Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Leader Class Figures Thread
- Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
In an attempt to make sure we don't cross too many posts, the staff of Seibertron.com have decided to split apart the combining Combiner Wars figures from the non-combining Leader class ones part of the same line. To that effect, all news stories about upcoming Thundercracker and Ultra Magnus, and potential Starscream repaints and more, will be redirected here!
As a recap, the line so far sees its inception with Leader Class Thrilling 30 Jetfire (base mold for Thundercracker and possible further Seekers). The Combiner Wars line proper has its first Leaders in Megatron, both the G1-esque deco and the Armada homage, and a very IDW-styled Ultra Magnus reveal, with Minimus Ambus minifigure. News so far linked to below.

Hey, thanks for doing this, Va'al!! Missing the Alpha Bravo awesomeness aside, it'll be nice to discuss these on their own. I was hoping BBTS was going to have Megs before I shipped my POL last week, but alas...
I really like Armada Megs (the original mold). I don't know how I feel about this version. I may keep him in his awesome alt mode and consider him G2 megs. Maybe some day when I get better at painting, I'll put in the camo detailing...
[Edit] And while I was typing this, Sabrblade comes in witht hat awesome pic. Thanks, sir!!

Alpha Bravo is still awesome, even when not relevant to the topic.

That G2 Megatron looks sweet! I would buy that. As-is I'm definitely getting the G1 Megatron. I'm not sure about the Armada one, because while that guy does need knees and forward hip rotation, this mold is a bit too different for my tastes. But it's a good effort. I'm really looking forward to Magnus, though, he looks boss.

I could see it as a retail release if Hasbro had gone with this instead of the G1 deco.Optimum Supreme wrote:Looks good, but you know if it ever got released it would be some sort of con exclusive or somesuch.
After all, we did get a G2 deco in Generations GDO at TRU.

I've decided if the Takara version of G1 Megs comes in before Amazon gets their stock I'll grab that. Did everyone just gloss over the fact that the Hasbro folks at Toy Fair said Magnus will have a hard time holding the hammer? I hope it's not the case since there's no point to a hammer if it can't be held.

Think all of these 30th and CW Leader class toys are home runs. It was a great idea to create a separate thread just for these toys.

I think it's safe to include Jetfire under the CW Leader banner. He's not OFFICIALLY part of Combiner Wars, but his retool/redeco Thundercracker is, and it's easier to consider Jetfire part of this assortment than the only member of a unique assortment of Generations non-combiner wars Leaders. He's the honorary member, as it were. So the list is now: Jetfire, Megatron, Armada Megatron, Ultra Magnus, Thundercracker, and maybe more Seekers.

Jetfire's a Generations Thrilling 30 toy, last year's product. This is for 2015-onward Leaders.
The case of Thundercracker is no different from Generations Fall of Cybertron Starscream being redecoed into Generations Thrilling 30 Thundercracker and Skywarp, only being a remold this time instead of a straight redeco.

Sabr... First of all, no.

Tsutsukakushi *did* say:

He mentioned both last year's stuff and this year's and you are not allowed to tell others what they can or cannot discuss. (No mini-modding!) Tsutsukakushi made a very good point, because one of last year's molds is being repurposed this year (and probably will be again) and regardless of their use, there have been some really great figures because of it.

I agree to including Jetfire in this thread just for convenience's sake even though he has a thread of his own (3 pages down the thread list if you must know). It's not really any different compared to the others who are Combiner Wars "in name only" (as they don't combine with anyone). This is more of a "general thread", which takes preference over threads dealing with individual figures, am I right?

My only complaint with the Megatron figures is the feet. That gray piece on each lower leg just throws the whole aesthetic for me. Otherwise, the Leader Megatron figures are pretty good.
I agree that Jetfire should be counted among these figures, for reasons already mentioned.

Looking at that wonderful G2 deco really makes me wish the fusion cannon was removable and there were ports on other parts of the body for the different Megs, the hip for Armada Megatron, the shoulder for G2 Megaton.
This looks like a job for...3rd party?

When I wrote the first post, I made sure to include Jetfire for the sake of historicity in the Generation Leader line. This thread is mostly to keep out news and discussion of upcoming and current figures in the Leader class from the more generic Combiner Wars thread - but of course the progenitor of the line can be discussed too!

I never realised how on-topic everyone wanted to be until this thread.

Wish the Generations Leader Jetfire had the Robot sculpted parts That CW Leader Thundercracker has. Minus the seeker head. So Jetfire would look a bit more like his 1985 toy.
