I am getting my companies mixed up so please help straighten me out. Krank is produced by X-Transbots, who also made Powerglide. Their Powerglide had several QC issues, but Krank does not.

Huff is made by Cubex. And so far are the reports indicating lots of QC issues? Or, just one figure so far has issues?

There have been a couple of reports of QC issues with Huff, but many more saying how great he is. One guy even dropped his on some tiles and nothing happened!

Krank is produced by X-Transbots, but I've never bought anything of theirs before, so can't comment on quality.

Reports are generally pretty good for Huff. The worst common mentions are the design has some thin plastic in spots and a joint or two that is less than tight, but not floppy. Order from a reputable retailer and you'd probably be fine.

So, in deciding when next I will be shipping my POL, I see that this thing is expected to get to BBTS on 2/18. I was hoping I had more time to decide not to get this. Ah, what the heck. Things are light for me in the 3P scene for the next couple of months.

Huff is in! Shipping my POL. I'll try to take pics (I have a bunch to take!) and let y'all know if I see any of the QC concerns from previously. (Also, iGear Sharkticons and Trailblazer/cutter/breaker and Hoist add-ons are in too. But I'll post in those threads when I get pics.)

Thought I'd chime in with my experiences with Huff.
Got him a few days ago and cannot put him down. I've had no issues with paint and plastic finish etc. The panels on his legs don't tab as secure as I'd like, but nothing that would be a deal breaker. Overall I'm very happy with him.

I just watched three or four videos on Huff and i've got to have this Cubex figure .

I was all in for the Xtransbot figure at first but in the end the chrome was a real turn off and i forgot all about these two and i'm glad , after watching the reviews with a fresh head Huff is the right choice for me .

The only worry i really noticed during transformation in all videos was the legs at the point were you have to push the wheel in and there is not enough clearance causing you to have to maneuver a bit plastic over the wheel .

There didn't seem to be too many QC issues other than the inside leg not tabbing in secure and the bits that hold his gun being a bit fragile also i didn't notice anybody change the hands .

Has anybody here bought Huff and had any stressing with the part of the transformation i tried to describe or any other QC issues ?

I've got him. I like the overall aesthetics, but there are some QC issues I've noticed with loose joints/hinges. I'll try to snap a couple of pics of the areas you were talking about to see if there are any stress marks.

Do you mean floppy arms and legs or just weaker than normal joints ? is this a problem or easy to look past .

The paint flaking is what keeps me away from this. Apparently a lot of units just have paint flaking off for no reason whatsoever. And I don't have the skills or resources to fix this problem, so if it happens to me, I'm screwed.

First, I looked for stress marks around the panel that hides the wheels in the legs, and nothing there. No stress marks to speak of that I see anywhere.

Loose joints/hinges have to do with several panels not tabbing in well, most notably and most annoyingly is his right leg where the panel tends to hang there. (I'll edit with a pic in a few minutes.)[Edit] Here's the pic:

Image

Other loose areas, the head is very loose up and down. The hips are loose in the forward/backward rotation. I have not looked under the hood (so to speak) to see how easy it is to tighten or add a little superglue or nail polish. With that big, heavy backpack, the hips need to be stronger/stiffer. A ratchet would have been nice, though this figure is a little small for ratcheted hips.

I was about to say that my paint is really, really good. Then I noticed as I tried to bump in one thigh because alignment is a little off that the paint on the back side flaked off a little. That is disappointing, and will keep me from handling the figure much. And this reminds me of one little misalignment that appears to be built in, but I never noticed before because I have the legs rotated out. His left thigh is just off from his hip. (Again, pick to follow in an edit when I get to uploading my pics.)[Edit: other pic added]

Image
[Edit: See the top of the thigh on his left (our right) side?]

I like the figure a lot. It has so much potential! It's just not quite perfect. In fact, I'd probably give it a 6.5/10 because of the QC issues.

Hmmm... all this QC has me a little wary now #-o i think i'll still take the chance with Huff since i won't be handling him much anyway and he's currently on ebay for £46.50 Free p&p from china , if it was full price i would have backed out.

My pleasure. *tip of the hat*

It's weird. I like the figure. I like the design. The QC could definitely be better. The quality of the plastic could be improved too. Overall, I am happy with the figure, but cannot honestly say it is better than a 6.5. And I feel the paradox/hypocracy because I am usually more discerning than this. The TFC Arialbots, for example, I would give 7's and 8's, maybe even a 9 for Air Raid, but I never really had the urge to buy them.

Maybe this is because I feel like I have the ability to fix Huff's QC issues, thus making him a solid 8.5. Maybe I just need to come to terms with the fact that I am a hypocrite. 8-}

So I completely flip-flopped on not getting this guy and got him. The mold was, apparently, lost so this is it for this thing. Mine came with two of the same fist. Didn't bode well.

I'll say the visuals for this were exactly right. I got this to go with my Classics collection consisting of official deluxes and iGea's minibots and he fits right in. In vehicle mode he's as large as Voyager Prime, which is what I wanted. You can even put Fansproject's trailer on top of him (pity there's not a proper mounting port). So, yeah, visually he's great.

But he holds together like a knockoff. His head's on a screw you can't tighten. Mine came with two opening fists (gotta pen a letter to BBTS soon). One arm is super loose. He comes with another set of closed fists which are really, REALLY tight on the vehicle mode's upper stacks. His chest constantly wants to pop off.

I knew the QC was bad, but in person it's just .... terrible. I'm not sure if Xtransbot's Glider is worse. Like Glider he has some pretty clever ideas and looks nice just standing there, but ... man! If you're desperate in need of a proper looking Huffer this'll do. If his QC wasn't riddled with problems he'd be great, but only KOs and Impossible Toy's Arcee comes close to matching the problems on mine.

I was moved by people saying that despite the QC this was a fine figure. And it certainly looks fine. But it ain't. Properly executed this could have been the final word on Huffer, MP or Classics - official or not. As it stands that's money I'd have felt better spending on Dinobots.

Yep, bumping this up purely to complain. And maybe warn some holdouts on the figure.

I don't disagree with anything you said. I quite agree that this had the potential to be the best representation of Huff ever. I'm working with mine, but I do not play with him. I never will. He'll stand with the rest of the G1 cast and look purty!

I really appreciate it. I've been holding off and swaying back and forth. Having another bad review about the figure helps tip over to "do not get" for me. Maybe Takara will eventually release their Huffer. If it wasn't for all the other products coming out now taking up my resources, I would've got this guy already.

On a similar note, I'm reminded of the new Badcube figures coming out and how they cost more. People say "well that's the price you pay for higher QC". First off, we don't truly know if the QC for those two will be better than Huff - it's only been promised so far. Secondly, was our little community told before Huff came out that we would be paying for poor quality? Especially at the price he's going for, that's ridiculous. Maybe I'd pick up a poor QC Huff at $10; that's a lot easier to throw away than $60 - 70.

Yeah, I feel like if you know you're spending $10 on a poor QC, paint already flaking - ready to be reprolabeled Huff - you'll be happy. But this guy is not a $75 toy. Not with these problems.

I think the head vexes me the most. It's so, so basic. You use a pin on it. Or a ball joint. Not something that gets looser when you turn it. I mean ... who'd ever want to turn a head, right!? And to add insult to injury the screw head is hidden within the neck and, as the head itself is pinned into the neck you can't tighten it.

Additionally, I switched out faces and the second head's screw pillar (or whatever it's called)has deep stress marks. I'm lucky it didn't break.

All these problems are ones I'd have expected from a knockoff. If it were that I'd tell myself "well it was a knockoff, what'd you expect?" But this is an $80 "masterpiece." It costs more than MP Bumblebee and BB comes with Exosuit Spike.

I must be one of the few that has had little or no problems with mine.
The only issue ive had is that one of the panels on the leg doesn't peg in as tightly as the opposite leg. The the paint on mine is fine, no chipping, flaking etc. nothing joint wise is overly tight or floppy. I got lucky :)

Then I got lucky too, because mine is fine as well.

You can tell this is the first foray into getting a figure to market, as there is more flashing on parts and things like that, but nothing that would keep me from recommending this figure.

Other than the paint I've had no problems with mine. Just gonna have to find a decent color match and re-do it myself. Annoying as hell, but wouldn't stop me from recommending this version over the X-Transbots one.

I thought I had a good one as the paint on mine was fine for months, but I noticed yesterday the paint has finally started flaking off one of his legs. Hadn't touched the figure in over a month and haven't transformed it since the day I got it. Unfortunately it might just be a matter of time before the paint ultimately gives away...

The paint on mine, at least, is good. I'm hoping it was part of a second run or something. But I don't hold out much hope. I thought about it and decided I could live with it, especially since Reprolabels made some stickers from the chest.

It was the other problems that really got me down.
