Transformers stuff on Shapeways
- Motto: "Don't do drugs, beer's cheaper anyway!"
OK I've decided we need a thread that collects all the shops that sell TF kits and stuff on Shapeways, mostly due to Shapeway's search engine being crap.
So basically, post any shop/ member on Shapeways that/who sells Transformers related stuff.
I'll be editing the first post and include all your suggestions:
Ariel's Customs
Best known for the incredibly awesome Thugger 4.0, better known as WFC Rumble/ Frenzy.
Process' Projects
Best known for the cool Superion Filler which improves the poorly designed waist of the Energon/ ROTF/ Universe 2008 Superion mold.
Threadshot A1
Mostly miniature figures, another take on the WFC Rumble/Frenzy design.
Calloway's
Mostly parts and accessories.
Scramble Core
Power Core Combiner and Combiner parts in general.
G2 Productions
Parts and accessories.
Drawn-Steel Hero's Never Growing Up
Targetmasters.
Automaster
Weapons.
Sunlink's Armory
Weapons and parts.
Master Blaster's Blaster Boutique
Classics style weapons and upgrades.
MoonBaseToys
Weapons, and complex weapon kits.
Please add yours.

Treadshot A1 has an interesting shop of his own, namely a WFC Beastbox and another take on the Rumble/Frenzy/etc WFC toy.
I'm actually surprised none of them have done custom arms for Shockblast when you think about it...

Calloway's has some really awesome stuff like a LSOTW Pyro head for the Inferno mold and a Roadbuster head.

Those Brute shoulders look interesting, they seem to be replacements for FPs Bruticus shoulders, I think I'll order a set when they become available and use those instead of the originals.

If they become available. That's one thing I don't like about Shapeways, not everything they show is available.

Yea, the stuff that's not available is WIP stuff, meaning the guy making it still works fixing issues.

Not always. There is a custom Galvatron that was made from a Silverbolt and extensive Shapeways upgrades and the maker won't make it available. They even provide links to it on Shapeways but have no intention of making it public. There are also things that are no longer available even if they work with no explanation as to why it's locked.
Adding to the list:
Here's a set of back cannons similar to Fortress Maximus and a sword like the Master Sword he wielded in Headmasters for Onslaught to be used with Stronghold.
Here's a better looking Master Sword for him with pics of the actual printed product. I'm considering ordering these two.

The latter sword is made by G2 Productions, who has also made some good custom head and weapons for classics Cliffjumper and Generations Red Alert. The guy is also developing a custom headmaster Stylor to turn the Universe Sideswipe mold into Chromedome. Very very promising, still a WIP though.
Drawn-Steel Hero's Never Growing Up does a few awesome targetmasters.

if your on about Nicks IDW Galvatron kit for classics silverbolt he said he wont make that available for people because when he made it he then sold it on ebay and made alot of money from it but he said himself the kit isnt perfect and has its flaws.
I think really the kit cost ALOT for shapeways to make and alot of people would moan they would have to paint it themselves but i think he wont make it available because then every tom-dick-harry could make his idw galvatron and sell them on ebay when it isnt there work

But that's the nature of the site. Anybody can upload a design and if it's for sale, anyone can buy one. But to show a finished product and actively link to the Shapeways page for it only to go "No, you can't have one. Whatever gave you that idea?" is about the biggest prick move I can think of as far as Shapeways goes. Why link to it if we can't order it? Will the renders somehow help us appreciate the finished product more? He can be the nicest guy in the world but that's just mean. I know that there are people out there who would get it, make it, and not give credit. But it's not even like he said "Sorry guys, this one's just for me." He made it and sold it and will never make another one or let anyone else give it a try.
Anyway, he was just the first example that popped into my head to be honest. I normally try to post a link that's relevant to the topic but I think we've already covered everyone I've ordered from.

Sunlink's Armory has some fun stuff, including Animated Minerva antennae. Was tempted to get it but then realized I could buy green stuff for the same price and have enough resource to make my own custom parts. So i did that and happy with the result;

Re: Transformers stuff on Shapeways
i am all for kos but nick did make the galvatron kit for a customer and then he crapped out so he sold it on ebay and didnt make much of a profit because shapeways charged him around £80-100 for the entire kit to be made as he also had it made in the higher priced material
You guys shouldnt really be calling nick a dick because he wont share the idw galvatron kit to everyone. Nick happens to have worked with afew companies to produce figures your all drooling/raving about so to call him a dick is alittle unfair. I mean if it wasnt for him you wouldnt have certain 3rd party figures in your collections so give the guy a break
Trust me i want a decent classics galvatron just like everyone else but ive also been shown pics to show the kit wasnt as good as he wanted it to be but also the kits just way way to expensive to order off shapeways+the work YOU would have to do would annoy alot of lazy people. It really is only a kit for kitbashers who know what were doing
just wait till chms galvatron gets released if you want a decent classics galvatron

He would earn money with sales of the kit, and people who buy at shapeways are unlikely to be to lazy to assemble and paint a model kit.
Also, I never called him a dick, I said "dick move", which teasing people with something actually is.
Also, who is this nick guy and what are these "certain 3rd party" figures you're talking about?

also i doubt he would make any money on the idw galvatron kits as doesnt shapeways take a percentage of everything you make thats then sold?

Yes, they take a percentage of the money you earn from selling the kit.
Also, I'm going to say BS on him working on 3rd party stuff.

I can confirm what Swindle has said. Nick's someone I consider a good friend, and he is quite forefront in the 3rd party design business. Believe me when I say, a massive chunk of the 3rd party figures released by some companies are designed by him. He's a good man and a hard worker in the freelance designer field, and it's totally his perogative to withhold his work if he so chooses.
It's not like you couldn't learn how to use google sketchup and do it yourself using his sketchup pictures as reference. If you're really keen on that design then why not try getting in touch and talking to him about it?
Not to derail, but I feel this needed clearing up because he's a solid guy and has done a lot for all of us (even if most of you don't know it). Obviously can't say what pieces since it could well come back on him, and none of us want that.
I can already see you've been introduced to WSF. Don't be fooled by the low price, it really is only good for weapons and prototypes. If you plan on buying figures like the thugger twins or other figures/heads I recommend white detail or higher. You might get away with WSF polished for most things tbh, the finish is near factory quality. Never bother with the coloured plastics, you'll get far better results dyeing the parts when they get to you.
I read that you've found out how porous WSF is, this is part of the reason it's so strong. It's not a very pure plastic, absorbs a lot of paint and leaks it later. A rookie mistake is to paint it straight up; use a primer first to help prepare the surface, and remember to wash the parts thoroughly with soap and sand (if not polished WSF) before painting.
Shapeways is not something you should just jump into head first. Honestly, the best thing to do is sticky this thread and fill it with advice and links to shapeways stores, since there is quite a lot to learn about the different materials and preparation techniques that can really help you get the best out of your purchase.
