That's pretty sad.

I'd gladly take your boredom with the line over the utter lack of any real CW stuff to hit my area yet.

I'm gonna say I like it, just to be the edgy kid.

In truth, I really do. One, I'll take all my mini-bots as legends now. Frankly I feel, like with Huffer, had we gotten these modes as Huffer and Warpath first, and then Prime/Megatron second, I doubt there would be much talk about them. Yes, I like Deluxe Warpath, love him, but I like the idea of having mini-bots again.

I feel like the base mold wasnt a terrible choice, but they could have molded a different chest and arms piece to make him look more like warpath and less like someone's filler custom. As it is I'll ebay the deluxe unless the universe legend is re released with 5mm hands.

Shoulda been Emirate Xaaron. No other besides him and Megatron fit this mold's body.

Without running to have a look at the figure I don't it would be hard for someone to create a kit that will swap out the current chest and replace it with one where the gun (or a modified one) can be attached and removed accordingly.

The chest forms the base of the tank turret. It kinda needs to be flat for the shoulders to rest on top of it.

When this first got rumored, I was staunchly against it, but dammit, this looks pretty cool. The plastics and paint apps just look a little nicer than the Legends Megatron does. So, yea, much like Huffer, while it's not the toy I want, it is a toy I like.

Drill a hole where the Autobot symbol is, modify the gun so it plugs in ... wouldn't take much modification at all really.

The center of the chest is taken up by the rotating swivel joint that rests flush up against the chestplate piece. Said hole wouldn't be deep enough to adequately grip the gun. :-|

Ah crud, I misremembered and had that setup backwards. The swivel's further back inside his torso rather than in his chestplate. So it might very well be possible for a drilled-in hole to hold the gun.

You could cut into it and embed a small earth magnet, and again, modified gun (someone could design it for Shapeways) and embed an earth magnet on it and attach it that way.

Those earth magnets don't let go easily.

Either way, it wouldn't take much for a customiser to do this.

Objectively, it's not a bad figure or reuse of that mold at all. The deco looks very good, and it's a solid sculpt. It's just that with a LITTLE more effort, it could have been a great figure. Even if the chest cannon were relegated to a faux part with a little retooling of the arms and chest plate, it would make all the difference give Warpath his distinctive character and visual flare. The same could be said of the Huffer redeco. They could have retooled the wind vane on top of the truck cab to become a little "scoop" behind Huffer's head instead of bulking up the shoulders like on the Prime use of the mold. It would have been a small change that makes a big difference differentiating a character from the base mold and adding that certain "G1" charm. Oh well.

The scale for Deluxes changed.

We never got the Ratbat from Scourge either (from Hasbro, that is).

But it and the arms are also a separate piece from the main body to enable the turret's rotation. They could have made an entirely new chest and arms for the purpose of making warpath. Think of this: the chest (the part with the cannon) flips down on a hinge (possibly a double hinged piece to allow it to extend further forward, the arms fold up, possibly with the fists hinging down into hollows, the shoulders unplug and rotate up to fill the space the chest was occupying. The leg transformation remains standard, because at that point who the hell cares that it's not a quad tank get over it.

you know, I'm starting to think hasbro doesn't even plan to release the rest of the combiner parts to turn Leader Megatron into Overmegasixwave.

Has Hasbro done that extent of retooling to a Generations Legends mold before? I can't see them doing so now if there hasn't been one to set a precedent.

durroth wrote:you know, I'm starting to think hasbro doesn't even plan to release the rest of the combiner parts to turn Leader Megatron into Overmegasixwave.
That's probably for the better. It would be more cruel of them to release the rest of those characters as toys since Leader Megatron wouldn't be able to combine with them.

My initial reaction to Legends Warpath was disappointment...but now it's starting to grow on me a bit, just like Legends Huffer. I'm trying to mentally place them in the same category as some of the original "Classics" releases which were meant to update and modernize G1 characters instead of meticulously recreate their original aesthetics.

Meh... It isn't a bad looking figure, and to people still needing a Warpath, this should be a good addition to their collections! But... well... I certainly don't mind a wee bit of revisionism in my "Classics" style figures. (Heck, I came to accept a Perceptor that wasn't a microscope!)But sometimes there are just little visual bits that I feel are iconic to a character, making a figure not work quite right without them. And on Warpath, his chest cannon is such an iconic element. And so, I shall stick with these guys:
