It seems this is how much the films have made, not the actor.
This is a very silly way of measuring an actor's success.

Burn wrote:Yeah ... not sure how he can be considered the "most successful" given he more often than not only did voice over work for those movies and the majority of the time he wouldn't have been the lead either.

If a quarterback is involved in, say 14 Superbowl wins, even though he might not have completed a single pass in any of these, wouldn't he still be the guy with the most Rings?
Just saying.

And is Frank Welker worth 6 billion dollars?
Just saying.

Considering Family Guy featured Megatron in the past, it would be fun to hear Welker in that role.

I don't have a problem with his career.

I thought people already knew this long before now.
He's been making more money than Samuel L. Jackson for years.
Isn't it a bit redundant to state that he's now the highest-paying actor in the business when he's already been for a while now?

This article doesn't say he is the highest earning. Does he really get several million per film like some hollywood artists get?

I dunno about that, but he surpassed Samuel L. Jackson as the highest grossing actor of all time as of August 2, 2006. Here are the Numbers.Mykltron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Um.... uh... huh? What? Wait.

He was Megatron in Family guy, yes. hehe. I just especially like the fact that Megatron was Kermit the Frog...how twisted is that

At the box office.
All this article and that link are saying is that the movies he is ASSOCIATED with have taken in that amount of money.
Neither are an indication of what he's paid.
I'm sure we could throw a list together for some Boom Mike operator and get similar results.

Exactly. He's not necessarily a higher earning actor that SJJackson. Wasn't Arnold getting 20million per film at one point? I doubt Welker gets close to that for any role.

i know people like Mel Blanc are often credited for being so diverse and all when it comes to animation but man, he has nothing on Welker. the guy's done soooo many shows and movies, sooo many voices and characters, its just crazy to read his IMDB credits.
i grew up in the 80s and he's was involved in some capacity in practically every single cartoon i ever watched during that decade and practically every one made. the guy totally deserves some kinda award for all he's done for the animated voiceover world.
and whats really impressive is that outside of Soundwave, i think every voice has just been him alone without any electronic help or trickey. even Blanc had his voice altered for many of the Looney Tunes he's done. its why Bugs and Daffy in particular sound odd in the later 80s stuff, they didnt alter it so we hear what he really sounded like. and of course with Soundwave, the unaltered version is simply the voice he's used for other characters like Dr. Claw so yeah...dude's a deity of cel-lular proportions.

In fairness, the cartoon industry was still in it's infancy when Mel Blanc came on the scene. He pioneered and laid the ground work for guys like Welker.
For the record (because apparently I need to put a disclaimer when I dare say something non-worshippy about something TF related), I think Welker's got a crap load of talent, but Mel Blanc will be the #1 voice actor to me because of the characters he brought to life.

Frank Welker could be considered "the next Mel Blanc". Or "the Mel Blanc of today".

Most of his work is in television too, so that makes it impossible to figure a dollar amount on his worth to the entertainment industry. The same goes for Peter Cullen.
