I always felt the standard G1 size cassette was too small for MP scale, but perfect for classics scale. This is supposed to be classics Blaster, right ? So why not make it fit classics scale cassettes like KFC ? Or are KFC cassettes supposed to be MP scale even though they aren't MP style engineering ?
Eh, I think the alt mode size of cassettes kinda throws everything off. G1 size is the same size used for MP Soundwave, which I think is fitting since his chest is smaller in comparison to the rest of his body which is more show accurate. For Classics, the only component of any cassettes/cassette bots we really ever got was Ravage, but with them never making a true 'Classics' Soundwave for him to go with, I expect it was just intended to be a one-off thing as the only item classified as 'Classics Soundwave' in any official measure is the reissue of the G1 figure.
As for this guy, I'm with you that I'd prefer it worked with G1 size cassettes, particularly since there are so many 3rd party ones coming out right now, however I will say that if they did increase the chest size, they'd need to scale up the entire figure, otherwise the chest would be way too massive for my tastes. The proportions on this figure are very nice and very tempting. In all honesty though, I see little point in trying to scale the chest to hold the cassettes since I figure most of us who might buy this guy would probably never keep any cassettes inside him anyway because we'd want to display him surrounded by his cassette buddies transformed into their robot/animal forms.
I'm still undecided on whether or not I'll be getting this guy or not, but after seeing these latest pics, it has become quite tempting.
