AH HAH! I got Transtopia and Seibertron.com's forums merged PLUS the combined forums have been successfully upgraded to phpBB3.

I've probably put about 30 hours or so into this far during the past 8 days. It's been a bitch. But I've got it! Woo hoo!

I'm going to upload the files to a test site for everyone to check out. I'll give the staff of both sites the link first to check out and then I'll share the link with the rest of you so that you guys help test the new forums.

I am so EXCITED!!!

I can't see the avatar either.

The color is nice. But this old one seem to have a better color contrast.

The design and color scheme is currently the phpBB3's default look. I haven't integrated the new forums into the Seibertron.com shell/layout/color scheme yet. That's this week.

We will all need to upload our avatars again. Signatures should be working.

Please note that this is currently just a test environment. You'll have to upload your new avatar on the forums on the live site again when I make the move official with the current data.

I have to update the phpBB design to match that of Seibertron. I haven't done that yet. I thought it was more important for me to figure out how to merge the two sites and upgrade us first in order for us to test it before worrying about colors, layout and design. The new forums will more closely resemble that of the current forum color scheme once I'm done.

One question.

Are you going to make it so that the entire box lights up yellow like that on the finished product?

I hope not, its irritating lol

And if your just going to keep the Philosophers Forum blocked why even have it in the new forum :???:

It's a test site. It's a straight import of data from Transtopia and Seibertron. I thought I'd share the link with you guys so that you could help me verify that everything imported correctly. We'll be making changes to the forums themselves once we go live after a fresh import of data. Just look for new functionality. That's the point of the test site for the time being.

The new features of phpBB3 are listed at http://www.phpbb.com/about/features/

A lot of the features only affect the staff on Seibertron, but that's why I wanted you guys to have a chance to check out your new profiles and things available to regular members.

I got caught up on some "Ryan/Seibertron" time tonight. I really want to get all of us moved over to the new phpBB3 forums so I spent about 3 or 4 hours tonight while watching Fantastic Four 2 and the first 2 episodes of Bionic Woman working on integrating phpBB3 into Seibertron.com's layout and design. I'm still not quite used to it yet and I've been tinkering around with the new phpBB3 since May. However, I like the concept of having that information on the right hand side. The forum posts read more like an ongoing multi-user blog. It's definitely different looking than every other forum system out there right now ... in particular the other TF sites. It's professional yet offers something new to the Transformers community (there's a lot of new features available that do not exist on phpbb2, the current version we're using). I'll have to reprogram some of my hacks back into the new version but overall I think you guys will be happy with all of the changes that are coming down the pipes.

I apologize that this project has taken me longer than I anticipated. My return to having an actual social life again post movie has been taking up just about every day the past 6 weeks or so. I gave up a significant part of my life in order to work my butt off on Seibertron during the past 4 years after they announced the movie back in '03. I promised myself that I'd get my life back after the movie and that's exactly what I've been doing. I'm currently trying to find a balance between having my social life back on this scale with continuing my duties and obligations with Seibertron.com to the Transformers community.

I've got a significant chunk of the new forums customized for the Seibertron.com layout. I spent the last hour of last night before I hit the sack debugging a few oddities that I couldn't quite figure out with the phpbb3 style sheet that was causing some display conflicts. I hope to have those issues resolved tonight or later this weekend.
