Honestly I don't think the legs in the wings are that big a deal. They seem to fold away fairly flush with the wings, and blend in with the overall silhouette fairly well. The original stock photos I agree made them look pretty bad, but honestly these new images make me think they're a complete non-issue unless you really care about G1 accuracy (which is redundant considering they combine, which the G1 Dinobots never did, thus making these different incarnations altogether).

If it hinders articulation though I will be disappointed.

Toyworld always puts out the most G1 accurate member of a line first, then they get less G1 accurate as the line progresses. They did this with both their throttlebot and headmaster lines. They also cant seem to decide whether their main line is going to be G1 or IDW inspired and keep going back and forth. By the time their Dinobot line gets to Swoop, don't be surprised if he has two heads.

Toy World is creating my Second favorite 3rd party Dinobots team. With FansToys creating my First favorite Dinobots team.

The thing that I love about ToyWorld is that they like creating the bigger scaled TF toys.
Like their Eight inch Ultra Scale Headmasters toys. Hoping at some point TW creates leader scaled toys for the Two 1987 Horrorcons.

I've never bought a TW TF toy before. I've got TW Fort Max and TW Astrotrain on Pre-orders. Looking forward to owning these Two TW TF toys.

Honestly, from what we've seen of the TW Dinobots I don't think them being overly "neo" will be a concern. Snarl is pretty much perfect, Slag looks absolutely spot-on and Grimlock looks amazing too. The only one who really departs that much from the formula is Sludge, and that's only in the legs folding into the wings. We'll have to wait and see with Swoop but I doubt he'll be that different given the rest of the team.

I don't really mind Sludge being non-G1 accurate, so I'll just treat the dino leg on backpack as some sort of rocket boosters.

If you took the time to look at it properly instead of coming up that joke you'll notice that it's actually black plastic that's not showing too well thanks to the black background. You can totally see this in the picture of his botmode.

If you look at the top of the page you can see he does have ankle tilts. I dunno why they didn't use them for these new pics, but they're clearly tilted above.

Is it just me, or does this set now look kinda big. They almost seem to scale with MP more than Classics. But, I guess we have a good number of size and aesthetic choices right now for Dinobots. Hooray for competition! :APPLAUSE:

Wow... I was hoping it would look better next to snarl.
I can overlook the strange location for the dino legs, but the black plastic on
it's torso should've been red, like snarls. The fact he also appears to be smaller
doesn't help him either.

It would be nice if Toyworld as well as Fansproject would show us the rest of the
team, so i could decide for myself wich of the teams looks best overall.

Nope. These things look too much like toy dinos in my opinion. That's why I don't particularly care for vintage toy accuracy. Fansproject really brought the characters to life. When I look at Columpio's dino mode in hand, the figure looks like it could actually be alive. Looking at Toyworld's Sludge, the dino looks still and boxy like a toy. Same think with Toyworld Snarl. Plus they ruined the scale with Sludge. Why didn't they make Sludge the torso ? Just because Grimlock was the leader doesn't mean he has to be the torso. Scrapper was a freaking leg on Devastator.

For one, Scrapper was only the leader in the cartoon (and even then I don't think we was ever explicitly defined as the leader). Quite often Hook is the leader of the Constructicons, mainly because he forms the upper torso (although in a lot of continuities the Constructicons are depicted as not having a clear "leader"). Secondly, I find it ironic that you consider these so much worse than the FP versions in spite of your insane devotion the G1 cartoon accuracy, and these most certainly being more G1 accurate. Or are you saying "G1 accuracy is the most important thing ever except when it isn't!"? At least try and maintain some form of consistency. I mean, I prefer the FP Dinobots too (although I certainly don't think these look bad and I think the combined mode is going to look beastly) but seeing as you consistently hold G1 accuracy above all else it seems a bit odd for you to suddenly start complaing about the aesthetics of figures that are essentially the G1 characters.

I think it's a good looking toy, but I also think that Sludge could have been better had he not been designed with the combiner mode in mind. Think the figure is having to suffer a little in order to be a proper leg for the gestalt mode. Just seems smaller than he should be... like a Stego-sized Apatosaurus. It's not a -huge- design flaw, but enough for me to feel FP is a little more what I'm looking for in my Neo-DinoNots.

When I say "G1" I always mean cartoon accurate. The vintage 1985-1988 figures look like what they are...kids toys. Toyworld has seemed to replicate the "vintage toy" look well for those who like that sort of thing. For those who want something that resembles the cartoon models but makes them look more life like, Fansprject is the way to go. Some call it "neo". Some call it an "update". I simply call them more cartoon accurate. Maybe not as cartoon accurate as you get with the MP line. But definitely on par with the CHUG lines because they are more streamlined like they were portrayed in the cartoon. That combined with my preference in scale makes Fansproject the winner for me.

...Dude, the ToyWorld versions are unquestionably more cartoon accurate. The cartoon models didn't stray that far from the toys anyway (beyond reducing the amount of surface detail and giving Swoop the wrong colours of course). Aside from the legs in the robot mode "wings" ToyWorld Sludge is much more cartoon accurate than Columpio (who has a totally different aesthetic, lacks the back-wings, has a segmented neck instead of the "smooth" neck)...

Like I say, I actually prefer the FP Dinobots, but it has nothing to do with G1 accuracy. In fact I like them BECAUSE they stray from the original designs a bit. But if you honestly want cartoon accuracy, quite frankly the TW figures are better.

Of course, if you really want to have perfect G1 scale/details then I'm afraid you're going to have to bite the bullet and start an MP collection. If you want CHUG scale you'll have to settle for divergences from the cartoon, and if you want perfect cartoon scale/details you'll have to accept the larger scale.

Cant say I agree with you on Toyworld. They look like the toys. Granted the cartoon art did look like the toys a bit. But Fansproject gave them the streamlining they needed and took them to the next lever.

And I just can stomach the scale of the MP line. Theyre big for nothing. Outside of commanding higher prices, I cant see any reason why the same MP figures cant be shrunk down to CHUG scales.

:-?
So what you're saying here is that Toyworld is more cartoon accurate, whilst Fansproject is more neo.

Maybe I'm reading it the wrong way, but it contradicts your earlier statement
