I bring this up (more then likely again) because of someone's topic earlier and wanted to know what you have used as a substitute or perminate fixure in your Neo G1 collection.

Now im not ever gonna start buying Animated figures as they dont fit in my collection but i saw Animated Swindle a few days back and he is the only one i have seen that i might be able to pass.

So what have you bought against your better judgement and found it fit or did'nt fit.

I like using Cybertron Galvatron for Megatron. Not as common but I love the design so I use it instead of Henkei Megs like a lot of people do

There are quite a few figures from other lines I've thrown in my display, some BotCon and Fansproject stuff, RID Brave (Fortress) Maximus, Energon Omega Supreme, Cybertron Metroxplex, Animated Arcee (with a custom IDW head), and Movie Lockdown to name a few. If they look nice and have some fiction to support the character, I'll throw them in. For example I wasn't going to purchase Animated Arcee until I saw the custom head on eBay and I had no interest in movie characters until Lockdown showed up in an IDW comic. But like another poster said, I'm using less and less figures from other lines as Classics are getting more figures.

Im using movieverse Seaspray and Lockdown, the universe repaint Roadbuster (technically he's cybertron), Breacher and Hubcap movieverse scouts and im considering buying a cybertron Metroplex or Dark Scorponok just for their size.

I may buy Armada Unicron or Cybertron Primus just coz theyre cheaper than the repaints

I don't like mixing lines as I don't think the aesthetics ever match. I have no stand-ins at all.

i totally agree with you! i tried it but it just bugs me to know i have an energon or movie fig next to neo g1 fig.

I'm a member of their club as well. The only shelf that will have mixed figures is my Universe 2003 one where all the lovely repaints will end up.

I have PCC Huffer, ROTF Seaspray, a BTS trailer for Prime, and WFC Soundwave with Titanium Laserbeak sitting on his arm.

I don't like mixing and matching a whole lot. They usually just don't look right.

But the Aestetics have changed a whole lot, even within just the classics line. The newer RTS Classics have open hands, for instance. And some have rub signs, some don't. Different kinds of rubsigns as well. There's also Energon Combiners and Cybertron guys in there and even movie molds, if we're talking about the entire line. G2 Prime is decidedly movie-esque. The newer figured have jeweled eyes and older ones have clear plastic. And then there's the Japanese's penchant for the shiny either in shiny paint or chromed parts. If we add 3rd part merchendice, then i gotta say that, as cool as City Commander, Protector, and Delicate Warrior are, they don't quite have the same Classics style. Even Cyclonus is an oddity in that his alt. mode is decidedly unrealistic in a line with a more grounded alt. mode.

Energon Omega Sentinel -> Omega Supreme (I liked his uniform color scheme over Energon Omega Supreme)
Energon Bulkhead -> Springer (who I plan to customize slightly to further pay homage to his "namesake"
Animated Snarl -> Snarl
Animated Grimlock -> Grimlock
Animated Wreck-Garr -> Wreck-Garr (soon to become a nameless Junkion)
EDIT: Thought of even more:
Armada Galvatron -> Customized to make Megatron
Energon Shockblast -> Shockwave
ROTF Bludgeon -> Bludgeon
ROTF Brawn -> Brawn

Aside from direct uses of non-Classics characters, any of my non-Classics figures that have unique names (i.e. Demolishor, Crumplezone (Cybertron), Tidal Wave, etc) serve as those namesakes in the same continuity as G1 Optimus Prime. Needless to say, only some of the more extreme movie figures (Megatron comes to mind) and the main cast of Animated that have appeared in previous series don't go in my Classics universe.

Yes, but Classics/Generations/RTS are all based on the G1 cartoon. It's odd that they gave Cyclonus a faithful alt mode and Earthified Kup but thank goodness they didn't Earthify Cyclonus as well.

Neo G1, in essence meaning New Generation 1, refers to the figures that have been released under the following lines:
Classics
Henkei (Takara line)
Universe (2008)
Generations
Parts of Reveal the Shield

All of the figures are updated representations of figures released during Generation 1. Hence the name Neo G1.

I currently have Cybertron Swerve standing in for Windcharger until I find the new one. Same for E Downshift and Wheeljack. C Laserbeak and GF Buzzsaw. One stand out is I use C Override as Minerva. Some customs here and there like Trailbreaker and Brawn. Between the official Classicverse figures and the Botcon sets, there's very little need for stand ins any more.

Because G1 didn't look different between Seasons 1-2, 3, Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, etc?

I used to feel like you all do on this. Then I put G1 Blur next to G1 Hound and said...F.uck it.
