mode, using the momentum generated by his engines to propel himself forward. His arms were outstretched as he attempted to grapple Skywarp, but the Seeker easily managed to avoid the attack, and Aftershot had to transform back into his alternate form so he could once more fly.

“Oh come on! Is that the best you can do?”

Skywarp laughed as he transformed back to his F-22 form and began to chase Aftershot, his lasers blazing away as he followed the Autobot down low, close to the ground. His prey entered a narrow canyon, barely wide enough to accommodate the wingspan of both Transformers. Unable to move to avoid fire Skywarp was certain he now had the Autobot dead to rights and with a growing feeling of satisfaction dropped his sights over the aft end of Aftershot.

“This wasn’t even sporting!”

Skywarp hollowed at his target, but before he could open fire Aftershot pulled up sharply revealing that the canyon ended abruptly and in order to avoid a fatal crash into the solid rock wall he had to pull up sharply as well. However, given that he was taken by surprise he could not easily clear it and his aft end hit the top of the wall. The seeker was sent tumbling through the air and struck the ground flipping end over end and eventually came to a skidding halt.

“Well that was a fun distraction.” Aftershot said as he quickly left the crashed Skywarp behind and head back towards the battle. “Aftershot to Autobot ground forces. I have taken care of Skywarp, at least temporarily and I am now free to provide air support.”

Skywarp thought he had Aftershot for sure. The Autobot flyer was directly ahead in the narrow canyon and 'Warp had missile lock on him. But then, without warning, Aftershot suddenly pulled up, revealing the rock wall directly ahead. The seeker had been paying too much attention to his Autobot quarry and not enough to what lay further ahead. Had he done so, ‘Warp would’ve realized that the canyon was coming to an abrupt end.

Skywarp tried to follow suit and pull up, as well, but he met with less success than Aftershot. He managed to avoid a direct collision with the canyon wall, but he was also unable to completely clear it. His aft section struck the top of the rock wall, causing him to crash land, tumbling end over end until he finally skidded to a stop.

Skywarp transformed to robot mode and let out a sigh. He watched as Aftershot flew away back towards the battle at Area 51. He had underestimated the Autobot flyer and had been tricked into that narrow canyon. It was a mistake the teleporter would not make again.

Skywarp got to his feet and brushed himself off. The gritty desert sand had gotten into almost every crevice of his metal frame. “How do these flesh sacks live on this world?” He said to himself. He had minor laser burns and several dents across his body from the crash, but nothing that would keep him grounded. The only thing truly damaged was his ego. He was one of Starscream’s elite seekers and he let a puny Autobot jet beat him. The more he thought about it, the more it made him angry. “That Autobot shall pay for this disgrace.”

And with that thought clearly on his mind, Skywarp transformed back to jet mode and blasted off towards Area 51.

Outside Area 51

Smokescreen was about to help Arcee when he noticed a purple train coming right at him. “Gee, I wonder who that could be,” he said, sarcastically. But, before Smokey had a chance to raise his weapon, Astrotrain quickly transformed to robot mode. His right fist was raised up and aimed directly at the red and blue Autobot.

Without much time to react, Smokescreen managed to throw his hands up to protect himself, but it didn’t do much good. Astrotrain’s fist struck the diversion expert directly in the chest, sending him flying backwards and landing hard on his aft. Smokey skidded across the desert floor and finally came to rest against a large boulder. “Arrrrrr…OW! That fraggin’ hurt!” Smokescreen shouted as he looked down at his chest plate and saw a large dent right across his Autobot symbol. “Slaggit!”

Smokescreen then looked back up at Astrotrain. The Decepticon was larger and much stronger then the diversionary tactician. It would be unwise to engage in direct hand-to-hand combat with him. Smokey would have to rely on his weaponry and wits to survive this battle. However, he couldn’t use his missiles, because they were meant for a ground-to-air attack. Unless, of course, he could get the Decepticon into the air again, then his missiles would come in handy. Until then, he’d have to rely on other means of defense.

Smokescreen hurriedly scanned the area for his rifle, which had flown out of his hand when Astrotrain punched him. He soon located it nearby and quickly dove for it. Grabbing the rifle up in his hand, Smokey spun around and fired off several shots at the triplechanger, allowing him enough time to take cover behind the same large boulder that had previously stopped his skid.

*******

Meanwhile, Trailbreaker had problems of his own. Somehow, Runabout had managed to go airborne and was now diving directly down at the defensive stategist, while in vehicle mode! “Well now, that’s something you don’t see every day. A flying car!” The Autobot managed to dodge two of the laser blasts that Runabout had fired, but was unable to avoid the third as it struck him in the left shoulder. The damage was minimal but still hurt nonetheless.

Trailbreaker then quickly ducked down and dove forward in an attempt to avoid Runabout, himself. However, as the black battle charger passed just overhead, ‘Breaker felt the Decepticon’s undercarriage scrape against his back, causing even more pain.

Trailbreaker hit the ground face first. Picking himself up, he felt the burning down his back from where metal had grated against metal. He then turned to face Runabout, who was surely readying his next attack.

Soundwave could hear it. Amongst all Transformers his audio sensors were likely the most sensitive. When he was trying to listen for something he would hear it. What he heard now was the beating of a fuel pump, the movement of servos and joints and the shifting of debris. Someone was moving around beneath the pile of wreckage. The Decepticon took a few steps forward, stopping next to the source of the sounds. There was definitely an Autobot moving around down there, but now he could hear another one becoming active. Another Dinobot was coming online.

>>”Lord Megatron, Dinobots being reactivated. Grimlock climbing to the surface now. Reinforcements may be required.”<<

The chamber and debris pile beneath Soundwave shook with a small explosion. The communications expert shifted a bit, moving to keep his balance and avoid falling into the opening that formed in the wreckage in front of him. He cautiously peered down into the hole only to see the Autobot inventor Wheeljack pulling himself out. For a brief moment Decepticon and Autobot looked each other right in the optics. Then the Decepticon lashed out with his foot, swinging a kick at the Autobot’s head.

The Decepticon was leveling his gun at the Autobot to finish the job when Bumblebee opened fire on him. He dived for cover behind another pile of debris. He didn’t particularly like the idea of being outnumbered down here. Of course, Soundwave was never outnumbered, not with all of his minions. “Ravage!”

The cassetticon had been stalking from the shadows, looking for Autobots. When Bumblebee had emerged he made his way towards him, moving carefully and silently in the darkened chamber. Once Soundwave gave the order he leapt into the air, claws and fangs aimed at the mini-bot.

*******

Megatron smiled as he saw the reaction of the ‘great’ Autobot leader from crushing his lackey. It was the greatest difference between the two leaders. Megatron saw his Decepticons, and everyone else, as pawns to be used, protected or expended as he saw fit. They lived and died only for his advancement and the advancement of the Decepticon cause. No one was greater than he.

Prime, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. He lived and died for his precious soldiers. He would take any shot, any blow, to spare them the pain and sacrifice. It was a foolish way to wage a war and it was why he would lose. Still the Decepticon leader held him in some esteem. Despite those mental deficiencies had had managed to last far longer than any of his predecessors in this war. He was not a weakling by any means and not one Megatron would underestimate.

As the two leaders closed in on each other Megatron received the message from Soundwave. The Dinobots would prove troublesome in this battle, especially since he had been hoping to take them prisoner. That didn’t look like it was going to happen. A pity that, they could have proven useful. Of course, Megatron was prepared for the appearance of Autobot reinforcements. Megatron was always prepared.

>>”Megatron to Thanatos, jump to my coordinates immediately and be prepared for immediate combat.”<<

As he sent the signal the Decepticon leader leveled his fusion cannon at Optimus Prime. He had little doubt that he would somehow dodge the blast. They had played that game many times before. He did it to set the tone of the battle, to make sure he was in control. Of course, he wouldn’t be sad if he happened to score a lucky hit and eliminate Prime. It would perhaps be anti-climatic, but worth it.

Runabout lands hard on his front undercarriage, bouncing back up from the impact. Thats when he saw her. A cute pink and white number chasing after Runamuck.
"Slag ya later Autobot." Runabout taunts, trying to disengage Trailbreaker as he speeds away, racing threw the dusty terrain toward Arcee.

<< 'Muck why didn't you say something?>> Runabout says to Runamuck.
<< Maybe if i knew you were around.>> Runamuck Replies.

Runabout anticipates his every move as he starts his approach on the fem-bot. Relishing in sweet delight as hes moments away from opening fire on her with his vehicle guns blazing. Runamuck continues on his journey toward the fallen Autobot Pipes, but his journey will have to make a quick stop first.

<< Just like old times, eh?>> Runabout jokes to Runamuck
<< Just like 'em.>> Runamuck smirks back.
<< On your move...>> Runabout signals to Runamuck.

In a coordinated attack Runamuck slightly slows, letting Arcee close the gap between them to about 5 feet, positing her directly behind him before slamming on his breaks. Simultaneously Runabout speeds to catch her from behind, attempting to smash her between the Battle Charger duo.

Sideswipe gained altitude after he had fired on Thundercracker. He smirked as the Decepticon seeker moved to avoid his shots. The smile faded once he saw the blue F22 pull off an amazing maneuver and wound up in front of the crimson warrior headed right for him. Sideswipe deftly avoided the laser fire, but he had no chance with the drone missile. In order to not become one with the Matrix, the red twin shot straight up into the air and came down in an arch so that he was now in front of the drone.

“Man, this was not one of my brightest ideas.”

He engaged the boosters speed and made way for the battlefield. “Here goes nothing.” With his speed accelerating Sideswipe made way for a building head on. At the last possible moment he pulled his weapon and fired a hole right in line with his position. He made way through the first few rooms and then shot out through the back of the building. His hopes were to lose the drone in the building’s mass of walls and obstacles.

Thanatos

Razorclaw sat silently at the helm of the warship waiting for the call to action form the Decepticon commander himself. His crew was growing restless, but he remained patient. Rampage kept a watchful optic on the satellites the humans had floating around their pathetic little planet. Razorclaw growled quietly.

No sooner had the team settled in that they received an incoming message from their lord.

>>”Megatron to Thanatos, jump to my coordinates immediately and be prepared for immediate combat.”<<

The Predacon commander rose form his seat and addressed his crew.

"Predacons, we are wanted in battle. Move to the transporter room and bounce on my mark." Each one of his team swiftly made their way from the bridge of the warship to the transporter room. They all took their places and bounced together to the surface of the organic world.

Area 51

In a flash of brilliant light the Predacons made their way onto the battlefield. After only seconds Razorclaw drew his sword and made way into the fray. Only one thing could make the battle worth while and that would be if the Dinobot commander, Grimlock where present. But slaughtering Autobots was worth the absence.

Area 51

Prime grew angrier with every step he took toward his opposite. The Decepticons knew nothing of compassion or even freedom. Megatron had no regards for anyone except himself and what he thought the Decepticons should be. His thoughts on freedom for the masses meant that only he should rule and no one was higher than he. This angered the Autobot commander to no end. He had a need to make it known that there are others who matter, not just Megatron himself.

Once the Decepticon lord fired his fusion cannon, Prime simply dodged the fire easily and continued on toward Megatron. With his arms spread wide and large lunge forward, Optimus attempted a tackle with the Slagmaker. Once down Prime could easily pin him and possibly end this battle., maybe even the war.

Frenzy clung to Pipes’ head, trying to punch the Autobot in the face. It wasn’t easy since the minibot was doing his best to grab a hold of him. It wasn’t until the Autobot finally locked his hand onto his right leg in what felt like an unbreakable grip did it occur to him that this short Autobot wasn’t going to be as easy to take down as he had hoped. The cassetticon was effortlessly ripped away from the Autobot’s head and flung away.

“AHHHHH!” Frenzy hurtled end over end through the air until he crashed into Runabout, sending the battlecharger careening off his path towards Arcee.

Rumble glanced over to see his twin hurtling away. “You piece of scrap! I’m gonna make you pay for that! I’m gonna kick yer aft for that!”

Actually after seeing Frenzy get chucked away like an empty fuel container the Decepticon thought it might be better to just let go of the bigger Autobot. He let go, landing on his feet. He quickly snatched the twin laser rifles from his back and started blasting the Autobot. Yeah, it wasn’t what he said he was going to do, but who gave a slag? “Burn you stinkin’ piece of scrap! I’ll melt ya down into a puddle!”

*******

Astrotrain laughed as his punch sent Smokescreen hurtling back. It felt so slagging good to slam into one of those little Autobots like that. No matter how often he did it he always loved that look of surprise and horror that came over their faces when he shifted modes quicker than they could handle. There weren’t many triplechangers out there and the few of them there were knew full well how to take advantage of their abilities. None of them were better than Astrotrain though, at least that’s what he thought.

The Decepticon skidded to a halt, not all of his momentum having been transferred to Smokescreen when he punched him. It wasn’t long after stopping that he came under fire. Astrotrain dropped to the ground but not before he took a couple of hit. He grunted in pain as the shots struck his chest, his pleasure at having punched the Autobot long forgotten. He spotted Smokescreen diving behind a boulder.

“Alright you little slagger, if you think that’s gonna stop me you got another thing coming!” Astrotrain charged at the boulder, grabbing it in his hands and with a mighty heave lifting it over his head. With a snarl the triplechanger threw it down at Smokescreen.

(OOC: I'm making a sort of called hit on Runabout here. I found it a bit out of character and border line powergaming for him to abandon his current fight completely to run off and fight another character controlled by the same player. Please keep things in character and not create situations like this again in the future please.)
