Looks like these past few days have all been about BIG reveals and today is no different as we get our next entry in the Movie Masterpiece toyline which is a Hasbro and Takara collaboration. In Demand Toys and and the official Transformers Weibo page have posted images of MPM-13 Blackout.
As with many MPM toys, at first it looks similar to a previously released toy, the Studio Series release, but that's simply because both are based on the same character model. When looking closer, we see the details that the Studio Series toy simply cannot achieve such as no partsforming for the back of the helicopter and a ramp for Scorponok. Plus we get a screen accurate weapon. This toy is also bigger, of course, measuring over 11 inches in height. Below are the images along with the Studio Series release and a statue based on the CGI model for comparisons.

He does look quite impressive, and I think I like how he looks better than the SS (which, to be fair, you'd hope given the price difference). That said, something seems...off about him somehow. Maybe it's the feet, maybe it's those quite literally cheesy blast effects.

MP Blackout looks like another easy pass for me. I had the old 2007 Voyager once, but it was too fussy to be enjoyable, and despite having some good articulation potential, it was all hampered by the kibble. You couldn't get any decent poses because it wouldn't balance, and every attempt at movement was blocked by some other part of the body.

Studio Series looked no different, and neither does this MP version. The robot mode still looks like it's fighting to emerge from a helicopter-shaped cocoon. But again, no shame to those who want this. Just more for you!

Very cool, looking forward to adding him to the set. I really like that they hid the panels by stacking them up to make his feet even if that means they aren't entirely accurate looking. I just wish there was a picture of the underside of the copter.

Depending on how good he ends up being I might get him for my general collection. I don't have any intention of starting an MPM display but given how ENORMOUS Blackout is (the Pave Low is a goddamn huge chopper) he could fit in with "normal" figures. Plus, you know, Transformers and scale.

Out of all the Baynus bots i'd be tempted for him. Having said that my SS Grindor was £22 and I never got around to buying the weijang? oversize studio series that looked great and was something I wanted. I'll be waiting for comparrisons of the MPM to that one before deciding.

I'm not keen on the ramp for scorponok as it always seemed almost like a rear ejected cassette or back breastformer from bot mode and not something that was ever inside the copters cargo bay. It would have been nice to see a new implementation/integration of him. Definitely won't pass if if drops as much as the ass Megatron and Starscream did.

Looking good so far. But what would convince me to pre-order it is if the belly of the copter is entirely covered in panels with no ugly undercarriage.

Adding the pic of the Prime 1 Studio statue was a dirty move lol. I was just reaaaaally trying to warm up to this MPM, but seeing that statue reminded me just how off proportion this new figure is in almost every sense. My biggest pet peeve is how thin his limbs are. Idk man, I guess I'm just a sucker for thicc arms and thighs in my TFs, and I was REALLY hoping this MPM blackout would beef them up compared to the SS version. If we don't get that here, we likely never will. Such a bummer.

I feel it was crucial. Many have a better idea of the SS figure than the actual CGI model so I felt it was important to show what the toy was trying to replicate. It also helps show why the arms are made to be so stubby.

Aw YEAH! I am SO STOKED! Movie Decepticons are some of my favorite designs, and I’ve wanted a good blackout since 2007.

I passed on the first voyager toy, but broke down when I found the 2-pack with Skorponok and instantly regretted it upon opening it.

Then the Studio Series figure came out, and I caved since it was so close…but the shortcomings really took away from my enjoyment. I wish that wasn’t the case, I really wanted to love that figure.

But this one, I’m really excited for. It even has that chest cannon!

I 100% echo all this. The original was a letdown, I got SS as a gift and he's better, but THIS is what I've wanted all along. Minus the blast effects!

Utterly gorgeous. I actually gasped when he rolled it over to show panels on the belly! :michaelbay:

If I allowed myself to spend more money on TF, I'd get this one.
I don't have any movie MP's, and possibly wouldn't get any after this.

But along with being the first live-action TF I ever saw, this looks like an awesome representation of this character.

Man, Blackout is looking awesome! So many cool details on this one, the rotor weapon actually combining with the main rotor is super cool (and the only screen accurate take of that weapon we've gotten on a Blackout figure), the lower windows on the cockpit actually fold away for bot mode, the gatling guns and blast effects are neat, and he finally has the chest gun! The fact that the alt mode is entirely panelled is also nuts, that's so cool that they did that!

I was a little worried about the colors at first, but some of the promo shots and the video show that the actual color is a much better gray, some of the pictures make him look much more blue.

The only problem I have with it is how narrow the feet are, Blackout has some very wide feet in the movie. It's a fairly minor nitpick though, I'd love to pick this figure up!

(Plus it could work as a properly scaled SS Grindor in bot mode. . .)

Transformers MPM Blackout was revealed to China today and since both this release and the SS release represent the same character, it was not obvious to see how much of an improvement this masterpiece release was over the standard leader class figure. Well, Hasbro released a video that gives us a better look at the figure. Now we see many new details, like how the rotor weapon actually combines with the main rotor is super cool. Also the alt mode is entirely paneled, meaning the alt mode looks perfect at every angle.

Info on the price is all over the place with a range of around $150-$250, so we'll wait until an official statement from Hasbro to western fans. Enjoy the video and stills below.

Now, to see if it will be an "Optimus Prime", meaning available just for a short while and only at full price? Or will it be a "Starscream", meaning available forever on insta-clearance, giving a big fat middle finger to those who preordered at full price? :-?

the helicopter looks to be only slightly bigger then the studio series, yet the bot mode is MUCH bigger. that is some impressive engineering to say the least. this is going to be a must have for me, despite not owning any of the other mpm figures. say what you will about the bayverse :SICK:

that opening scene in the original film where blackout first transforms and levels the base is one of the greatest transformer moments of all time. I honestly thought the studio series was going to be the best version of that character, kudos has/tak :BOWDOWN:

The SS version is (in my humble opinion), possibly the current pinnacle for Bayverse figures in terms of accurately portraying the complex movie model in both bot and alt modes, having decent articulation and also having a fun transformation without partsforming or 'cheating'. Only slightly falls short on scale.

If the MPM has a relatively simple transformation, it seems like it'll be superior in every way. Big if, though, for fans like me who enjoy transforming the figures back and forth.

Personally, I didn't like it, because I thought the diorama included in the undercarriage was unnecessary and detracted from it overall.

I wonder how this new MP version will stack against these and the inevitable MPM KO versions?

Unicron has 91 steps from assembled planet to bot.

There's actually many more steps in the instruction manual, but they're preparation steps like assembling the stand and ring and inserting filler plugs, stuff you'd only do once.
