Transformers "Heroes" Cartoon News and Rumors Thread!!

Postby skywarp-2 » Sat May 19, 2007 7:48 am

I'm starting this Thread to lay out all the new info and leaked information to the New Transforrmers Cartoon series and designs, art, Story Content, Human characters, plot, and other various information we can amass before the debut of this new series.

Here is what we have gathered so far on the subject from various sources from around the web:

Tformers .com:
http://tformers.com/TF-Animated-A-2008- ... /news.html

Thanks to Colin Warhurst Website of Siab Studios of a cover of a UK based entertainment news magazine Broadcast April 2007 edition, featuring the new 2008 Transformers animated that will be 26 half hour episodes plus a 90 minute special.

Is this the new Transformers cartoon that we've been referring to as "Transformers: Heroes" being produced by Cartoon Network?

According to the source website, only the logo is available with no information inside the magazine on it. However, there is a comment that the logo is a lot like the Toonami look that is usual in Cartoon Network-produced shows.

If this is indeed the upcoming cartoon we have been calling "Heroes," it is most likely a way to reduce confusion between itself and the "Transformers" movie that will have already been released when the show hits television screens worldwide. The loose 2008 date also contradicts the Fall 2007 release date that was previously attached to the "Hereoes" project by both IESB and Tara Strong. However, due to "Broadcast" being a UK magazine, the date may only be reflecting the UK broadcast date, not the U.S.

Whether or not the show is a continuation of the movie or "a new series based on our old shows," as commented by Frank Welker several months back is unknown.

The front page image shows that the series will consist of twenty six (26) thirty (30) minute episodes with a nintey (90) minute special.

News attached to the "Heroes" project are Tom Kenny playing Starscream, and Tara Strong as Suri.

Rumors attached to the project include David Kaye playing Optimus Prime and Corey Burton playing Megatron.

ICV2 News:

May 10, 2007
A new Transformers animated series, known as Transformers: Animated, will debut on the Cartoon Network this fall, just a couple of months after the appearance of the blockbuster live action Transformers movie debuts over the July 4th weekend (see "Best in Shows 2007, Part 2"). The 26-episode Transformers: Animated will be the first North American designed Transformers series since Transformers: Beast Machines, the CGI series that was produced by Canada's Mainframe Entertainment.

Beast Machines co-writer Marty Isenberg is functioning as the editor/chief writer for the new Transformers: Animated series -- something that hardcore Transformers fans will not be too happy about (Isenberg's Beast Machines co-writer Robert Skir once had to cancel a convention appearance due to death threats from irate fans). Matt Youngberg (Teen Titans, The Batman) will be the new series' supervising director while Derrick Wyatt (Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes) is providing the character designs and Cartoon Network VP Sam Register will produce.

Little is known about the new series except for the fact that it will take place in a future era during which humans and robots both inhabit the Earth. Optimus Prime (supposedly now a fire truck) and Megatron will be featured in the new series, which reportedly features a brand new look for the long-lived Transformers characters.

Seibertron.com Article Entertainment rights:
http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=10240
"Entertainment Rights (ER) has secured rights to the new Transformers animated television series from toy giant Hasbro, as well as agreeing a raft of international deals for its key properties following MipTV.

ER now has worldwide (excluding Latin America, North America and certain Asian territories) TV and video-on-demand distribution rights to Transformers (26x30') plus a 70-minute Transformers special. ER now represents four seasons of the show, totaling 154 episodes.

The new series has a good deal of talent onboard, including Sam Register, exec producer of Ben 10, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi and Teen Titans; Vincent Aniceto, line producer (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Power Puff Girls); and Marty Isenberg, head writer (Danny Phantom, A.T.O.M., X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). In addition, Derrick Wyatt, character designer for smash hit Teen Titans, will take the role of lead designer.

The new 2D style that will be the show's trademark harks back to the original 20-year-old cartoon, but according to ER, the new Transformers has a different audience in mind." -C21 Media

The main new information is that there will 154 episodes, plus a 70 minute special.

The new cartoon will also see Worldwide distribution, but as of this point there is no target release date.

Check out the article here.

AS always, stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more of the new cartoon details as they come out.

EDIT: It was pointed out by SNIPER SAMURAI and BIGBOT that the 154 episodes and 4 seasons is misrepresented as only the new series. It supposedly meant to represent Armada, Energon, Cybertron, and the new series...

So everyone can wipe the surprised looks, off their faces. It is only 26 episdoes.

Tony Bacala "fan favorite Transformers Music DJ" of TW2005:
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112223

Transformer World 2005 has learned a bit more info on the upcoming Transformers series "Transformers Heroes". As we know, the auditions are taking place in Los Angeles now. The company handling the casting is none other than Susan Blu's Blupka Productions. Susan Blu voiced Arcee in the original G1 movie and cartoon, and also was behind the voice direction for Beast Wars. Also of note, the Optimus Prime character is younger than the rest of the cast, and is described as a Fire Truck. The agents are looking for a voice similar to a "Young Tom Hanks" for Prime. Megatron is being casted with a voice similar to Jeremy Irons aka "Scar" from the Lion King.

Since this seems to be a US produced show, with voice acting in LA rather than Canada taking place, let's hope some fan favorite VAs return. If Prime is indeed a Fire Truck, RID Prime VA Neil Kaplan would be the obvious choice, he is as close to Peter Cullen as you can get without a clone. Wally Wingert from RID continues to work in the industry heavily, and would be a great addition, possibly as Bumblebee. And let's not forget that now this is in LA, industry legend Frank Welker (G1 Megatron, Soundwave, etc) would be able to join the cast as, well any of them probably. Hopefully with Susan Blu, an American voice cast, and G1 names galore (see below), we will have the first well done show since Beast Wars.

What was the problem with the BM transformations? I don't remember them that well.

It was more of a magical morph than transformation of parts, and well, they had to do quite a lot of concentration/meditation at the beginning to be able to get out of their alt modes...

I was fine with the morph thing....

Maybe I'm just picturing something way different, but a spinning cyclone blur just sounds, well, different, but maybe it will end up different in a good way.

I quite liked the meditation / concentration hitch; it was interesting. I don't remember the morph-type thing, but I shall rewatch tonight!
