Several mods for it , try here in the Customs and Kitbashing forums or over at TFW, they have multiple threads on it there for sure.

Apoxie or Fix-it Sculpt by Aves is great stuff, gotta get it online or it's real expensive. Do a search for Aves studio and it should b e first or second result. Also, almost ANY enamel paint and some, very few, acrylics like Tamiya brand can cause Cancer. Use adequate ventialtion and you should be fine, or stick with Acrylics. Testors Acrylics are fine, not harmful.

It's more than likely enamel, I have a few different kinds of Testors and they're acrylics and dont mention it. Just be sure to use ventilation and dont handle it much, or eat any :D

Hey guys. Quick question. I recently broke the handle to TF Universe Depth Charge's drone gun. What is the best method of bonding the handle to the gun while at the same time have the bond be durable enough during play? It was a pretty clean break btw. Thanks in advance guys.

Weapon: Turret Gun
Ive dredge through this thread hoping to find answers for this allready but so far to no avail.

Ive recently bought some figures off ebay hoping to fill in the gaps in my collection of headmasters and targetmasters

I got Apeface and slugslinger off the same seller and they are positively filthy and i want to get them cleaned up.

Apeface is just dirty, dust and a brown residue are in its joints.
Slugslinger may be beyond cleaning as the plastic that should be a dark grey is a dark brown (the colour and the smell indicate smoking to me - curse those that smoke near their collections)

Im not bothered about destroying stickers in the porcess of cleaning as ive been ordering sheets from repro-labels to restore figures form the same era anyway

Does anyone know any good cleaning tips for transformers in this sort of condition?

I've used superglue on the clips for my G1 Jetfire, and the bond was not very strong. :-(

Does anyone recommend model cement? Such as the Testors type you would use for model cars?

I just broke the door on my RiD Prowl this morning, and I need something strong enough to hold the parts together when the ball joint goes in. :-(

Acetate-based adhesive (used on model kits) will not work on Transformers, as it is designed for polystyrene-based plastics - but it will strip the paint and leave a mess everywhere. I would personally recommend (if you've got the space on the toy), using a small hobby drill to drill a matching hole at either end on the break, which can then have a thin metal rod (I use a piece of paperclip) inserted into them and filled with superglue to bond the pieces back together. This will create a stronger bond than just using glue.

Thanks for the tip! I don't think there's space on the toy unfortunately, I'll just have to try superglue, and if it breaks I guess I need a new TF. :(

The knee joint on my TV Magazine exclusive Fire SL Grand Convoy snapped in half, right out of the box.

While moving one of the legs down to transform from truck mode, the lower leg came off in my hand. The "hole" half of the knee joint had broken in half. It's composed of the same orange translucent plastic as the chest armor. I knew semi-transparent plastic was a little more brittle, but this was beyond that. Upon closer inspection, the inside circumference of the two "hole" pieces has several small cracks radiating from the center.

Currently there is one half-circle of the knee joint surrounding the "peg" part of the knee joint (lower leg), and the U-shaped other half of the broken knee joint still attached to the upper leg.

They fit together just perfect, and I'm not sure if careful application of superglue would be the right choice. Am I better off just leaving him in truck mode and call it a loss?

My temporary fix is to splint the leg together with a tiny dowel and some clear tape, so he can stand in the display case.

Ouch, that's a harsh break to have on an exclusive toy. :( So far I haven't had much luck using superglue on any sort of stressed areas of plastic... it works fine for cosmetic fixes (side mirrors, head crests, etc), but anything under stress like a joint, the glue just snaps right off. I dunno, maybe I'm doing it wrong or something. Could be I need to let it cure longer. I used superglue on one of the armor tabs on my G1 Jetfire, and it broke the first time, but is holding so far the second.

Maybe you could rig up something more permanent as a splint. Tape may leave a residue on the plastic, you could perhaps try some of the clear elastics they use in the Hasbro packaging.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure the clear elastic bands would work, as I'm mostly using the clear tape as a stiff collar to hold the splint in place. I think the clear band would be way to stretchy, even if I wrapped it multiple times. I am considering alternatives to the clear tape, any more suggestions would be helpful.

Have any you fine folks ever purchased replacement screws for your Transformers?

I recently received a MISB BWII BB and Starscream, manufactured by Sonokong. It seems like the screws in Starscream are rusty. I removed the rust by soaking the screws in vinegar but I was just wondering if anyone has tried replacing screws in their Transformers. Before removing the rust, I looked for screws at a local Home Depot but couldn't find any small enough.

Try an electronics or computer repair shop. You'll probably end up with a lot of them, but they should have the right sizes.

I just bought ROTF Long Haul yesterday, and I noticed that the top of his truvk bed that has a linge is messed up. I took it off (detachable) and noticed there is a missing tab on one side of it so it does not snap in all the way. Any help making a tab? I tried superglue but that failed, the glue didn't want to stay in one place it spread out. I am really pissed because it seems every ROTF figure except Arcee, Ravage, Wheelie, Scaplel, and Legends Grindor I have had problens with. (Trust me I have a LOT more ROTF figures)

As a repainter of transformers, I would use Tamiya or Model Master Acrylics. You could use the same brand names for enamels as well (which are supposed to be more durable). Just remember to prime the figure first (everyone uses Krylon Flat Black spray paint) and then paint it.

Well, I got me a rather floppy G1 Sandstorm the other day. He pretty much has a very hard time standing up without collapsing the legs. Aside from the obvious fixes of tightening the screws and applying some nail polish in there, any other tips? Tightening screws didn't seem to help much, I've yet to try the polish.

I'd go with super glue (gel works best), rather than nail polish, but yeah, you've got it.

IMG_1082.JPG

You basically have to build up that nub.

Some soap and water, or rubbing alcohol, to clean out the dust on the black part, especially the rails, will help too.

Cool, thanks for the tips. Wow, a diagram even! There will definitely be some cleaning as I've got to get him prepared for reprolabels. I figured getting the dust out might help some. Now I just hope the superglue I have will help.
