I think that was the original intent. If I remember correctly, there was a LOT of complaining about the price. So, they decided to just focus on the armor. It looks cool, but the Transformer fan in me is having trouble getting past the fact that there is no transformation. (Sorry, I don't call that pile of kibble an alt mode either...)

well, the price is better, and I did think it was too expensive originally, given that we were primarily getting a trailer with a couple of armour pieces that didn't seem to integrate with it at all.

fair play to them on taking that feedback. i'll have to see really encouraging coloured pictures, and hopefully a video review, before committing though. i'm still holding out hope of a "big Voyager" Magnus based on the IDW comics somewhere down the line. $70 is still pretty expensive for something that makes a Transformer less of a transformer. Maybe they'd have been better off designing something properly?

Although I do think it would be nice for them to at least offer the trailer separately.

actually, when they first showed us that it was a stupidly huge trailer with a bit of unconnected armour parts hidden under it I lambasted them for doing a piss poor job of engineering the thing.

City Commander with his BMFG wasn't perfect, but it did give both vehicle and robot modes a definitively Magnus-y look. This one, $100 pointless trailer or no, still only does that for one mode.

Now wait a second! I don't think we deserve the eye-roll like that. Sheesh! Did you go back and see the complaints? This thing was originally $170 at BBTS for armor and trailer. The feeling (myself and others) was that that was far too high for a deluxe trailer/armor, especially when compared to already established companies like MakeToys and their battle tanker. MT had more reasonably integrated the trailer and armor pieces. The trailer for Transformazing Toys was inferior to the MakeToys design, didn't integrate the armor as well, and cost something like twice MT's offering. Do you really think those are bad complaints?

Then, TT drops the trailer and cuts the price down to something in the range of Battle Tanker. Okay, fine. That's one way to cut costs. That's their decision. But it still is really expensive for deluxe armor that doesn't transform into anything. Do you really think this is being hypocritical to warrant an eye-roll? I'd have been fine with the trailer, but $170 is far, far too expensive. $90 is still really expensive for this product, sans trailer. That's MMC Predacon piece area, a completely unique figure.

So, you want to explain how we're supposed to feel about this product that wouldn't end up in the eye-roll? (Yeah, I'm bugged by the comment...)

Honestly, I kind of like it in just white, without Magnus coloring.

As for the pricing, two things:

1) I would have said that $90 was way too much for this armor, but considering that I just got my $20 KFC upgrade missile-things for FOC Ultra Magnus, and they're two tiny little pieces or garbage that has virtually no playability and want to break every time you take them apart... well, $90 for this doesn't sound that bad.

b) I had no issue with $170 for the trailer. Did I think it was expensive? Absolutely. Still, I'd rather pay $170 for the armor and trailer than $90 for just the armor. As for those who complained, and are drawing Maketoys comparisons: How come no one is complaining about $180 for their not-Nova Prime?

Nova Prime is the whole figure, not just an add-on trailer. (And I do think $180 is too expensive, hence why I am nor getting it. ;) )

I get your point, and am not arguing with you by any means. My point was just some people seem to have an issue with a $170 trailer that required another $10 figure, but not $180 for a complete figure and trailer.

Oh, no problem. I like a good debate, anyway. :) I think the difference is that in Nova, there is a new figure that has scant attention by HasTak (and until recently from 3P as well.). With the TT armor, well, it's cool and all, but doesn't really go to an existing character very much. I think I made a comment right away how it was hard for me to understand a Powermaster add on for a character 5 million years before he would become a Powermaster. UM makes more sense, and I would have been more on board with that trailer and armor, though again not for the price. $60-$80 for both the trailer and armor and I might have bitten.

Also, I wish FansProject had done this with Protector, because I just use the armor for Rodimus, and I have a half-complete trailer and parts that are collecting dust.

heh, same, but I like the ability to change him back to Space Winnebago mode. besides, I quite like the gun emplacement mode and can put GunDude (I can't even remember the real name, let alone FPs fake one) in there and it looks like he's overcompensating so bad, which is hilarious.

One of the things I liked about Protector was that it armour that integrated into the trailer, and separating the two for Rodimus' robot mode left me with something different, but still cool. It didn't seem like the Transformazazling version did that. The armour was all hidden and didn't appear to form any real part of the trailer. I still wish they'd just designed a much better transforming product.

Maybe, or maybe they are hinting at another set which would combine with either one of these (or both) that will be released later. It's kinda hard to tell here.

Also, why do the instructions say "Beware of the slut position"?
