From what I've read.. Gundam Age will feature three different eras throughout the show. Blue-haired guy is the first Gundam pilot, his son is the blond guy, and the brown-haired one is his grandson.

If it's like Kamen Rider Kiva, i'd dig.

Hey guys!

Does anybody know the gage of the wire that forms the heat rod on the HGUC Gouf Custom? The little grappler broke on the original and think I may have thrown away the wire with it.

Any help is appreciated!

Also, did any of you see the new HGUC Dreissen? That thing is the ****.

Hmmm, glad to see a new series coming. Although it doesn't look that great from the preview. The mobile suits, Gundam included, look very uninspired to me. Oh well, I'll give it a go...I'm sure it will grow on me like every other series has.

Though most 'hero' Gundams follow the same design rules...

Show him some of the Gundams from G Gundam... without a doubt, that series had some of the most "unique" designs

Yes. The idea of Mobile Fighter G Gundam was that each nation had a Gundam to represent itself in a tournament to decide who ruled the world. Most Gundams were designed to represent a nation's stereotype, but a few still managed to look nice despite this. Neo-Japan's of course was the best, but my personal favorite was Neo-Germany's. In fact, Gundam Spiegel was the first Master Grade i ever built. If you don't feel like looking it up... imagine a Deathscythe-ish gundam with the arm blades from bloodrayne and you'll have some idea of what i am talking about

You might not have ordered Epyon yet, but mine's on its way! I'm excited. My very first Gundam was the old 1/144 Non-graded Epyon, bought at Target. God... that was so long ago... I miss being able to find Gundams at chain retailers. I remember the local Toys R Us used to stock a few random Master Grades...

The Delta Plus... we've all thought about this, all wished Bandai would have taken the initiative when making the MG kit... we ask ourselves, "why oh why didn't they paint it gold?" A few of us have simply gone ahead and repainted it ourselves. I present to you a repaint that was posted on GundamGuy's blog. It was simply so good I had to share. Check the link below as the images are too large to post here using my phone.

I feel a certain need to give you a brief edu-ma-cation. Forgive me if i come off as a tad condescending, i do that sometimes. My purpose is only to inform, not to talk down to you.

To a certain extent, all gundams will look alike. Notice that even the G Gundam ones i showed you all share similar characteristics. That's because they are all GUNDAMS. It's the same way with cars. Cars are all different... but all Hondas share similar characteristics as do Chevys, Fords, etc. Every Gundam ever designed is based in some way off the first Gundam, from the original series Mobile Suit Gundam.

The grand-daddy of them all, the RX-78-2 Gundam.

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/RX-78-2_Gundam

This one started it all. No matter how obscure the design, every Gundam will resemble this machine in some way. That's just the way it is. Deviate too much and fans no longer recognize it as a Gundam.

It's funny you mention Exia as the 00 designs ticked off a lot of fans at first.

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Exia

Looking at the Exia, you'll notice some differences from the standard Gundam design. The V-Fin on the forehead is a little different, there is no side-skirt armor at all, but the biggest change comes when you turn the machine around and look at it's back and notice a giant dome sticking out of it. This, the GN Drive, is the Gundam's propulsion unit. In the 00 universe, the Gundams do not use traditional thrusters or engines for movement. Instead they move by use of special particles, or as some of us like to call it, magic.

This is unique to the 00 universe, as are a lot of other mobile suit designs.

Tieren

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/MSJ-06II-A ... round_Type

Arche Gundam

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Arche_Gundam

That's just a sample mind you. For another extreme mobile suit design, we turn to a different universe for the Turn A Gundam.

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/WD-M01_Turn_A_Gundam

Arguably the most unique and unrecognizable of Gundam designs, it shares very little in common with it's forerunners. The V-Fin has been moved to the chin for example to form an almost comical mustache. The cockpit, no pun intended, is located on the crotch of the machine. Furthermore there is just the overall design. Paint this a different color scheme and i doubt anyone would recognize it for a Gundam.

Not everything in Gundam is about Gundams. Many of the more famous and popular designs are not Gundams at all, but rather "bad guy" suits. There's the classic Zaku, which lead to countless more Zeon type suits.

Here, we have a basic Zaku II from the UC Gundam universe.

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Zaku_II

This design spawned countless variations and mobile suits for the UC Universe, and while many were considered cannon fodder, there are fan favorites such as the Sinanju.

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/MSN-06S_Sinanju

The basic Zakus, Goufs and even Doms got some love in Gundam SEED Destiny. Getting a major overhaul, these suits were no longer just cannon fodder.

SEED Destiny ZAKU Warrior

UC Dom

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/MS-09_Dom

SEED Destiny DOM Trooper

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/ZGMF-XX09T_DOM_Trooper

As you can see, the Gundam meta-universe is about far more than Gundams. Yes, all Gundams look alike to some extent, but the same can be said of all Lamborghinis. It's not necessarily a bad thing. I suggest spending some time browsing the Gundam wiki (http://gundam.wikia.com) or http://www.mahq.net or even the master grade and high grade sections of an online store such as http://www.gundamstoreandmore.com. You never know what new mobile suit designs you'll discover.

On a final note, I am going to link you to my favorite mobile suit, one that isn't even a Gundam. The picture below is a fan-custom. There is no Master Grade yet, but i am very hopeful.

I actually appreciate the education since I read people throwing out the names and designs and have no clue what they're talking about. I was also having some fun with you  I knew about 00 and it's issues which I find funny since that was the series that got me into Gundam and the story, from what I've read, is so different from other Gundam series. Here's my question; if, like you said, they all look alike because they're all Gundams how come all the series' aren't related somehow? I know some of them are but not all.

It's just for franchise identification.

All Optimus Prime's look alike, even if the series they are from aren't related.

That I understand. Maybe it would be better if I don't think about it and just enjoy the models?

There yah go! That's the secret to Gundam happiness.

A LOT of series are related. 0079, 0080, 0083, Char's Counterattack, Sentinel, The 8th MS Team, IGLOO, Unicorn and a few others are all part of the same continuity, the original Universal Century timeline. THOSE machines will resemble each other far more than others.

You'll also notice themes that are present in most if not all Gundam series. There is always a masked protagonist of sorts, all based on the orignal one from Mobile Suit Gundam, Char Aznable. Furthermore, there tend to be colonies of some sort, and more often than not, the conflict will be between those said colonies and earth. On top of that, you will often have voice actors who tend to just show up over and over again in Gundam series. The guy who voiced Billy Katagiri, Graham Aker's scientist friend in 00, voices Trowa Barton in Gundam Wing. Furthermore, the guy who voiced Tieria Erde also voiced Athrun Zala in the SEED universe.

Oh and chuckdawg, I suggest you check out Gundam Wing when you get a chance. 00 shared some similarities with that series. Furthermore, it was most Americans' first exposure to the Gundam meta-universe as it was the first Gundam series on American TV. 00 and Wing are two different universes however, and their stories take different directions, however the initial concept is the same (team of Gundams descending to earth to kick some ass.)

PS: If at all you liked Graham Aker in 00, you will LOVE Zechs and his Tallgeese in Wing!
