Sure, he doesn't look much like G1 Ironhide, and he was extremely annoying in the show, but the toy was pretty decent, colours and visible head aside (at least to the best of my knowledge, never actually owned it myself).
I own the green recolor of him, and I agree he's pretty underrated. Honestly, barring the visible head he's actually pretty good. Nice, beefy alternate mode, fun and easy transformation, beefy robot mode with good articulation and probably the best damned Powerlinx modes of Energon. And heck, he's got molded seats and a steering wheel in his cab! okay, it's not Alternators-level, but it's still good to see!
And hell, the visible head might be a minor blessing in disguise. People hear how 'horrible' it is, then they get the toy and realize other than that, he's a good toy.

What about BotCon 2005 Ironhide?OptimalOptimus2 wrote:From what I am reading, it seems that Ironhide hasn't had a good G1 toy since the beginning. Most of them are extremely strange (cough)like the Universe figure(cough). The only figure that's close to looking like G1 Ironhide is the Masterpiece and he has wheels for a butt!

Well, as someone who does own it, it's a pretty bad figure. His head isn't just visible, it also has a giant electronic gimmick permanently attached to it. It really has more of a Fisher Price feel to it than a Transformers feel. It's not the worst figure ever (or even the worst Energon figure) but it's definitely not good overall either.DecepticonFinishline wrote:Sabrblade wrote:You mean Universe Ironhide? That mold is terrible.griftimus prime wrote:no mention of the classics ironhide? best one in my opinion.
I disagree. I can SEE why people have that opinion; the panel lines in alt mode (doesn't bother me, much), and not being able to put his arms down at his side (that does bother me a little)... But the bot mode still looks good, I think, and that mold has one of the funnest transformations of any of the classicsverse figures -and that is the most important part for me.
Dude, even Universe Ironhide knows he's a bad toy, that's why he can only hang his head in shame.

I DID forget about that part of the mold, and that one DOES bother me, but I stand by what I said. An interesting transformation goes much further, for me, than a really good looking bot mode. That's why I like the Ironhide/Ratchet mold, and don't much care for (and I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this) the Brainstorm mold.

Rearrange those ones there in some order and you got yourself a "Top 6 Worst Ironhide Transformers Toys" list.
Though, G2 Ironhide/RiD Ironhide (Car Robots Ox) or Power Master Ironhide aren't there.
Not when this isn't about characters. It's about toys that were sold under the label of "Ironhide".Delicon wrote:This is a strange topic just because you're talking about a lot of different characters.
