Now had they made Megatron in black and purple sorta like his IDW look...THAT I might have bought.

If I don't buy the figures when I see them I'll never be able to find them otherwise.
The figures I buy eventually get released in a multi-pack in colors I like better.

Yep, I could see that working. I think this one (Darkside Megatron) looks more like Galvatron, but it's a LOT more expensive than the 3 pack I'm sure:

Hope you're ready to wait a long long long long LOOOOONG time. Anything that's exclusive to TRU hardly ever finds itself on clearance. Hell, that's why Universe Darkwind has been shelf warming at my TRU for nearly 2 years now, probably even more.

I'm tempted, because I really like these repaints.

I might have got the wrong end of the stick but is there an add on kit for Cybertronian Megatron in the works to make him into Galvatron? or was that something totaly different.
Posted by rpetras on September 14th, 2011 @ 9:54am CDT
I'll probably eventually pick it up just for him if no one wants to divvy up a set.

That Magatron is not Galvatron. Whats wrong with Universe/3 pack Galvatron ??? I love him and he is in perfect scalw with Cyclonus and Scourge.

Wait, what? So it's actually more expensive than buying the three separately? How does that make sense?

Wow, that's just bad. But then again TRU seems to be overpricing things a lot lately. Like $9 for the Green Lantern basic figures when they are $7-$8 everywhere else.
I like the look of this set, but I'll wait until sale or clearance. I thought the whole point of a multipack was for a slightly lower price. Lame.

I might get his set, but I am really wanting to know about the other soon to be in stock TRU exclusive TF3 Voyager deluxe pack that I also saw and spoke to them about.
Unfortunately they didn't have details as to what this pack includes, but did say it should be in stores very soon.

This.
There had been two Darkwings sitting on the shelf in my location for about the same amount of time. They finally were bought. I kept waiting for them to go on clearance to get one. Never did. Now I'm kicking myself. They still have ROTF Scorpinocks and Ravages warming the shelves. No clearance on them at all.......

No, it isn't. TRU Generations deluxe figures are $12.99. This pack costs out to be the same as buying the figures separately.

Generations Deluxes are $13.99 at my area TRUs, so, ostensibly, it's kind of a "deal"...
All aside, I do plan on grabbing this set. The Prime mold is tops, very intricate and solid for a Deluxe, fun to transform. Megatron has an impressive 'bot mode and is another fun configuration. BB's rhomboid angles are a bit of a turn-off, an average figure at best, annoying to align for a tight alt-mode.
It would be nice to perhaps see a Cybertron Soundblaster/authentic Galvatron set. Hear me, TRU?

sums it up nicely

TRU doesn't clearance b/c they solely sell toys and don't need to clear space/share space in back stockroom for other product. They have the luxury or whatever you wanna call it of letting figs/boxes rot on the shelves like the Grail room in Indiana Jones 3. That and Geoffrey's a cheap bastard.

And they'll probably still have those ROTF figures sitting there at "regular" prices for awhile. Last Christmas I would search both of my local TRUs and was looking for the latest Generations and Hunt for Decepticon figures, and there were multiple sealed TF boxes on the tops of the shelves (overstock). Upon further inspection, it was ROTF cases, which had to have been over a year old!
The cool thing about this is, for SOME collectors (especially the new ones), it makes it a little easier to find these older figures which normally you would have to e-Bay. I must've gotten at least 1/3 of my Animated collection this way, and paid 1/2 price for leaders!
