Okay you got me. I had it in my head that he went rogue at the end of the cave episode, but it was actually the one following the cave episode.

For ma, the main problem with Magnus is that i expect from him to bring an entire squad of Autobots to Earth. It's kinda ridicilus, Cons retake Apex Armor, have Shockwave AND Predakins, while Bots lose their base, they lider is in critical condition, and all what they get is one guy ad a spacecraft.
About Starscream, I like him because one thing. He is a dynamic character, he played many roles during series. Lets compare him to Arcee, witch once determined in "Darkness Rising" all the time is exactly the same. If after more than 50 episodes you still don't know what this character gona do, it is good for the show.

That would blow their budget. This is CGI. You can't just add characters like crazy. It costs money to make these models. Not only that, but bringing an entire squadron of Autobots we haven't even met before at once is a waste of character.

Not unless he were to have brought a whole platoon of footsoldiers like Autotroopers.PrymeStriker wrote:That would blow their budget. This is CGI. You can't just add characters like crazy. In addition to what PrymeStriker said about CGI expenses, Magnus's troop resources weren't exactly the best when he left Cybertron. Prior to leaving, he was overseeing the final evacuation of the planet, which included mostly the Wreckers and any others left behind. By the time all the evacuees were in the clear, all Autobots that remained (as far as we could tell) were Magnus and the Dinobots. Though, the whole incident with Ser-Ket, the Forged, and the return of Shockwave caused a delay to their own evacuation, leading to the Dinobots deciding to stay behind and deal with Shockwave, resulting in Magnus having to go on alone.TurboMMaster wrote:For ma, the main problem with Magnus is that i expect from him to bring an entire squad of Autobots to Earth. Wheeljack also mentioned to Bulkhead that most of the other Wreckers were dead, and Jackie had been off-planet for most of Season 1.
In "Loose Cannons" he explicitly states Pyro, Rotorstorm, Impactor, Roadbuster, and most recently Seaspray were offline. Logically, Magnus shouldn't have many Wreckers left to bring with him, and he left Cybertron alone in the Rage of the Dinobots comic, as Sabrblade notes.

Yeap, yeap, I know, I watched.. bu the question remains... so what? Arcee in seazon 3 Arcee said that there were others on Ark.Henry921 wrote:Wheeljack also mentioned to Bulkhead that most of the other Wreckers were dead, and Jackie had been off-planet for most of Season 1.
Yet there is no reason to belive so others Wreckers survive. Also Wreckers =/= Autobots. He could meet some non-momber of elite comandos club during he's yourney. In "Loose Cannons" he explicitly states Pyro, Rotorstorm, Impactor, Roadbuster, and most recently Seaspray were offline. What TurboMMaster was originally suggesting was that Magnus bring in other Autobots with him. Not specifically Wrecker Autobots, but Autobots in general.

Deus ex Forge. How exactly did it upgrade Prime just from him touching it? There may be an explanation but I don't know it. I am happy to see that Prime's wings from the toy are in the show, so I can display him with wings splayed and not have any regrets. But now I need some sort of gatling gun.
Well anyway, about the rest of the episode. Predaking is trapped somewhere incredibly cold, frozen solid. I expect Shockwave will track him down and free him in short order, but I hope Prime's upgrade opens the door for more Preds. Also Predaking, if he's sentient, needs to reveal it sooner rather than later.
Magnus is part of the team permanently, and with Prime in a new body, nobody has to acknowledge their (former) physical similarities. Hopefully we'll see Magnus lighten up over the course of the season.
Darkmount is lost, Starscream may have lost some points in Megatron's favor by advocating that they retreat, but I'm honestly impressed that he didn't attempt a power grab.
And next week we're re-airing these first four episodes with on-screen notes.

Episode 56 -
What the--! Ultra Magnus couldn't deal with "Wrecker-style" back on Cybertron (and refuses to deal with it here)? Oh, slag no! SLAG, no! Not only did they have the gall to homage the dreadful "I can't deal with that now!" line from the G1 movie (twice in one sentence, even), but they completely botched up the character that Aligned Ultra Magnus has been established to be prior to now. Thank you, TF: Prime. Thank you for giving a proverbial middle finger to canon. You clearly show that you truly care about the lore you've been basing this entire show around by outright insulting it. Up yours, TF: Prime.
Love the new toys the Autobots are packin'.
Once again, the Jet Vehicon Generals are referred to as "Seekers".
Wheeljack's new weapon is an energy whip. Bulkhead's might be a laser bazooka.
Predaking's symbol is visible!
Dude! They just GroundBridged Predaking to a polar ice cap! And he's freezing up! That was brilliant!
Oh boy. Shockwave's mad. And he's jumping into the fray.
Optimus is fading. He's asking who stands before him, and is having visions of Alpha Takei.
Wait, with Alpha Trion appearing before the dying Optimus in a vision, would that mean that Alpha Trion is, by now, dead? Guess he died prior to the Prime cartoon.
Bumblebee's new weapon is an energy shield, while Arcee's is a Star Trek-esque handheld Phaser.
And Ultra Magnus has a good old-fashioned BFG.
Ultra Magnus vs. Megatron. This show be good.
Shockwave has come to do some damage.
"What in the name of Paul Revere's horse is taking'em so long?" - Another classic Fowlerism.
We didn't actually see Optimus take Alpha Trion's hand, so... there's still some itty bitty elbow room for him to not quite be dead.
Smokescreen put the Forge into Optimus's hand.
Getting flashbacks to DOTM with that pre-execution hostage scene between Shockwave, the Vehicons, and the Autobot group that includes Bumblebee.
Look!
Up in the sky!
Is it a bird?
Maybe a plane?
Cheetor: "IT'S OPTIMUUUUUUUUUS!!!"
More DOTM homages as Optimus swoops in and spins around to attack!
WHOOOOOOOA NELLY! GIANT GATLING MACHINE GUN, TF: CYBERTRON STYLE!
"WRECKER-STYLE" vs. SHOCKWAVE!
Megatron is MAAAAAD!
Optimus vs. Megatron AIR BATTLE!
Fowler's jet units are called "Sky Strikers", a common jet from the G.I. Joe franchise.
"MEGATRON... BE GONE!" - Still just as good as his last use of it.
BOOYAH! Right in the Fusion Cannon power core! Score one bull's eye for the Autobots!
BAM! Right in the Shockwave! Nice one, Bee!
And the Air Force levels the citadel. 'MERICA, YEAH!
Starscream had the chance to leaving Megatron to go down with his base, but chose not to and ordered the Jet Vehicons to bring him to safety.
Looks like Smokescreen's distressed transformation from the trailer was just him transforming to stop quickly on a highway.
"Aw... I missed it!" - A rare instance in which a moment of awesome comes and goes in an episode that includes Smokescreen, but doesn't have him involved in said awesome moment.
When Smoke put the Forge into Optimus's hands, the last of its energy was evidently absorbed (possibly via the Matrix) into Optimus's body, revitalizing him. I'll buy it since I'm glad it wasn't just another case of "Optimus is near death, so the Matrix decided to revive him and power him up on its own," which is so tired and tried (especially in fanfiction) that it borders on the cliche.
Ratchet again points out that there is no way to restore Cybertron, but this time he commends the one who lost that chance of theirs instead of berating them. Seems the Doc Bot has finally come to his senses, seeing how a dead world is less important than life that is still living.
Oh. My. Goodness. That was and amazing episode! Well, aside from that little knock at the continuity, the rest of it was HARDCORE! Honestly, I having geeked out at a TF episode as badly as I did at this one since the EPIC season 1 finale of Rescue Bots! Seriously, this episode was FUN! Exciting! Bold! Daring! And it gave us Optimus's beastly new form! With wings! I honestly did not expect the wings to be included, since neither the Cyberverse Commander nor the Ultimate figure has them. Though, I do wish the toy had that sweet gatling gun, since the toys guns seemed to be used only as Prime's jet boosters. And the U.S. military got to show what they're really made of in having the honor of leveling Darkmount. I honestly did not expect them to go that far with this episode. The status quo changes ever quickly in this season, with Shockwave coming in in 53, Magnus and Predaking in 54, the Bots regrouping in 55, and now a bunch of stuff here. And with Predaking now a Predcicle, this could give Shockwave a reason to go get some more Predacons to even the score (and hopefully retrieve Predaking pretty soon, too). All in all, this episode was awesome, and I look forward to more!
And, next week... no new episode. Instead, we get a encore airing of these season 3 episodes with special behind-the-scenes commentary in an event know as "Transformers: Prime Beast Hunters - The Autobits Edition". I'll look forward to it.

Re: The Official Transformers: Prime Discussion Thread
I did not like this episode...
The Con fortress gets destroyed while the Autobots all meet up (with Optimus in charge) and have a new base, making it feel like they've reverted back to status quo despite the few team shakeups.
And of course Predaking is frozen, likely either forever or until the season finale. Woo.
Instead of Smokescreen taking the lead, he rebuilds Optimus... somehow. He put the forge in OP's dead hand and it kinda exploded or something and we don't see or at least get told just what the heck happened.
The Con fortress gets destroyed while the Autobots all meet up (with Optimus in charge) and have a new base, making it feel like they've reverted back to status quo despite the few team shakeups.

They said the Forge was drained of its energy. It's pretty evident that all that energy (which has the ability to make things from anything) got absorbed into Optimus's body (possibly via the Matrix's own energy coming in contact with the Forge's energy) and "made" him into a new form.Noideaforaname wrote:Instead of Smokescreen taking the lead, he rebuilds Optimus... somehow. It was a bit of a rushed wrap-up of what could be considered the first "arc" of this season.
While I'm very much a Ultra Magnus fanboy, I'm finding it hard to like this personality of UM. Sure, the IDW comics have established him as being no-nonsense and sticks to the rules, like Prime UM ... but IDW Magnus at least had a supporting cast that made light of his attitude. Prime UM is lacking that, the closest we get is Drift Wheeljack who just doesn't respect UM's authority.
It was good to see Magnus and Prime together though.
New look Prime reminds me a bit of Star Convoy.
Magnus -vs- Megatron ... want to see more of this fight!
Shockwave ... yeah, you know when Shockwave enters the battle ***** gonna hit the fan. Such cold ruthless brutality, just how I like my Shockwave!
And in my head when Prime had the Forge placed into his hand, I can just imagine Alpha Trion going "Oh my!" (great to hear George Takei in another show)

I am happy to see that Prime's wings from the toy are in the show, so I can display him with wings splayed and not have any regrets. But now I need some sort of gatling gun.
I recommend the Kotobukiya M.S.G. Weapon Unit 20 Gatling Gun and process' 5mm adapter. I've already got one for Skyquake, once I find him.

My take on Ultra Magnus.
Ultra Magnus is/was the Wrecker commander, but after seeing so much senseless death and especially after losing so many Autobots he met, he doesn't want to see anyone die. That is why he fought Megatron alone. Wheeljack is a bit crazy in his 'Wrecker style' approach. Ultra Magnus doesn't want to lose any more Autobots because of 'Wrecker style'. As such, his strategy put the Autobots in the least amount of harm as possible.
He probably blames himself for a lot of Wrecker deaths as well. I hope we get so see why he is so icy. This series from its onset was heavily influenced by Furman (The Transformers not being publicly known, secret base, and now Ultra Magnus).
I also hope that he lightens up as the series progresses because he realizes he can open up and can put his faith that Optimus Prime will protect them all.
